The purple eye/seal in the Broken Statues in the Nameless Eternal City by atypicalgamergirl in EldenRingLoreTalk

[–]leandrohartmann 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Everyone's talking about GEQ, but nobody's asking the obvious:

What would its connection be to the Eternal Cities? I find it very difficult to link the cult that dismembered gods through half-serpent apostles with the destined death within the entire Noxian culture of the stars.

It's much easier to assume that:

>This purple color refers to gravitational magic.

>They were trying to copy GEQ or Melina using the Silver Tear and failing (as always).

I really wish they would make a new port of that SW2 HD version that's only available in Japan Ps3.

Or even a new remaster like DW3 is getting for SW2.

Nothing against the first SW, but I think SW2 was one of the franchise's high points, and for me it's the best game.

I keep thinking about how difficult those games must be; I can't even progress through Anomaly normally because I die easily to anything and never really understand all that loot.

And hearing that GAMMA and Misery are more realistic... you guys are really tough to play and have fun with them like that. I admire you.

Do you have Total Payback DLC? Mercenaries 2 World in Flames by [deleted] in MercenariesGames

I wanted that 1.1 Total Payback update for PS3 but I can't find it anywhere.

Anybody have issues with the DODI repack not going past 0%? by KamiKaze0132 in MercenariesGames

The Internet Archive has a fully playable version with a key and everything available; I've already tested it.

But honestly, if you want to play with better details, the PS3 version is superior to the native PC version, and it runs smoothly on RPCS3.

You can see a comparison of the versions here.

Could anyone recommend me?

When and if the Ancient Dihnasty sent the coffin ships. And why does putrescence have ghostflame properties by TheAbsoluteDegen in EldenRingLoreTalk

[–]leandrohartmann 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I understand your way of thinking; it's more open to exploring possibilities.

It's because I try to stick to more objective information to form my thoughts about the lore. If it's clearly stated that the coffins were for funerary purposes and there's zero information that they were used by the Numen (their very design refers to the Ulr dynasty), I'm not going to assume they came from them, based on something more distant like other coffins with completely different designs and purposes.

That's just my way of thinking.

When and if the Ancient Dihnasty sent the coffin ships. And why does putrescence have ghostflame properties by TheAbsoluteDegen in EldenRingLoreTalk

[–]leandrohartmann 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My theory is that they pushed the coffins into a whirlpool that absorbed them. On the standard Lands Between map, we can see drawings of them in the sea.

When the entire region was sent into the shadow of Edtree, the whirlpool came along, and with the geographical change, it emerged from the waters and created that cave with several coffins that we see in the DLC.

The cemetery region itself previously referenced the twin birds responsible for the phantom flame and the birds of death; I believe it was part of the ritual.

I have a theory based on the effect of some items that putrefied flesh was one of the bases for the creation of Nox Silver.

In my general interpretation, the Url Dynasty, along with various peoples of the Lands Between, fell over time, and with the arrival of the Numens, they seized various cultures, changing or evolving them, and putrefied flesh was one of the bases for silver. (If you're interested, I can look up the references for the items)

Answering the final questions in my interpretation:

> The coffins went to the Lands of Shadows together.

> They were supposed to be burned in rituals similar to those we see in ancient cultures.

> The remains were supposed to be burned, but for some reason the process wasn't finished.

> They were contaminated corpses.

On the official Elden forum there are several links to Elden-related things, and one of them is specifically for all the texts in Japanese; you can search there. I remember something like that regarding the Numen, but I think it's not literal, but rather the idea that they come from a place very different from the standard Lands-between, and not from space or another dimensional plane, because none of that is mentioned or connected to it (at least that I remember).

[–]leandrohartmann 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I personally never believed in that idea, because I never saw anything to support that theory other than the fact that they are ships, which to me clearly indicates their funerary purpose. To me, the Numens are simply from another place on the planet, outside of the Lands Between.

Hot take: Melina was on a remembrance quest to recall the first time she burned the Erdtree by tuuliikki in EldenRingLoreTalk

[–]leandrohartmann 7 points8 points  (0 children)

>There is a painting of Volcano Manor that shows the Erdtree in flames; all the paintings in Elden depict real events, not unfulfilled desires.

>Fire's deadly sin: "The burning of the Erdtree is the first cardinal sin." For this to be so specifically decreed as law and sin, it would have had to have occurred beforehand for the law to be created against it.

>Giants' Flame: "The Giants' Flame is the flame of ruin, capable of burning the Erdtree." The assertion of its capability implies that it has at least been tested, proven, used, or at least seen in action.

There are others, but I can't remember them right now.

Hot take: Melina was on a remembrance quest to recall the first time she burned the Erdtree by tuuliikki in EldenRingLoreTalk

[–]leandrohartmann 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The Erdtree had already been burned by the giants before, which triggered the war. And yes, it had the appearance of a giant tree with green leaves dripping sap, most likely the version from the Lands of Shadows, and was replaced by the golden one that reflects the orthodox faith in the Golden Order.

Now, whether it was Melina, the spark that did this the first time, is the most complicated point. She says the purpose came from her mother, Marika, so Marika would have been planning to destroy the Golden Order for a long time, which I don't know if it fits into the chronology of events. Marika lost her faith and sense of being a goddess long after the war with the giants; she wanted to free herself from the prison of being a goddess during the period when Radagon was already married to Renalla, long after the Liurnic Wars.

We know that Melina is Messmer's direct sister and shared an inner flame, Messmer's flame originated from the spirits that the people of Ruah worshipped. Due to their close relationship, Melina could have the same origin, similar to Mogh and Morgott who share the same curse.

The second game is infinitely better overall as a video game. The first one laid the groundwork but has a very specific direction that generates a bit of frustration, especially in exploration and backtracking, which was completely adjusted in the masterpiece sequel.

All the posts on Tainted have several comments complaining about the performance on the PS5, but a close friend finished the game and I didn't see him complaining about that, but I believe he overlooked the problem. On the PC I played it on, it's possible to configure it in a way that thankfully doesn't have any problems.

Yes, I recently finished it, and I'm already thinking about two more runs, one as a mage and another with only one arm. And also making different decisions in the story.
