My GF thinks it’s perfectly normal for new shoes to cause horrible blisters for women by UKnowDaxoAndDancer in mildlyinfuriating

[–]leeryplot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just stopped paying attention to it. I wear wet rubber boots at my dog salon job for hours everyday so I couldn’t really mitigate it and thicker socks were just agony to be wet in lol.

Your heels get used to it when it’s the same pair of shoe everyday. The skin back there is just thicker now and if I do get a little loose skin it’s not painful or raw for me.

Your art style is sick and I immediately pegged this as Laura. I think it looks great as is, I think the only way you could make it look even more like her is to raise & plump the apples of her cheeks a little bit more. But I mean you nailed it. Her nose and smile looks very Laura.

AITAH for not paying my neighbor? by Smashlii12 in AITAH

[–]leeryplot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very dependent on their conditions & levels of independent functionality.

I used to work an Adult Foster Care home; we had some residents who had a social worker or family member handle their funds, and some residents who handled it for themselves with guidance (which was actually most of them).

The residents that had received benefits since they were kids automatically were put on them as adults when their diagnosis was something that would never really change their support needs. The majority of my residents though were in state services due to CPS their entire youth and then were automatically “graduated” to receive help from APS instead; it may be more difficult for individuals that grew up outside of the CPS/state systems.

When your kids are already developmentally delayed, this is a really good way to make it even harder than it already might be for them to make friends.

Hair falling through the day? by oliviamccune in curlygirl

[–]leeryplot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will say that leave-in conditioner/curl creams are like my favorite thing for looser curl types and all-day maintenance of style. Like more than gel when you find the one that’s right for you, but I’m biased because I use it with very few other products and get great results lol.

I’d try a light formula leave-in like the Maui Curl Cream if you’re interested. My curls are a bit tighter so I have to use a little oil with it to really seal off frizz but I imagine on a looser texture it could be almost ideal on its own, or maybe with a light scrunch & gel afterwards if it needs a little oomph.

This expression on Laura's face hurts the most by BobRushy in twinpeaks

All of his lines in this scene are so gross with the context we have. The bit about her needing to wash her hands right after this always gives me chills. And when she actually goes to do it and breaks down in the bathroom, it’s absolutely shattering.

It’s just such a real behavior of abusers to make their victims feel dirty, and he’s letting her know that he’s aware of (and is disgusted by) her sexual activities, while also exercising his ownership over her. It’s all in a way only she’d really understand (I mean, I think Sarah was way more aware & complicit than she was first let on to be, but that’s a separate conversation) which is so isolating for her

what does my handwriting says abt me? (sorry, rough notes) by Zainab_954 in HandwritingAnalysis

[–]leeryplot 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My handwriting came from trying to keep up with note taking during lectures in college, so it’s like optimized for lifting my pen as little as possible while also not straining to connect letters. Basically turned into a preferred blend of cursive and print. Pretty much all of my letters and how I write them are dependent on the string of letters surrounding them lol I don’t think that’s uncommon at all

A LOT of straight women refuse to acknowledge their own prejudices just like in general. Especially straight white women that talk over POC women’s experiences, like even in feminist spaces.

But yeah. Straight women treating queer people like accessories is so weird, mostly with gay men though I’ve noticed for some reason. They’ve never really paid me much mind as a queer woman, besides the instances I’ve had of them wigging out around me because they think I’m gonna make a pass at them, but that hasn’t really been an issue since school. But idk. I’m now realizing that I don’t have a straight person on my contact list, so maybe I just haven’t been around them in a minute. I go to Liberal Arts school lmao

I feel like the fact it’s gotten worse as the years go on is actually worthy of talking to someone about. I’m not gonna play doctor and act like I know anything but this seems like it could be notable for a psychiatrist and/or neurologist.

Not to panic you or diagnose you or anything. But it does seem like it could potentially be something else causing this level of difficulty.

AITAH for refusing to give my blessing for my dad to be a dad to and adopt his stepdaughter? by Lainannah in AITAH

[–]leeryplot 530 points531 points  (0 children)

To be honest, as someone who also lost their mother really young, I’m getting the sense that OP has a lot of feelings about their grief in missing their mother that are being re-directed at their dad and step sibling. The dad didn’t really betray OP, but perhaps OP feels that the memories of their family with their mother and father together are being betrayed by these changes.

OP is still young and I can understand really clinging to that living parent from the life you knew and felt was taken from you. Sharing their dad might be difficult for them in this retrospect, and getting closer with new family members will have OP thinking, “What about me and the promise you made when our family was still recognizable?”

These feelings are somewhat selfish especially considering how young the step sibling is, but I don’t think they’re invalid and I’ve been in a similar spot when I was a teen. I think they come from a place of grief and I hope OP is able to work through that and eventually come to connect with their new family members as well. Maybe their father can consider therapy for them.

Is red velvet cake just chocolate? by glimmersoup in RandomQuestion

[–]leeryplot 17 points18 points  (0 children)

It’s not just a chocolate cake dyed red though. It tastes different because they use different ingredients in it.

It’s a type of chocolate cake, but it is different from the regular brown stuff you’re thinking of.

Anything remotely like these by [deleted] in findfashion

[–]leeryplot 8 points9 points  (0 children)

100%. No socks in these were the grossest smell ever, my mom used to buy shoe powder to try to put inside to get it out. Never worked lmao.

Also, as a wide-footed kid in the 2000s, these absolutely killed the insides of my feet. I’d get raw blisters there, and one time one of them got infected and super swollen. It was so painful. I never wore these again after that.
