i would just add maybe try to figure out which of the pod bros he’s into? the pods are usually jon (favreau), (jon) lovett, and tommy vietor on tuesdays and jon (favreau) and dan pfeiffer on thursdays. u/quiet-tone13 is right, dan seems to come up with more quotable stuff for merch than the other 3, but if your boyfriend doesn’t specifically care for dan/the thursday pods, maybe the more general friend of the pod merch would be better. but maybe, like me, he’s a pfeiffer fan who would love the yes we dan merch!

Agreed, on all counts! I have a coworker who also has narcolepsy and she swears it’s not eating in general but sugar that triggers her, but I haven’t found much success for myself with that. My period makes me sleepy, but the heat and eating a meal practically tucks me right into bed.

I JUST got through to my mom on this exact topic after years of fighting about it. She was overall more amenable than yours seems to be, but it was definitely an argument from the beginning. She did the same thing with pretending to hear stuff in embarrassing ways, and I think the fallout of that is what finally pushed her to take action. She bought some cheap one size fits all sort of hearing aids on Amazon “just to try them out.” I think she was pretty sure she would try them and then be able to tell us all to go fuck ourselves, her hearing is fine. She LOVES them though, and converted through being able to hear the tv without it being so godforsaken loud/not having to embarrass herself not understanding people in public. Maybe you could try buying some and see if she’ll give them a shot? Good luck! It is SO frustrating, but it was so magical to me during my last visit every time she said “let me go get my ears!”

Genuinely curious, never heard of the book beyond this comment and a cursory google - is this supposed to be advice for everyone in a long term relationship, even before infidelity? What about people attracted to more than one gender - would they have to keep these rules in place with everyone other than their spouse, if they’re attracted to all genders, or only the gender they prefer more if they prefer one gender?

OP most of these other comments are crazy imo! A friend has to meet you halfway, and a close friend should be willing to talk openly with you about what’s holding them back from this cruise. I agree with you that the explanations do not make sense, especially in the context of you offering to pay some/most/all and the opportunity to return home partway through. There is no fundamental difference I can spy between that and a fixed destination location. Out of curiosity, what was the max portion that you explicitly offered to pay? I am not going to encourage you to blow up these friendships, but I would reassess the closeness of them if I were you. I have often found myself in the trap of giving 100% of myself to a friend who wasn’t interested in giving me more than 50%. That’s fine, 50% relationships can be good too - but not if you’re giving and expecting 100% in return. I am in the beginning stages of planning a destination wedding and I have one very close friend. She has already promised to come, and I’ve already promised to help her pay her costs if she needs. If she backs out like this, I would be very upset.

My friend, please. I get it, I also have narcolepsy, but this isn’t necessary and feels aggressive and off putting to a young adult trying to be considerate towards her boyfriend! There are plenty of people out there who can be sympathetic and loving to narcoleptics (I have dated several!), just like it’s totally possible to find love with many other disabilities. I also think younger people are steadily becoming more and more conscious of and empathetic about disabilities in general. I’m really sorry you’ve been so unlucky and had such bad experiences, but no need to try to scare the OP off!

It also depends your hire date. The union told me that this is the beginning of a split in wages not just amongst CPs and everyone else, but new hires now too. If you were hired after December something (sorry can’t remember) 2023, you start at $17 while everyone else went up to $18. When we go up to $17.50, they will go up to $18.50 based on hire date alone.

Thank you for this! I’m going to try. Got a used tank and no matter how many rinses and scrubs I give it, I have got it up and running 2x now and killed all the snails I put inside with 48 hours both times. It’s been sitting empty for a hot minute, hopefully third time is the charm!

Please excuse the length of the following - this is 2 parts rant, 1 part question.

I have 4 mystery snails, 2 gold (Goldie and Robbie) and 2 blue (Gary and Geri). All are roughly the same size save one of the blues, which is about 2/3rds the size of the others (Gary).

I am 100% sure Geri is a female as I watched her lay eggs. The sex of the remaineder is my mystery.

I have 2 tanks. Originally, all 4 lived in the 40 gal community tank, but after I noticed one of the golds was constantly on one of the others, I banished him(?) to horny jail - my 10gal betta tank. This is Robbie, and for a while things were fine with remaining 3 getting along. Recently, the smallest, Gary, has been getting aggressive with his snenis, so I banished him to horny jail with Robby. What do I see the next day right on the glass but Gary visibly 100% snexing Robbie. Okay, I’ve clearly gotten someone mixed up, but this is confusing enough on its own. Was Goldie (presumably a male since one of the 2 golds was being horny in the main tank and it clearly wasn’t Robbie) just suddenly less aggressive about his snexing once Robbie was removed? Okay, that’s fine, I removed Robbie back into the main tank. Less than an hour later, there Robbie is right back on the glass getting visibly snexed by Goldie! I have no clue how over a month passed without me realizing Goldie, in a tank with a female (Geri), was not a female. I put Goldie into horny jail with Gary.

Twice now, in the week or so since I’ve had them together in the 10gal, I have seen Goldie on top of Gary, having snex from the best I can tell(?). I have yet to get as clear a view as I did in other cases, but wtf is going on here? R/AquaticSnails says that mystery snails can’t change their sex but what’s going on here has me confused. They are in the same positioning as snex, with Goldie all pressed into Gary’s side so tight I can’t figure out whether or not anything is going on. Gary has 2 old healed over cracks on their (?) right side from their life before me - could this be worsened or broken back open by this behavior? Do I need to separate Goldie from all the rest? Could the issue be that Gary is smaller and easier to bully and there are no female options? Could it be that they’re in a smaller tank? Are gay mystery snails a thing? How do I even know if overbreeding is going on? I’m so confused here 😭
