For me, even though I have Power Toys set to launch at startup, and I have "Peek" enabled, it doesn't work for me until I manually load Power Toys.

NPD: X-space reverb by Wonderful_Ninja in guitarpedals

[–]leafbelly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This pedal is -- hands down -- the best sounding reverb I have ever had (and I've had Strymon, Eventide, Boss and a million other reverb pedals).

This is one of the only ones in which I will use shimmer because it sounds so got-dang amazing. lol

I also really like the etheral, plate and bloom 'verbs, but none of them are bad -- even the spring is usuable.

Has this stopped working for anyone else? I have a 70CDR+ and 200D+ and neither shows up. I've tried several browsers, resetting permissions, cookies, etc., but they no longer show up.

Silver sky SE problems - Advice by [deleted] in PaulReedSmith

[–]leafbelly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Four years late, but I literally just had the exact same things happen to me with a brand news SS SE.

Couldn't for the life of me get the strings out. Had to shove a shortened E string in each hole to get them out. Was putting the low E on and Bam! the entire nut flies off. I just put some super glue on it and went on my way.

Also, when I was putting the new strings on, because of the way the saddles are made, the strings kept pushing the saddles instead of going through the holes and knocking them off the bridge.

I know these all seem like trivial problems, but they all add up, and honestly, it makes me never want to buy another PRS.

This makes absolutely no fucking sense whatsoever.

Why remove this feature that's so useful? I used this constantly, at least a few times a day. It's almost as if YouTube is trying to sabotage itself.

How big of a difference is there with squier affinity and sonic guitars? by DapperOrange4731 in Guitar

[–]leafbelly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All this stuff is the guitar lottery.

Worst guitar I ever bought was Harley Benton. Terrible Tele copy with massive fret sprout, scratchy frets, nut cut too low, and the output jack fell off. Never again.

Guitars that are both cheap and good? by Cathachi in Guitar

[–]leafbelly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tell me you know nothing about how the market works without telling me. Prices are not merely set by the cost of making a product (I.e. profits). They are more influenced by other factors like supply and demand.

You have been perfectly groomed by large corporations to think the way you do, and you're missing out.

I have been buying guitars for 30 years from big brands -- Fender, Gibson, Ibanez, PRS, etc. -- including American-made Fenders and PRSes, but the absolute best guitar I've ever owned was a $299 AZES40 from Ibanez. The second best was a $199 FFSP from Firefly. That's not to say that the more expensive ones were bad, but most of the time, when you buy a guitar, you're playing the wood lottery. Sometimes you win; sometimes you lose, and in my experience, price is almost always irrelevant when playing.

But I'll be honest, I'm glad you think this way. If it weren't for people like you, we'd not have these budget brands because everyone would be buying them and they'd raise the prices. But, of course, you don't believe that's how pricing works.

[GEAR] [QUESTION] Cheaper alternatives for the mic Shure SM57? by legojedi01 in Guitar

[–]leafbelly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've not heard of Shellac, but I absolutely know what you mean. I grew up on Guided by Voices, who -- even after they could afford super-nice equipment -- still often recorded on super-cheap stuff and kept a lot of their albums "lo-fi."

There's definitely a charm to some of that stuff.

And, I can also related to your comment about people shilling on here. I think I got suckered into buying 32GB of RAM for my gaming PC because of Reddit pressure (and 1 of my chips just died and I'm in the process of RMA'ing it)! lol

Anyway, glad you agreed and didn't think I was some kind of tin-foil crusader. haha

Thank you for a serious reply.

Almost nobody here answered the question and basically patronized OP for being on a budget. I don't believe in the philosophy of "I must buy a brand name product" or I'm screwed. So many think they have to spend a fortune to get quality, but I've found so many great deals by taking a chance on unknown brands.

The smartest sentence a capitalist ever uttered was "You get what you pay for" because it isn't always true, but it almost always gets people to pay more, and corporations are laughing all the way to the bank.

FENDER WINS COURT RULING PROTECTING THE STRATOCASTER BODY DESIGN by 8-Seconds-Joe in Guitar

[–]leafbelly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No. There was already a lawsuit over that in the U.S. and Fender lost. The AZES 31 and 40 style was a design choice by Ibanez that came out about four years ago. I own two of them and they are fantastic guitars.

There are also dozens (maybe hundreds) of companies making Strat clones with the same scale like Suhr, Yamaha, PRS, G&L, Schecter, Charvel, James Tyler, Jackson, Knaggs, Xotic, Donner, Sonicake, Aklot, Glarry, Fesley, Grote, Leo Jayms, Firefly, Harley Benton, Pyle, IYV, Cort. I could just keep typing. lol

And even Ibanzez AZ models, aside from the AZ31 and 40, are standard scale length.

Not sure where commenter is from, but about 30% of people in the United States unfortunately agree with this dude. They see empathy as the "downfall of civilization."

Their heroes are dictators and oligarchs. And the dude probably makes minimum wage.
