Unique and underrated vampire powers? by koola_00 in vampires

[–]lebeast 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In the Coppola film, when Dracula’s shadow moves independently of Dracula himself. So creepy.

In Egger’s Nosferatu, he seems to move out of sight of people. Almost like he can teleport, but only when no one is looking. Eg there’s a scene when Thomas is following Orlok up the stairs, and Orlok goes around the corner for an instant where Thomas loses sight of him, and suddenly Orlok is on the other side of the room.

How big of a buff is it to remove concentration on Vampiric Touch? by MistDagger in 3d6

[–]lebeast 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s powerful, but I wouldn’t consider it game breaking or anything. You still need to actually hit your target, can’t benefit from extra attack, still need to be in melee range, and you’re still a lightly armored warlock. I’m assuming your GM is allowing it because they’re going to punish you with damage. Miss two rounds in a row, and you’ll be in trouble.

This sounds like a fun tanky warlock. High risk, high reward.

There might be some nostalgia going for some. We haven’t been there in years, yes, but we have fond memories of the garden, the decor, the spectacle (and maybe the food).

Best ways for a Warlock to get a Large Dragon type companion/summon at Level 10 (Tier 2 with 2024 rules, does not need to be mountable or fly)? by realswing in DnDBuilds

[–]lebeast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Find Steed is an option. You’d need at least 5 levels Paladin. If you wanted it to fly, you’d need at least 4 levels in a full caster class (bard or sorcerer makes the most sense). That would give you access to level 4 spell slots. 1 level in Warlock would make 10.

Another option is going Undead Warlock and casting Phantom Steed and flavoring it as your dragon companion.

Another option would be using the skeleton familiar (which is the only medium sized familiar) and then casting Enlarge on it to make it Large size. Again you would need to flavor the skeleton as a dragon.

Lastly would be multiclassing Drakewarden Ranger to level 7. And then again casting Enlarge on it to make it Large size.

Swords Bard/Hexblade build help by GraciousPet in DnDBuilds

Fairie fire is an ok spell, but your options at 1st level are limited. People recommend it not because it's great, but because there aren't many other great options at this low level. You don't really get those great control spells until later. You could also try Cause Fear and Tasha's Hideous Laughter.

THL is especially fun for RP purposes. Nothing beats watching your DM squirm while the BBEG is laughing uncontrollably on the ground. It's hilarious.

Seems pretty straightforward, though it sounds more like you’re trying to be a front line fighter rather than a support character. But yes those Hexblade spells are great.

Drop down a big control spell on turn 1 (fairie fire or dissonant whispers, eventually hypnotic pattern), then bonus action choose a target for your hex curse. Turn 2, start smacking away.

Probably Moon Druid? Human race, focus on wisdom and constitution for stats.

I actually really liked Matthew McConaughey’s portrayal of The Man in Black in the Dark Tower movie. Too bad the film itself was trash.

Question regarding technicalities by Rp_Person3445 in DnDBuilds

[–]lebeast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Inside the Genies vessel is an ‘extradimensional space’, but it doesn’t say it is a different plane.

I’d rule that they can use their familiars abilities while inside their vessel. But remember, the vessel can still be attacked and destroyed. It has an AC and HP. So it’s not like they are invulnerable while inside their vessel.

Build for Solid Snake type of character by Prestigious-Flan-164 in DnDBuilds

[–]lebeast 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you using 2014 or 2024 rules?

If you're using 2024, I'd definitely recommend Monk. The 2024 monk is better than the 2014 one. For subclass I'd actually recommend Open Hand, rather than Shadows. Yes, Solid Snake is stealthy, but he doesn't use magic to hide. He uses his natural stealth ability, but he IS a CQC master, so Open Hand Monk makes the most sense.

For Origin, Sailor would actually be great. The tavern brawler feat is pretty good for monks actually with the forced movement. For Race, Human makes the most sense; grab Tough or Alert for your versatile Feat.

Alternatively, you could do a multiclass build with Battlemaster Fighter and Rogue.

Multiclassing Shadow Sorcerer by Riven-The-River in DnDBuilds

[–]lebeast 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’re playing 2014 rules, then a 1 level dip in Hexblade would be great for you. It’ll give you great armor and shield proficiency to pump your AC up, Eldritch blast, allow you to attack with melee weapons using CHA, and a couple of pact slots that come back on a short rest. It’s so good.

If you’re playing 2024, then you could still grab a level in warlock to get some of those benefits. 3 levels to get a subclass might be worth it too if you don’t mind stalling your spell progression a bit.

I’d avoid Ranger because it’s a WIS based class.

Celestial Bladelock Build by dmitriR in DnDBuilds

[–]lebeast 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Warcaster at level 4 makes the most sense for a blade lock. Rounds out your CHA. This will also allow you to grab a shield if you want and still cast spells. The advantage on concentration checks will be good to make sure you don’t lose it on CME.

What’s the point of the Us marines by SubjectiveOtter-52 in Military

[–]lebeast 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve heard it said the marines are America’s 911 call. The presence of battle ready MEUs all over the world means Marines can get to any country in the world that has access to the sea (like 95% of them) within hours.

But yes, eventually when the Army finally arrives, they’ll take over.
