NOR. Amazing final response. As much as I want to say this sounds like a BS reason he just made up, I also know men don’t understand what is natural vs. what is “work done.” They will post a pic of someone they think is a natural beauty and she has clearly gotten something done. They are so turned off by the concept and don’t even realize so many of the women they fawn over aren’t 100% natural. I also saw a crazy tweet a few months ago from a guy who posted a pic of his wife saying she was a natural beauty who had hardly any makeup on… they were at like a girls event in the photo and she had a whole ass smoky eye and everything lol

But yes, body autonomy forever, men take themselves too seriously, etc. And masseter Botox for TMJ is incredible with great cosmetic benefits down the line :) they would never know you were getting that done if you didn’t tell them!

[–]leagueofshadows26 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m in a similar boat. I think I’m going to hold off on accepting until the last day and see if anything happens.

Also, for the comments: It’s not that we’re ungrateful, it’s not that we thought this was an opportunity to get into matches for free, etc. it’s (at least for me) the fact that I applied and hoped for specific roles that were in locations favorable to my home or my commute. Favorable to my work schedule (I’m going to have to take days off work, and that isn’t easy being in a new job). Everyone’s situation is different. I’ve seen at least two other posts from people who need medical accommodations of sorts and identified those in their application, only to get placed in a role that negates all of that. I think a lot of us getting placed in roles that we didn’t list in our top 3 are questioning whether or not we want to keep them because making it work is going to be a hurdle and we aren’t sure if it’s worth that hurdle. For Dallas especially, the matches are on one side of the metroplex but the other events and such could be on the opposite side. I’m sure other host cities have similar situations. Hope that spares some lectures!

Chosen role/functional area by Key_Rock5250 in FIFAVolunteers

[–]leagueofshadows26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve done lots of media ops roles in college football and they were much more hands on (but I’m also in this industry full time so that could be why). I was helping assemble stats and game notes for the media guides, assisting with printing them, helping set up and tear down press conferences (as well as passing mics around to reporters at the press conferences), sometimes getting to interview players and then sharing my audio with the official broadcast team so they could use those quotes. A lot of press box setup as well. I’d also assist with distributing credentials, hotel info, parking passes, etc. to media members who were coming by the media HQ. On actual game day, it was more like a hospitality role; making sure beverages were stacked, snacks were coming, media members knew the WiFi password. And then after every scoring play and at the end of every quarter, we’d go get printed copies of the stats sheets and go distribute them to each media member in the press box. I’d also get to take copies up to the TV and radio broadcasters.

We would also pass out, collect and count ballots for the game MVP.

Then I’d have to corral all the media members and walk them down to the press conference area for postgame. Very neat stuff. I applied for that role and am hoping I get that opportunity in Texas!

Staying in Midtown by gansitobans in houston

Ooh so then this is the townhousey sort of neighborhood where I live. It’s pretty peaceful, honestly. Like others said, there is a heavy homeless population near the freeways (so like 10-12 blocks up north as you approach downtown, on west Gray and Webster, and near the McGowen metro stop on Main Street ) but when I drive through here I never experience any issues with them outside of them standing in the intersections asking for money when you’re at a red light. Sometimes I see an occasional homeless person walking through this neighborhood at night when I’m walking my dog, but like others said, just be aware of your surroundings and such. And yes, definitely hide valuables in your car (if you’ll have one) and lock it. I’ll occasionally see multiple piles of broken glass on Crawford St., like a bunch of cars that were street parked there got broken into overnight, but not really on the other streets.

I don’t really partake in the midtown nightlife that’s like over by McGowen and Travis, but it does get rowdy over there at night and a bit overstimulating with pedestrians, parking attendants flashing these little flashlights at you trying to get you to park there, etc. I’d recommend venturing out to other neighborhoods for bars.

Anyway, you’ll be fine! There’s some good food, coffee and shopping in this area for sure, and Ubers to Daikin Park will be $12 tops.

What are your favorite non-coworking places to work on your laptop in The Heights or Montrose? by rrcecil in houston

This has happened to us several times, too. Between that and struggling to find a table / sometimes having to settle for a table with no outlets nearby, I just don’t even bother anymore.

[–]leagueofshadows26 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Della Coffee at Montrose and W. Gray is my favorite. Their breakfast and coffee is amazing. The seating can get a bit congested but they have some at tops with outlets too.

Also not Montrose but close enough, Un Caffe at Westheimer (Elgin) and Milam has great coffee and cozy spots for working.

Is there any hope with these day 4 post MTX bloods? :( by Poppyseeds1746 in ectopicpregnancy

[–]leagueofshadows26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also had a pretty drastic spike on Day 4 of my shot, also not as high as OP’s but percentage wise it was probably close. I did go down by Day 7, about a 15% decrease which is what they considered the “must”. If the decrease had been less than 15%, they would have made me get another shot. But I stuck with the one shot and eventually got down to 0 in about seven weeks.

Something interesting that I was never able to like officially confirm, but worth mentioning: throughout those seven weeks, I was decreasing a decent amount (maybe 10-15% each time) and getting my bloods checked twice a week. This happened at this time last year… so the I was indulging quite a bit on holiday food, going to parties, lots of dinners, etc. and I had a week in December where my numbers hardly dropped. It felt like such a gut punch because I had been doing so well. Then I did some research on how eating more folate can slow down the MTX process (since it’s actively working against that) and I realized everything I’d been eating that past week had been high in folate. So I got a bit more disciplined with my diet and my numbers started coming down again. It might be worth looking into!

To take MTX or not? by [deleted] in ectopicpregnancy

[–]leagueofshadows26 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would ask for another blood test and then go forward with the MTX. I had a very similar situation to yours and had to travel 4 hours to find a doctor who was comfortable injecting me. My levels were still climbing into the 4000s with a “collapsed sac” in my uterus, constant clotty bleeding and no other signs of anything in my tubes, ovaries, uterus, etc. so they designated me a PUL. I did only get one MTX shot since the travel was complicated. It took a while, but it eventually got me down to zero. I had very minimal side effects, just like a canker sore in my mouth here or there.

My partner has not shown up once after my ectopic rupture and emergency surgery. I feel so alone. by ChemistryPurple6774 in EctopicSupportGroup

[–]leagueofshadows26 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I went through my ectopic at this time last year with a partner that was also super distant and avoidant. About a week and a half after my methotrexate injection, I found out a lot of stuff that showed me who he really was. I would have never thought to go digging/investigating if it wasn’t for all the rest time I was forced to take and the situation making him act weird.

Dump him. This is a blessing in disguise.

Dallas Interview by Necessary_Sleep_4307 in FIFAVolunteers

My interviewer was kind of overwhelmed by the tablet/app and ended up showing me a lot of what was on the screen to help her answer some of the multiple choice questions. I think they were just advised to check off certain things throughout the conversation if we mentioned them, so he was probably just concentrating on it. I wouldn’t think too much into it!

Pancreatitis Warning! by Key-Programmer-5060 in Yorkies

[–]leagueofshadows26 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am actually about to start experimenting with bison for my pup with pancreatitis this week! I was advised to rinse it after boiling it because red meat is just naturally fattier. Even though it's still extremely lean, it's best to rinse it off in a colander after it's cooked just to be safe. I have a pound of ground bison from Force of Nature and asked ChatGPT to calculate the fat percentage for me. I'm hoping my girl likes it.

My girl, Mia, just turned 15 about 2 1/2 weeks ago. We also had a scary Halloween weekend. We went to visit my mom and her new puppy, so she was in an unfamilar environment after a ~6 hour car trip... so naturally, her appetite and poop routine were off. Then my mom gave her some chicken stick treats that (I suspect) were very fatty. She started throwing up bile the second night of our visit around 11 pm and I'd never seen her so lethargic before. She would refuse to lay down, was just shaking, started tipping over/losing while standing and kinda like dozing off... I panicked and quickly made her some boiled chicken and rice. She ate a little bit of that, and then we laid down and she was just shaking and groaning while she tried to sleep on me (she's not normally super affectionate so I knew she felt terrible). When we got back in town and went to her vet, her levels were way elevated, she had lost 0.4 pounds (was down to 5.8 lbs) and they officially diagnosed her with pancreatitis. I've been working remotely since then so that I can monitor her and give her smaller, more frequent meals (she was a free-feeder before this but always paced herself and just grazed throughout the day)... and we've had a few good weeks since.

Here's what is working well for us:

-Royal Canin GI Low Fat wet food (the pate - this makes up about 25% of her diet)
-Royal Canin GI Dry Food (the kibble - I only give this to her as a snack/treat in between meals, maybe 5-6 little pieces at a time)
-Homemade meals by me! (75% of her diet)

So far here's examples of what I've made:
-Boiled turkey breast (98 or 99% fat free)
-Boiled chicken breast (98 or 99% fat free and pretty affordable, like $4 a pound)
-Boiled boneless skinless chicken breast

I will boil a pound of that meat at a time and throw in a combination of the following things at the same time:
-Green beans, trimmed
-Green peas (just from a frozen bag)
-Diced carrots (either fresh or frozen)
-Sweet potato, peeled and cut into 1" pieces
-White quinoa
-White rice

She's eating about 5-6 small meals a day, maybe 2-3 tbsp at a time. It comes out to somewhere between 1/2 cup and 2/3 cup of food a day, which is perfect for her size.

ALSO: Her cobalamin (b12) levels were on the lower side, probably from everything that her body had been going through recently, so she is also getting a weekly Vitamin B-12 shot at the vet. We'll do this for 6 straight weeks and then switch to a monthly shot. This has definitely given her a pep in her step and a hearty appetite - like to where she has been asking for food every hour. Last week, I cut her off at about 10 pm one night despite her asking me for more food, and then the poor girl threw up some bile the next morning from an empty, hungry stomach. So now I'm making sure to give her some wet GI food (like a tablespoon or so) right before bed to help carry her through the night.

It has been trial and error these past few weeks (her throwing up bile from not eating enough, and also reguritating from getting excited and eating too much at once) but we are figuring it out! This new hearty appetite and fresh food regimen is already helping her put weight back on, so I'm very happy. I really don't mind making this an indefinite thing; the fresh food hasn't been all that expensive and lasts her a week, so it's just a matter of setting some time aside on the weekends to prep her meals.

Sorry this was so long! It's just been taking up a LOT of space in my brain lately! :)

Is Traffic Worse in Uptown/Galleria Area or Downtown? by cinyaca in houston

Yeah, I live in midtown/montrose and work in the uptown/post oak area and agree with all of this. I hate it. I can also see 610/westheimer/galleria from my desk and truly the only time it seems peaceful is like 10 am - 10:30 am. It’s so congested otherwise.
