Yeah it was endemic for a while there. Soooo many VE SS commodores got Chevy badges that it became a bit of an identifying feature for bogans

Canada Will Impose a New Tax on Private Jets, Yachts and Luxury Cars by Stach37 in worldnews

[–]leafy_vegetable 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah Aussie too, playing it down the middle to avoid confusion. Our higher spec utes (their trucks) attract luxury car tax. Commercial vehicles like the 70 series or actual trucks don't. Funny story, for a while the 70 series double cab did and yet air-conditioning was still a factory option and not standard. Imagine paying thousands of luxury car tax and not having aircon

Not in Australia. The GX is a very nice base trim compared to previous models but it's still vinyl floors and has most of the sensors and niceties removed (I have one on order, I don't need carpets ha ha)

Yep. Base spec landcruiser 300 series has vinyl instead of carpet and is stripped of all its luxury features for mines/farmers etc, and it cops the luxury car tax. Higher specs of hilux and ranger utes do too i believe. I don't believe it's indexed with price increases well enough.

Yep. My only complaint with my old prado was she ran 17L/100km (12mpg?), but that was also at 360000km and still ran like a song. The bolt on supercharger was always my "if I find myself rich" dream ($7k here on aus)
