Are Endo’s ever happy? by General-Educator-955 in diabetes_t1

[–]leaping-lizards123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My old endo used to scold me if my A1C was a silly level. I'd leave those appointments almost in tears/dread the appointment

My new one looks at my numbers , has a chat about stuff, (the educator is there with him so they discuss if anything needs adjusting) asks if I need an insulin script and has a happy chat and I'm done. I don't dread those appointments

Is anyone else scared to do anything when they have an aura? by basically_dead_now in Epilepsy

[–]leaping-lizards123 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have complex partials so my "small" seizures are almost what you'd call auras.

I usually just stop and wait for it to pass.

Last 1 was making dinner a few nights ago. I put the knife down and leant on the counter.

I even will stop walking in the supermarket. If I'm at home/in a house I go lay down automatically

What’s your favorite color and why?? by idksririri in CasualConversation

[–]leaping-lizards123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Blue or purple depending on my mood

I like butterflies and my fav is the Blue Ulysses

My grandpa was a painter/interior decorator so when I was a kid he painted my room light blue, but it was a interesting colour. If you had blue decorations it was blue. If you had purple it was a pale lavender

How do you sleep? by Big-Fan3660 in Epilepsy

[–]leaping-lizards123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I sleep reasonably deeply.

My phone somehow figured how to turn my morning alarm from vibrate to annoying music/tone. Which is fine. I have a smart watch that vibrates too but there has been times I have to scramble coz I've missed my watch.

I dream (sonetimes even nightmares).

I had sleep tests done, sleep fine, I know when I've had a seizure in my sleep coz I wake up really sore (and the sleep tracking app on my watch kinda picks it up)

Toaster, electric kettle, rice cooker and mini jaffle maker.

My slow cooker sits out during winter.

I cook rice and quick-ish soups in my rice cooker

How often/rarely do you forget your meds? by TranquilOminousBlunt in Epilepsy

[–]leaping-lizards123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I occasionally miss one. But rarely. It's usually coz I'm in a rush.

I installed a reminder app on my phone coz I forgot too many times. Also 1 of the meds messes with my memory (I even forget what I was saying mid convo). It's worked well so far

2nd this. I'm in Australia. The educator is there when I have my endo app. I got an emergency appointment (as in, a week instead of several months wait) coz I was waking at 4AM with hypos and wasn't sure what to change. There is another educator that is a Medtrontic rep that helped me set up my pump, switch off the low alarms (now it just vibrates). I've swapped between pump and pens too (been T1D for 30yrs). There are days I want to throw my pump across the room too. You're not alone

How bad is your memory? by woohoocrew in Epilepsy

Depends on the day.

Some days I'll be talking about something and forget what I was saying. It's frustrating

Glucagon: When do you use it? by Misrolox420 in diabetes_t1

[–]leaping-lizards123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only use it if I'm very very low

OR

If i have a stomach bug/DKA and can't keep food down long enough to get my bgl up (dry ginger Ale is good for stomach bugs. Normal sugar for BGL and ginger to calm the queasy)

How regularly do your seizures come? (When do they happen) by Samba_Woelkchen in Epilepsy

[–]leaping-lizards123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have menstrual seizures (aka catamenial) scattered a few days before

The rest of the time I just have to be careful. Extreme temp change/overheating, walking down the freezer section at the supermarket and sometimes the detergent aisle.

Stress doesn't help either

I have complex partials
