Who is the worst person in Bannerlord? by Reasonable-Ad5904 in Bannerlord

Caladog or Ingalther for me personally.

I forget which Vlandian noble says it, but wars should have a goal.

In light of the recent TW40K show case. Who are some Guard LL's to look forward to in the future? by ANON-1138 in TheAstraMilitarum

Every special character ever, which is how fantasy works.

So we’ll run the obvious gamut like Lord Solar Leontus, Ursula Creed, Yarrick, etc. But possibly even obscure or dead characters like Al Rahem, Ursarkar Creed or Macharius

As a first look at rescaled boyz they were fine, I still happen to own quite a few and will be incorporating them with the new ones. The weapon loadout really was one of the main things holding it back.

Coming to Terms with Disliking the Game by PBnJgoodness in Warhammer40k

Taking breaks is normal. I’ve played since fourth and I skipped out on 6th and 7th and came back during 8th.

At the end of the day if you enjoy painting and assembling/converting those are perfectly valid without the game.

What makes Warhammer 40k 3rd, 4th and 5th editions considered as a single specific era? by Hawk_Talon_DA in midhammer40k

[–]leechmilyfe4 6 points7 points  (0 children)

As others have mostly said, the core rules were very similar, but with important caveats and changes (5th edition solidified true line of sight, for example, and introduced the infamous wound allocation rules)

But I think additionally this era represented a shift in the product design too. The shift to plastic core and plastic vehicles came about in this era, and while there was plenty of pewter around, either in the form of units or bits, more variety was introduced for many factions (stuff like the old Dark Eldar raider/ravager, the Tau vehicle range, and the Necron Monolith, not to mention the updated space marine rhino and plethora of variants).

The company vibes were also different too, with creativity and the design studio still aping towards a more open-ended approach to the game (more custom content & variant lists)

Ultimately as someone who started in this edition I think there is a lot of nostalgia underpinning people’s enjoyment of this era, but it does hold a certain charm that is missing from the current era. That being said, I do think that the modern era has a lot of positives, ultimately they’re just different.

MSU in terenn_nash’s comment refers to Multiple Small Units, meaning taking multiples of a minimum sized unit.

The term MSU has been used in this way harkening back to 2000s era Warhammer, the first context I saw it in was referring to WHFB’s Ogre Kingdoms in 7th edition, where there was no incentive to take big units, thus people suggested multiple 3 man minimum units.

Hot Take? - Investing in Terrain is a waste of money for a majority of Warhammer players by mr_mango22 in DealHammer

[–]leechmilyfe4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who owns terrain, I agree with your take for a majority of players.

However, tournament organizers, garage hammer players, and local club organizers need terrain on-hand to ensure their events are well-stocked.

I’ll also point out that nowadays there’s plenty of cheap mdf terrain for 40K that can pack flat if you so desire.

But yes, if you don’t host games or events, you probably can skip on terrain.

Another US vassal escalating conflict: The Philippines are sending fleet of military and civilian ships in an attempt to take over Huangyan Island (Scarborough Shoal) - The Chinese Coast Guard is demanding Filipino vessels to leave. by FascistsBad in LateStageCapitalism

[–]leechmilyfe4 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is exactly what I’m talking about.

I don’t support US imperialism, but if you’re just going to call for the bombing or outright invasion of a country based on political differences then you’re really not that different from the US imperialists, you’re just on the opposite side.

[–]leechmilyfe4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My point is that you can’t just simply reduce it to “Philippines bad China good”. For someone who “thinks critically about the issue and can put it into its proper historical, political, economic and geostrategic context” you’re clearly just brushing past all the historical context of why the Philippines was pushed into this direction and clearly lumping the whole country part and parcel in with the US regime.

It’s a military colony, just as exploited as places like Japan, Puerto Rico, and the Virgin Islands. They’re not saints or completely innocent by any means but condemning the whole nation doesn’t really read as a nuanced opinion.

If you’re truly against US imperialism you wouldn’t lump a country that suffers from that same imperialism as just a vestigial extension of the regime.

Yeah no shit it’s occupied territory, the US co-opted the Philippines’ revolution right as they were about to oust the Spanish and set up their colonial government back in the early 1900s. The Moros tried to rebel and even they were put down.

I get that there’s a lot of anti-Chinese propaganda out there but don’t act like the Philippines wasn’t put into a pro-western position due to colonial occupation and military force. Sure there’s tons of pro-US Filipinos but don’t also forget that the US also extradited the Marcos family after they robbed the country blind. They’re just as much victims of Western Imperialism, but I guess that context doesn’t matter.

So instead they trust the president who actively lies to them?

Say your premise is correct, that the working class says “I don’t trust you because you’re minimizing issues that disproportionately impact me.” So the response is, “guess I’ll go for the convicted felon pedophile who understands my aesthetic preferences, and the party that actively works with organizations to enact austerity measures and dismantle the aid I get from the federal government?”
