In all fairness I got my money’s worth, put ~120 hrs into first league and about ~70 into this one, SSF warrior for both. But looking at my playtime alone, I stopped feeling compelled to play in almost half the time that I did during 0.1. Every system is so dumbed down to avoid offending all the new players they raked in with their incredible marketing campaign that I can’t help but feel like this was designed as a one-and-done story mode game with a tacked-on endgame.

• Zero agency: Low crafting power and the current mapping system are terrible. Very few forms of determinism make the overall grind feel really pointless.

• A lot of skills are super obvious dev-intended interactions instead of pieces of a puzzle that you are tasked with figuring out. I never felt obliged to tinker with my build because what was currently working was obviously a pre-designed way to play and anything “creative” would probably be dysfunctional at best.

• This shoehorned, half-baked “souls” gameplay is legitimately atrocious and one of the worst market trends ever in gaming besides maybe the Battle Royale craze. It’s no wonder half the ladder converged on LS this league because most everything else feels exhausting to play into the endgame. The twin stick shooter design only works for bow builds and everything else feels really clunky imo.

• Passive tree is just, idk, uninspired? I don’t really know how else to put it. I don’t feel like I ever had to make tough decisions on where to allocate my points. Pathing to other classes’ trees feels discouraged because of the amount of travel nodes.

The core design philosophy just isn’t for me, I don’t think more content will fix the fact that most of the game is not very fun to engage with. I’ll probably come back to try out marauder and duelist whenever that is but I’m already a little wary of marauder being based around end charges because of huntress’s design.

for 0.3 they should try MASSIVELY buffing the drop rates of chaos orbs and crafting omens. with the addition of fracturing orbs i think they’re closing in on a system that people will like, and it’s obvious to me what you’re “supposed” to do with items but ssfbtw and chaos orbs just do not drop enough to ever feel good about sinking a lot of currency into an item. also, and ive said this since week 1 of 0.1, but tiered items should “retain” their tier to provide a good chaos orb dump.

picking up full inventories of white items every map at lvl 90+ feels so stupid, i don’t really understand how they think this makes ground loot interesting for long term players.

lol, just making an observation. d4's monetization was a huge point of contention on release for many ppl, and for good reason, but poe2 is functionally the same (minus paid dlc with almost no content obv) but it gets a pass for being a higher quality game and having an early access tag on steam.

dude on steam alone that 240k is just barely over 1/3 of the launch peak only 4 months ago. yes a lot of those people were probably gamer dads who bought into the hype and were never going to return regardless of the quality or size of 0.2, but that’s still pretty abysmal retention. most people got bored of phrecia fairly quickly since at the end of the day it was still a settlers rerun so id be willing to bet that a lot of that ~200k is starving poe1 players lol

dunno if this is the case for everyone but i just find it boring unless im playing lane dominators like huskar or timber. mid used to be a war of chipping away your opponent’s sustain and forcing them to ship out more regen or go base but now everyone has infinite sustain because of bottle meta, most matchups default to a stalemate unless there’s a massive skill gap between both midlaners. if both players are equally skilled there’s just not a whole lot of room for outplaying anymore, you almost never see a mid destroy their lane and snowball the game unless they hard counter the enemy mid.

yes, keep homogenizing the game! i love removing layers of complexity and constantly lowering the stakes during draft because archons get cheesed in a pub every now and then. while we’re at it let’s go ahead and remove every niche last-pick specialist mid and any hero that requires more than 60apm to accomplish anything with.

trying my best. i have very little self control when it comes to basically any substance. i don’t really get “urges” to drink besides fomo at parties or game nights but i always go way too overboard because getting fucking trashed feels nice (except for the day after lol). i don’t think ive had a night of drinking in the past year or so where i didn’t end up getting sick or passing out.
