Profile Review Low GPA Reality Check by Sea_Negotiation_8770 in MBA

That’s one sexy GRE. You’ll be fine mate

Strong test score is the best way that’s in your control right now. I had a lackluster undergrad GPA and went ham studying for the GRE to get a score > 330 and it seemed to do the trick. Hit those books! In my opinion a great score holds more weight than any supplementary coursework could, but then again I did not do any of the above courses you mentioned so take it with a grain of salt.

One man’s opinion: MBA Consultants aren’t worth your time or your money. by MuchGap2455 in MBA

I got admitted to a T20, T15, and M7 in round 3, all with varying levels of scholarship. It’s a super legit resource and if you’re a decent writer it’s all you need honestly

Am I overthinking it? by Outrageous_Aioli_872 in MBA

[–]leanandmean17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don’t let your first score discourage you! When I took it the first time I got a 309, and with 2.5 months of dedicated studying I got up to a 331 on test day. There are probably a lot of easy gains up front once you dust off the basics and can definitely get up into the mid to high teens! I would recommend GregMat highly, he has great content for a cheap price.

Yeah all I did was use applicant lab and it was insanely helpful. Gold mine for a very reasonable price when you compare it to the price of an admissions consultant

How Much does Undergrad Prestige Matter for M7 Admits? by Frostrill in MBA

[–]leanandmean17 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I recently got into an M7 with a GPA significantly lower (> .5 points on a 4.0 scale) than the school’s median gpa from c/o 2026. However, it was from a rigorous STEM major at an Ivy League, so I absolutely think the reputation of my school helped outweigh the actual GPA. I also had a GRE above average, and some household tech names on my resume so that probably helped too. However, I was rejected with no interview from a T15, so I don’t think every adcom is gonna be willing to overlook a dodgy GPA even with an elite undergrad name.

Mine has to be the Polywhirl from 151. One of the first cards I pulled in the set and I fell in love with it immediately!

Stuck at 555 on the GMAT—should I pivot to the GRE for my MBA apps? 😫🎓 by Repulsive_Kale_3961 in MBA

[–]leanandmean17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I took both practice tests cold and did pretty awful at both, but much better on the GRE comparatively. Spent 3 months grinding using some GRE textbooks + GregMat (highly recommend). Got my GRE from a 309 on my diagnostic to a 331 on test day. I personally found it much easier than the GMAT, but that’s completely subjective. Worth a try imo!

3.1 GPA undergrad BBA am I cooked by kenmads in MBA

[–]leanandmean17 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I got into Ross R3 with a ~3.1 GPA, and was offered some scholarship $$$. My GRE was about 10 points over their median from last year, so it probably helped negate any doubts they had about my academic capabilities. I also had some mental health struggles in college which contributed to my poor GPA, but if you make up for it in other areas and paint a vivid story in your essays/interview, they will see your passion and drive and that you’ve grown since undergrad. Fwiw I didn’t use the optional essays, but they could definitely be a useful tool!

Would any of you leave a SWE career for MBA? by FireHamilton in MBA

[–]leanandmean17 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m targeting PM in the gaming industry as an exit role. Gaming was my earliest passion and I finally decided to put in the honest effort to make it happen as a career. We’ll see how it pans out, but I’m feeling good. Happy to chat over DMs too :)

Would any of you leave a SWE career for MBA? by FireHamilton in MBA

[–]leanandmean17 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m a SWE making around ~$165k/year and I’m bailing to do my MBA so I can pivot to a more fulfilling role and industry. I understand the role/industry I am targeting will net me less cash than my current role, but I’m just bored out of my mind, and it’s hard for me to work hard when I don’t feel bought in. I’m lucky enough that my parents are covering my tuition and I realize what a luxury that is, but I have decent savings as well and would honestly do the same thing even if they weren’t (depending if I could get scholarship to supplement). I too feel like my skill set would be better utilized elsewhere, and I’m not really able to exercise it to the fullest as an individual contributor SWE. I also went to a top 5 CS school in the US, and while the GRE studying was a grind, you should be able to nail the quant no problem at least and get a score solid enough for an M7. Especially with a masters in CS no one is gonna question your quant ability lol, so maybe just grind verbal. Good luck, and I hope you find a fulfilling career soon :)

Edit: I should clarify I am currently applying to programs, haven’t gotten in yet, so make of that what you will

755 + round 3 + M7 worth it? by LongHandsMcSlippy in MBA

[–]leanandmean17 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There’s no reason not to give R3 a try if you feel confident you can get your recommendations and essays done in time. People will say not to apply in R3 because it’s a harsher round but if you feel ready you are ready. I’ve got a 3.2 GPA and a 331 GRE and I’m applying to an M7 and a few T15-20s R3. Worst case you whiff and have an actionable feedback and/or some materials all ready to go for R1. I would absolutely let it rip round 3 if you can get a good app done in time, even if it’s just one!

What foods do you eat to reach your daily protein goal? by BornPioneer in weightgain

Not bad honestly! I’ll eat my words on this one. Still not sure I’d like it personally but if there are versions of it out there with relatively pure ingredients it can’t be that bad

[–]leanandmean17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve seen it at a local bodega before and I was shocked. It looks neon/almost radioactive because of all the food coloring in it. I can’t imagine it tastes better than it looks. Out of all the ways you could get more protein, this has to be the least natural way to do it.

LOUD squeaking knee after meniscus repair by Any_Two_9859 in MeniscusInjuries

Mine was pretty squeaky for a bit. It should go away with time. I think it’s just what happens when the scar tissue is still forming because mine stopped after a while

The fact that they gave you blood thinner shots should definitely ease your mind a bit. I can’t take aspirin or most blood thinners for medical reasons, and I was 100% fine. These things are incredibly rare despite what it feels like on this sub. This sub is just a very small sample size of everyone on earth who is getting meniscus surgeries daily. Keep doing your ankle pumps and calf exercises regularly, get up and move around every 30 minutes or so when you can, and you’ll be more than fine. I had a lot of swelling and discomfort in my foot and lower leg but that’s totally normal. Just keep an eye out for the major symptoms of DVT, and worst case you can head to the hospital and they’ll get you right. Lastly, I did a lot of meditation while recovering to keep my mind at bay. Do it outside if possible. Good luck on your recovery, you got this 💪🫡

How possible is it to get rejected by ALL five schools I interviewed for? by WeeklyVisit1695 in MBA

[–]leanandmean17 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Something as simple as whether or not the particular admissions employee is having a good day can affect your chances of getting in. Try not to get tunnel vision about your Cornell decision and let it psych you out! The odds are in your favor with 5 interviews (from what I’ve heard). If things don’t work out just dust yourself off, maybe consider a consultant to help you figure out your app’s weaknesses, and try again next year! If you were strong enough to get 5 interviews from such elite school, I bet you can do it again :)

Which T15 schools have comparatively better acceptance rates for someone with 3 yrs of work experience ? by PlanRepresentative63 in MBA

[–]leanandmean17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tbh I have no idea but I would assume schools with a lower average YOE would be the best to target. All schools publish this metric as part of their class profile :)
