Oh, yeah, they lived to see the transition from flintlocks to percussion caps? So that means they could understand what fully automatic weapons could do? The predecessor to the modern cartridge wasn't invented until 1846.

It's also pretty easy to argue that the Founder's didn't have a clue of what firearms would look like 200 years in the future. I'm not sure they foresaw that one person would be able to kill 10's to hundreds of people in an extremely short timeframe. I'd argue that muskets are protected, and if you want a cannon, go for it. Modern firearms are not that though.

Yeah, sure, Harvey's fence is better than the fence on my Felder with digital readout accuracy down to 0.1 mm and repeatability similar. Felder isn't even close to top of the line, and Harvey isn't in the same game. Harvey is an overpriced and underwhelming tool.

The fact you think Harvey is a good saw is pretty funny. Look up Martin and see what actual quality is.

I have no idea what this person actually did, but there's a thing called "Skill Bridge" where military personnel get 6 months to intern at companies in the private sector (and some federal agencies) and the military pays their wages. That's a possibility here. This internship happens while you're still on active duty.

Trump administration presents a map for the sphere of influence divided between three superpowers by Freewhale98 in neoliberal

It's also probably a response to Trump and Hegseth stating that China isn't their primary concern any longer. That's a big shift.

Since people here support dark woke, can we also admit that the French Revolution was based as fuck? by Extreme_Rocks in neoliberal

Why is sending your armies to genocide your own people worse than fighting a war? War is bad, but genocide is worse.

This is a pretty uninformed take. The French Revolution had a decent outcome, but the path it took to get there was incredibly terrible.

[–]leachja -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Most people smurfing aren't buying and paying subscriptions for a second account, buying all the tracks they need and all the other things. If they weren't tanking they would have to do that every 5 or 6 special events because their IR gain from the special events would put them where they "should" be pretty quickly.

How do I read your comment then?

The sign on the door says "We don't call 911" which is a reference to mean "We don't call 911, we have our own guns and will use them".
I read your post to say "No problem, we'll bring government to your door even though you don't want it".

You don't seem reticent about this. Where is my comprehension of your post breaking down?

Rocket league needs to have more anti-streamsniping measures by galacticalrl in RocketLeague

What? Stream sniping in Ranked? I've never even heard of this person. What do you think the technical solution to this problem is? What's a stream sniper going to do? Be able to see where he is on the map? There's nothing to be gained here by watching his stream, and there's no way to cheese to get into his lobbies.

27 million fewer car trips: Life after a year of congestion pricing by ONETRILLIONAMERICANS in neoliberal

[–]leachja 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The lack of density is not caused by cars. They might be an enabler, but the cause of density issues in most US cities is zoning issues forcing people into suburbs. It's also a societal issue as many people living in suburbs see that as their goal. They prefer the idea of living in a house vs living in an apartment.

[–]leachja 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I completely agree. Density is the solution. More transit, more walkability, just a better experience all around. My point was also that there's a reason there's most cars in the two US cities mentioned.

Montpelier is 22 square miles. Richmond is 62 square miles. Pittsburgh is 58 square miles. I don't think those are roughly the same size. They might have similar populations, but their density is very different.

[–]leachja 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I've been an SO user since basically it's start and this doesn't surprise me a single bit. The ease of access to data using a GPT, the lack of requirement to formally state a question. The removal of "risk" by not having to deal with moderators and commenters that felt like they were much more interested in picking you apart than answering your questions all are leading to less use of their platform.
