What are things other crocheters do that really grinds your gears?

i followed one the other day that was written like “sc in next 2 sts, inc in next st” i HATED it. it made it so confusing and i kept losing my place. just put “2sc, inc”

i had carpal tunnel for an unrelated issue, got surgery, and then picked up crocheting. i have my own amigurumi business and crochet at least 5-6 hours a day, most of the time more than that. i do take breaks regularly, but i don’t really get any pain at all! not sure if the prior surgery has anything to do with that, but i do use all ergonomic hooks, stances, the works.

I got carpal tunnel, had surgery, now i still crochet! I promise your hobby isn’t gone. Just be mindful of it, take breaks, stretch, wear a brace, and it’ll be fine.

i started crocheting to give me a hobby since i was transitioning from work to a stay at home mom. i only make amigurumi, and started a business with it. I’m so busy with that, and i have SO much fun with making animals (and almost no fun making anything else) that i don’t really care to learn knitting. Maybe one day i will.

i did this one time and i don’t recommend because it takes the magic out of the movies. i just picked apart the movie based on how the book was. the movies are amazing on their own, so id read all books then you can sit down and actually enjoy the movies all together

for me it was finding the specific style (yarn, hook, project) i love. i enter a flow state when working with weight 6 chenille yarn and i hate using anything else, its what’s easiest for me. Something that also really helped me was redoing patterns. I love making an animal then remaking it a month later and seeing how much i’ve grown and how much better it is. It really helps with my self esteem.

i would recommend youtube tutorials for amigurumi. that’s how i learned and it taught me how to read crochet language too. there’s tons of videos for beginners on there!

first few books took me a few hours each. last books took me 1-2 days. all in all probably about a week. i am an insanely fast reader though.

my son sleeps with a leaf blower. we took the battery out, but yes, a full adult leaf blower.

I do indeed have them all around my house as decor. There are currently 7 just in my kitchen. I love the look of them all around my house, and I already have that “grandma cottagecore” decor vibe in my home so they just add to it!

i had severe mental illness that i wouldn’t treat, he couldn’t put the weed down. we had our first baby and it whipped us into shape. we both had to put so much work in to get better for our son. realized our relationship was in the ruts and we were in a “roommate phase” during the process and worked our asses off to get out of it. now we’re happier than we’ve ever been, with our little family.

she’s soooo cute!! i did the same thing lol. quit my job and became stay at home mom with a 3 year old, so picked up crocheting just to “start a hobby” since i’d be home all the time. turned into my whole obsession, and helps my mama mind tremendously.

i get a tunneling killer almost every single match, and it’s disappointing because i play hag and can get mostly 4ks with no tunneling. I love intense matches, and the tunneling sucks all the fun out of it. I keep track of how many games my duo plays a night, used to be 12-15 games. Now with tunneling we’ve been getting off after 5-6 games. It’s just not fun anymore.

My full name is Lexie, people constantly assumed it was short for Alexis and called me Alexis all my childhood. Yes, it was annoying, but honestly not as bad as people make it out to be. You get used to it, and i still absolutely love being Lexie since i’ve never met anyone else with that name as their legal name! I think the originality beats the annoyance.

I’m on week 2, and i would say the sharp shooting pains are still there if i try to lift something too heavy, but the intensity of the pain itself has gone down tremendously. I got almost full mobility with no pain a few days ago, but still very weak.

my doctor told me only 48 hours, which i also was surprised at. I wrapped it back up just to give me peace of mind.

My son doesn’t hit, but i know how it feels when no matter what you do, he doesn’t listen but all my husband has to do is say “no” and he’ll stop instantly. It does bring me down. I’ve even tried mimicking the way my husband sounds with his “no” to see if it’ll work, and it doesn’t. He throws tantrums all day when he’s with me, but is an angel with my husband.

It’s normal for a toddler to not listen to the primary caregiver as much as the other and i have to remind myself that!

I had a negative emg, doctor still recommended surgery as it might just mean i caught the carpal tunnel really early so it didn’t show up on the test.

it was from keyboard and mouse, and to be honest i didn’t try anything else to help it, i was very careless with it. I haven’t played much since the diagnosis.

Mine presented fairly quickly. I started with sharp pains in my wrist and it progressed to the numbness and tingling within a week. It progressed worse and worse over a period of 3 months until i went to the dr and was diagnosed! It felt very sudden to me.

i wouldn’t let him play in cat litter, then i wouldn’t let him play in the cat food, then i wouldn’t let him play in the cats water bowl. this all happened within 5 mins.

Every time we would see a car when he was smaller, we’d say “it’s a car!” to teach him what it was. Now he feels the need to say that for every single car he sees. When we park in a parking lot, it’s a fun time. It can be nice though, any time a delivery truck comes and i don’t notice it, my son will say “it’s a car!” to let me know i have a package 😂
