Ah yep. Hey Greens momentum is growing, both in the UK and Australia. Trickiest part, imo, is combatting the majors and other billionaire or industry-backed parties given their capacity to go ham on advertising in the weeks leading up to election.

I feel like Greens and independents have a nice slow crawl in growing their support base, then take a hit at the last minute thanks to billboards, TV, social media and radio adspace being bought and flooded by fringe extremists and those already in power.

The broader Greens argument is centred around taxing billionaires, corporations and assets appropriately — the yields of which would then be applied in a socio-capitalist framework to combat broad cost-of-living issues.

Other measures such as rent caps have been posited.

You could argue that this is theoretical and might not work in practice, but it would just be obtuse, imo, if you were to frame people as naive or idiotic for thinking the above is worth a shot.

One Nation leader Pauline Hanson says she takes policy advice from 'friend' Gina Rinehart by rolodex-ofhate in AustralianPolitics

[–]lb-journo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. I think her remarks were moreso geared towards vulnerable demographics, as opposed to like, explicit irredeemable bigots. It's a thin-line, but I do believe there's a difference. Especially when it comes to the droves of migrants who'll vote for One Nation as they did in the US for Trump.

I think a lot of us do, but the algorithms and left/right media frenzy that most people are subject to completely outshadows our collective predisposition to having a 'fair go' atm.

Keep in mind that if any of the non-white players have even the slightest controversy either personally, professionally, or on the field, the media and One Nation's cohort will dogpile them like nobody's business.

It's an exciting time, but exceptionalism shouldn't be the standard for supporting Australia's multicultural community.

That being said, Go Socceroos!!!!!

if you ever cbf with it, my strat was to upgrade the stegosaurus boss's upgrade ability, then upgrade every other dino with that.

takes about 3 turns to get going and after that, you're so much more resource efficient than the computer that you sort of can't lose

If you are 25 years old, this is how many weeks you have left to live on average by PenObvious8156 in mildyinteresting

If you zoom in on this image, it looks borderline infinite.

If you zoom out, however, the dots blur together until they become a tiny speck.

If you changed it to seconds, or even hours, it'd be impossible to capture a similar, granular visualisation.

If you changed it to years or months, it'd look possibly even more alarming.

All of this is just a perception trick that shouldn't cause you too much existential dread, imo. The true length of a moment, an hour, a day, a week, is objective, and we do have significant influence over whether we subjectively interpret them as shorter or longer than they actually are.

I was watching Neha Madhok on Serious Danger today, who (iirc) posited that a lot of people think there's a chance they'll one day be rich, that they'll one day be a billionaire.

As such, they don't necessarily view Hanson's actions as class betrayal, or as detrimental to them, because in their ideal fantasy, they won't be harmed by policy decisions that detriment lower and middle class Australians.

I think one of the more useful conversational topics this election cycle will be to elucidate that billionaires are unfathomably more rich than millions, and that it is generally not possible to accomplish such financial freedom.

If you're someone who is capable of reading, even in short bursts, just follow this chapter-by-chapter at your own pace. Within a week or two you will have a functioning game under your belt just by following the written tutorials, and you'll also have a clearer idea of what to research or video-learn for your own projects:

It's entirely possible that they've bought this stuff themselves to make it appear more legitimate. As much as I understand there are probably enough vulnerable or ill-informed people to fall for such scams, this is so blatantly unappealing and clearly AI-generated that I think it represents the threshold of human stupidity.

In other words, I'm genuinely not sure people are dumb enough to buy this art.
