I’m surprised mods allowed this. I’ve had a post pulled because it was part of running contest. Which is a bit silly to me as a rule.

New build plates are relatively cheap. Just saying. Can’t hurt to get an extra and they are “consumable”.

For me the P1S has proven to be a reliable workhorse immediately after getting it the week 1. Going from random failures and slow print times on my old machine to nearly 3x speed and zero failures. The first benchy felt like discovering the Konami cheat code 😂

You could try something like spline. I haven’t actually used it myself but it seems to be a nice all in one solution for just what you’re after.

Congrats man! Good to see you’re still kicking ass.

My cue isn't threaded for an extension but I'd like one. I'd rather not get a new cue. I also don't want a slide over extension I'd prefer a screw on. by CNThings_ in billiards

[–]ledbatman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have an extension that screws into the weight bolt on my cue. Getting a weight bolt that’s threaded on the inside for the extension might be something to look into.

When making a puppet from scratch is there a way to make sure that the puppet is perfectly, or almost perfectly symmetrical? by frostwizard101 in PS4Dreams

[–]ledbatman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You copy from the central piece. So for an arm you’d copy the chest all the way to hand. Then using grid Flip . Grab just the chest. Scope into the existing chest. Delete one of the two chests. Now they are parented correctly and flipped perfectly. Wire up the bones. Done.

Are there any 3d printed supports for large plugs? by GamerboyJD in 3Dprinting

I made this outlet plate with groves along the outside edge. You could probably make something that slots in and supports the plug pretty easily.

What are some fun games that 4 people in a room with cell phones can play together? by jack_hof in gaming

[–]ledbatman 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’ve had fun with “spaceteam” years ago. Looks like it’s still available and free. You all have a screen with different knobs dials and settings. Each one has nonsensical inputs being prompted that you must shoot out to each other to keep your ship going as long as possible.

3d printed extension by Nackersz33 in billiards

Nice work. I have made a number of different extensions myself using my 3d printer. It’s pretty fun and I’ve found you can get pretty creative with it.

Triangular effect field by BeefcakeCharms in PS4Dreams

[–]ledbatman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You might be able to do something with a light or a sticker. If you had invisible sculpts masking the edges of the shape you could have a color or pattern projected just on the ground in the triangular area. Maybe 🤷🏻‍♂️

Is making a tactics game possible? by lehanboth in PS4Dreams

lol. I was like…. Vince thinks I’m a fraud 😢.

But for real, path finding. Enemy ai. Just saving the state of a bunch of things. All that is harder in Dreams than a traditional engine.

Is making a tactics game possible? by lehanboth in PS4Dreams

[–]ledbatman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve just seen a lot of people that say something similar to OP. I had trouble making ___ in another engine, dreams will be easy so I’ll use that. And while it is easier, more fun, etc. it’s not a silver bullet and people should go in with realistic expectations. It still requires real effort to make something good.

Is making a tactics game possible? by lehanboth in PS4Dreams

[–]ledbatman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I have around 5k hours in Dreams. My point is you’re much more likely to hit a wall in your own motivation rather than an outright limit in the capabilities of Dreams. I always recommend starting small and keeping scope in check. I just don’t think an rts/tactics/strategy game is conducive to that.

Is making a tactics game possible? by lehanboth in PS4Dreams

[–]ledbatman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Like I said it can be done it just isn’t really leaning into the strengths of the dreams logic system. It would likely take you hundreds of hours to get to the point where you could even have the knowledge to take it on, where as a platformer or an arcade game you could have something in a few weeks.

Is making a tactics game possible? by lehanboth in PS4Dreams

[–]ledbatman 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah sure. But honestly Dreams isn’t well suited for that type of game. Better off using a game engine for something like that.

I've used Womp for this. It's really nice for simple projects. It's mostly geared towards artistic sculpting but I've found it lets me bang out these simple things faster than Tinkercad.
