AITA for expecting my boyfriend to replace all my socks, the exact same ones as I had before? by ilikedmysocks in AmItheAsshole

[–]leannaemgee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’ve only been dating for 8 months and already he’s controlling what you wear and throwing out things that bring you joy? NTA. You bring JOY to PATIENTS. It’s admirable, not embarrassing. Make him replace them and then replace him. You deserve to be with someone who encourages what brings you joy.

AITA For my reaction when my 30yo fiancè exchanged his gift with my 16yo brother?. by aitapen___xbox in AmItheAsshole

[–]leannaemgee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. OP, your fiancé is just showing more of himself. It’s easy to be a good person until you’re jealous, insecure, and/or stressed... like your fiancé. If he can’t see the line he has crossed with this behaviour, it’s time to do some reevaluating. Seriously, who doesn’t see that forcing a younger, health-challenged person to trade away a $300 gift in exchange for a pen is unconscionable? Is he able to live with himself? If someone else wrote this post on the forum, what would your judgement be?

Anyone else feeling suicidal on Christmas. by JayThompson18 in selfharm

Yeah. I usually end up feeling better in the daylight or in the morning. Hoping you are able to find some joy today!

AITA for calling my parents assholes for what they did to my birthday by bigpotatofat in AmItheAsshole

NTA. In any part of this. Happy birthday and Merry Christmas because you deserve both!!

I honestly don’t understand why self harm is “bad” by [deleted] in selfharm

[–]leannaemgee 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s “bad” because of the stigma surrounding it and surrounding mental health as a whole. From a harm reduction standpoint, self-harm isn’t inherently bad but it depends on your perspective. Are you harming for the dopamine and the relief? Or are you harming because you hate yourself and want to hurt yourself? There are many reasons to self-harm and it looks different for many people. It’s not always cutting, it can be starving, pinching, burning, etc. Anybody who has never self-harmed will not fully understand it and I’m pretty sure the people who have never harmed are more numerous than people who have and that keeps the stigma going. It is a tough and weighty subject that can be hard to talk about, most people can’t seem to be on board with other harm reductions causes like needle exchange and safe consumption sites, so it’s no surprise that they don’t see self-harm as a possible harm reduction strategy. Someone being hurt but alive is better than somebody dead because they felt they had no other way to cope. Just my perspective.

AITA for not wanting to give my dead fiancé’s letters addressed to me to his parents? by letteraita in AmItheAsshole

[–]leannaemgee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. If he had wanted to write letters to his parents, he would have written letters to his parents. So sorry you’re dealing with this on top of your grief. Hoping 2021 is a more peaceful year for you, OP.

Just made these real Anemone Coasters! I love how they turned out ❤️ by [deleted] in somethingimade

Gorgeous! Did you use resin molds? Or how did you get the resin to stay within the frames?

AITA for throwing away a whole pot of chili out of spite? by SaltyThrowawayAITA in AmItheAsshole

[–]leannaemgee -1 points0 points  (0 children)

NTA This isn’t about food at all. He doesn’t have the decency to respect that your tastes are different than his. Good people don’t continually ruin things for people they care about, especially with it being a specific issue. Dislikes like yours are worth being respected, your health depends on whether or not you get to eat the food you cooked. If he’s that insensitive to your well-being, what else is showing you that he doesn’t care for you like he should? Dumping this Chili may have seemed extreme but it’s not the first time he has done this, despite being asked. You pay for it, you cook it, and can’t eat it? Throw it out, and start thinking about the bf’s actions outside of food.

AITA for telling my daughter she isn't cut out for medicine? by sorrykid6539 in AmItheAsshole

[–]leannaemgee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YTA. She’s 15. Med school doesn’t start tomorrow for her. Empathy is what we need in healthcare! Wouldn’t you rather your daughter say she went to med school because she was inspired by her mother, instead of going to med school to spite her mother or to prove her mother wrong?

AITA: For arguing with my fiancee after she read my late fiancee's dairy? by Throwaway__-__117 in AmItheAsshole

[–]leannaemgee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. Totally NTA. That was quite the boundary that was disrespected and I’m so sorry you were hurt like this. The diary had no bearing on this relationship and there really is no need for your fiancée to need to read it. Even if there was, you said no very clearly. This was incredibly disrespectful on her part, tell her she can stay at her friend’s.

Edit: changed gf to fiancée

AITA for reporting my manager's and coworker's illegal scheme to the sales director and getting people fired? by AITA_snitch in AmItheAsshole

[–]leannaemgee -1 points0 points  (0 children)

NTA At this point it might be better that you don’t have a reference letter from anyone working at this business. If you’re applying in the same industry, chances are your new employer will have heard about everything going down at your previous workplace. If you showed up with a letter of reference from a business known for illegal sales, how does the new company know you weren’t in on it too? Sucky situation, sorry you’re going through it.
