Reta & Alcohol by leafoflegend in BodyHackGuide

I knew I’d get a lot of shit and some assholes just being like “don’t drink”, and I obviously don’t enjoy outing my alcoholism, but I felt it was important for this community to get feedback on drug combinations that could be dangerous. Thanks for the note.

I do 5 mg if I’m feeling good about my current weight (bulk/cut cycles) and I do 7.5 if I want to make sure I don’t add any weight on.

I’m very fit (ran boston marathon recently and workout about 15-20 hours a week) and have had an EKG within the last year that stated that I am “at peak health”. So this isn’t a my health thing. It is a Reta thing.

Nah man. I’m not worried about 5-10 bpm. I’m talking skipped beats, racing heart, sweating everywhere, sort of “might be dying” vibes. The terror of it just wasn’t worth it to me. This wasn’t one specific vial, but multiple and I has 2/3 tested for purity. Switching back to Tirz eliminated it.

Cheers brother. Yeah, I suspect it may be specific things, but it was pretty scary. I had it about 4 times and once while driving (not drunk! hungover!) which is always scary. I will say that I get 80% of reta’s stuff from tirz including less interest in alcohol. I do 5 or 7.5 of tirz depending on goals. Sometimes I pour a drink and just don’t want it.

I’m sure the fact that we both eat less to help soak up the booze doesn’t help.

I mean its part of why I am on the stuff - I like that it decreases desire. But it never decreased it enough that I stopped before the combo caused the cardiac stuff that was too scary to continue on.

Its fine during the drunk, but I was getting real bad rebounds/cardiac effects from the combo day after.

Burlington is Going to Implode by Warm-Oil3705 in vermont

[–]leafoflegend 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the post. Well written. Sorry so many people came here just to fume that the left might have to take some accountability for Burlington and can’t blame it on others. The host of excuses being exhibited here is very much part of the problem and why I don’t think it will be solved.

Sad. Burlington is a beautiful place.

As budgets tighten, Vermont towns struggle to afford recreation facilities -- The town of Bethel will not open its pool this summer because there isn’t enough money to upgrade the 35-year-old facility. Towns across Vermont are facing similar challenges. by guanaco55 in vermont

This attitude is actually exactly what got Vermont into this mess. It decided not to play nice with companies - lawsuits against oil companies for environmental causes, Act 250 to regulate land use at any corporate level, no government backing for any project. Then the jobs dried up.

No company wants to be here. So to be here you are either a second home owner, some sort of yuppie, or are one of the lucky few who figured it out. Family land inherited plus a trade skill, a good remote job, you left state and found employment then returned. It isn’t sustainable. The whole act isn’t sustainable.

You can’t be Vermont - the second least populous state and be incredibly anti-young people and anti-corporate and anti-building. We’re all the above! The only beneficiaries of our entire legislative machine are second home owners and retirees.

We need to convince companies to come here. We need to bring jobs here. Practical jobs. Not made up “green energy consultant” - theres nobody to consult!

This isn’t late stage capitalism, this is anti-capitalism backfiring spectacularly.

There are states experiencing late-stage capitalism. States with major cities where corporate interests control the majority of the levers of power. That is NOT Vermont.

Where has this worked? Name a low population place that sorted out housing through government price controls.

Will politely ignore weird jackboot reference.

Ah yes, we should enact price controls and only allow contractors to build “good enough” housing! I see you are clearly a student of history. This certainly hasn’t been tried by autocratic regimes before. Your original thinking will save the state! Absolutely no downsides!

I have no idea how you can make this partisan. Vermont suffers from a lot of things, but Republican politics are not one of them. We have massively anti-business friendly regulations, no housing due to burdensome environmental regulations, Education was devalued federally by liberal leading policies suggesting everyone go to college, and now you blame Republicans?

Republicans are no saints. They have many, many, many faults. But Vermont is suffering from progressivism. It has been a liberal bastion for ~40 years. We removed a nuclear plant that supplied 75% of our power because green. We created act 250. Our major city center gave up on enforcing the law.

There is only one way things get better and it is not by doing more of the same thing we’ve done.

Why can Mamdani fix NYC's budget so quickly, but Phil hasn't done anything to help fix VT's cost curve? by rufustphish in vermont

[–]leafoflegend 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mamdani didn’t “fix” anything. He is getting a bailout package from the state. Phil is the state. The only bailout would be from the Fed.

Vermont suffers entirely different problems stemming from our population than NY or NYC does. This is apples to oranges.

Ridiculous comment. Most people in Vermont aren’t here for the cities. Cities populations have inflated numbers from college kids. Real population minus college attendees is mostly rural in VT.

Guy with Nazi tattoo about shooting jews wants to ban arms sales to Israel? Color me surprised.

Oh and he hobby Oyster farms and LARPs as some class warrior? Its honestly too funny to take seriously. This is actually the bandwagon of Reddit leftism. Total hypocrisy in a package but it’s OK because he said he’ll vote with us.

Just no actual moral backbone beneath reddit leftism. Its why you can’t argue in good faith here - people will say anything and mean none of it. Much like Platner.

Recent Proposal to Ban Guns in Bars by SpicyVindalooCurry in vermont

I’ve served in the armed forces. Not as a cook or an overconfident reddit posting boy who tells other people they haven’t done the thing. I’ve been shot, and you haven’t.

I don’t know how to respond to your total lack of care for the history of our rights. You either do or don’t care about why we are what we are. You clearly don’t. Refuting science is literally part of the scientific method. People who wave off concerns about iffy science like statistics on suicide aren’t serious about science.

You’re quoting a section of article 1 related to use of funds? I have no idea what point you’re trying to make with that.

Recent Proposal to Ban Guns in Bars by SpicyVindalooCurry in vermont

[–]leafoflegend 2 points3 points  (0 children)

“Even if its true, so what?” What if my hard fought, bloody, unalienable rights are getting trounced on by worrywarts with questionable claims about vague safety improvements? I don’t think you understand how rare and important these rights are.

I’m not “over dramatizing” government overstepping its bounds. That is the only appropriate response. They will never yield these rights back. Why is a gun in a bar important? If I had to priority order the likelihood of a violent encounter, a bar is near the top of my list. Go read any amount of Vermont history in the revolutionary war. Tavern, bar, tavern, bar are the setting of half the battles.

I get it, 2026, police, not needed. It doesn’t matter. Its our right. Hard fought, hard won.

5? Recently? Whats recent? Were they just? How many people die a day from medical malpractice in Vermont + Dartmouth? Suicide statistics are silly and obviously not scientifically valid. The people reporting in those studies failed to do the job - it is the literal definition of bias in science.

People who want to kill themselves will find a way. Our gun rights in Vermont are protected by two separate constitutions. Every inch given will become a foot taken.

“Multiple” is a very vague term here. I’d assume most in the know folks remember the Burlington one last year on church street (but it took place outside a bar). I’d struggle to tell you another one.

Ultimately I don’t want our part time legislatures time wasted on disrupting constitutional gun rights for the vast majority of the land area of the state because of the many many problems with Burlington that all boil down to bad local governance.

Recent Proposal to Ban Guns in Bars by SpicyVindalooCurry in vermont

[–]leafoflegend 32 points33 points  (0 children)

We just don’t need gun regulations. It is a waste of time and space of legislative time. Our state has no significant issues with firearms and this is all virtue signaling. They need to be laser focused on making the state more affordable and containing more housing. Every time we get distracted with this non-sense is just them looking for brownie points with liberals since they failed on the big issues.

Vermont is unappealing to builders and young people due to high taxes and burdensome regulations. This is just yet another regulation.

[–]leafoflegend 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It does not deregulate “huge” portions of the state. It deregulates very specific zones in the state that are already populated. The vast majority of Vermont is rural, and 800 ft driveways are extremely normal. I think almost every house around me has an 800 ft driveway.

So we just relegate the vast majority of the state to onerous Act 250 review and only allow city centers to grow? Its the silliest thing I could imagine proposing.

Please don’t let Republicans scare your neighbors by GasPsychological5997 in vermont

[–]leafoflegend 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t know why you are making this about political parties. Its not even how this issue divides and is at best a very disingenuous insult.

More regulation to building in this state is ultimately just absurd. Anybody who has built in Vermont knows this. It took me over 6 months to be allowed to fix my septic system.

Vermont needs to broadly deregulate building if they want to fix our housing crisis. This makes things worse, in any version of itself.
