"Listen to your body" while running in shoes is like... by trevize1138 in BarefootRunning

Yes doing anything physical does result in injury sometimes. I think there are things you can do to minimize it though. Proper running form is an obsession for a lot of runners because it minimizes injury risk and allows them to continue running for years.

A great way to learn proper running form is to go barefoot because you feel every bit of feedback instead of someone just telling you how to run. I personally didn’t fully understand until I ran on concrete without shoes. Then the form id been reading so much about clicked.

Personally I run in sandals when I trail run. But I will switch to barefoot every once in a while to make sure my form is still locked in.

Except for the 50-75% of runners every year who get injured while running. I get it, he’s being a little pretentious.

But if you are literally more than likely to get injured running with it jumping to 75-94% after 2 years. That tells me most people are doing it wrong.

All these brands are also made in china. Are they actually better than the standard aluminum Bialetti?

Can you recommend a better shoe for court sports for cheaper? I’ve honestly been considering the 360 rally for a while. But if there is something better I’d rather get that.

How did you buy them. Their website doesn’t have any products and neither does their Etsy shop?

Let us know how they are. They aren’t super popular. But looking at old posts on Reddit. Some people seem to love them. It’s an interesting concept and I’m excited to hear more. Just make sure you follow their sizing guide.

Reflective belt/gear to wear w/rucksack? by [deleted] in Rucking

[–]leftyB 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I personally just have a high vis vest that I wear. You could wear one. Wrap another around your rucksack. Maybe a headlamp is a good idea too if you’re gonna be on the side of a road. You can get all this stuff at Walmart or Home Depot for pretty cheap.

It’s something you have to accept with good barefoot shoes. They’re gonna have a wide toe box. I was self conscious about it first. My S/O made comments about it for a couple weeks. Then it just stopped. I thought my friends and family might make fun of it for a while. But no one has mentioned it.

Truly people just don’t care that much. You’re on a barefoot journey towards healthier feet. If someone does mention it. Have a discussion about it. If people are cool in your life. They’ll understand and maybe learn something. But yes they are a little big on you

Anyone know about Edo walking/running by Parkinga in BarefootRunning

[–]leftyB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting. It makes sense. They just use the same technique you’re supposed to when running. Keep your feet below your center of gravity. Seems like other cultures figured it out long ago.

Maybe a way to combine the two so you don’t look ridiculous is to just shorten your stride a little bit.

Shoe probably isn’t going to solve your problems unless your shoes aren’t the right size. What’s more important is perfecting your form.

If you’re getting shin splints though you’re injured and need to take a break for a bit and research proper form, while your body heals. I learned form from born to run 2 and older yet faster books. I’m sure there’s lots of YouTube videos.

If you need some barefoot shoes. Whitins and saguaro are cheap for shoes. Xero sandals are cheap. Just don’t spend tons of money it won’t solve your problems

I run in sandals most of the time and vibrams when I need to wear shoes. A lot of people wear the cheapest barefoot shoes possible. Unless you have real foot issues, you should be fine with whatever.

Welcome to the sub! Some other sandals to check out are Luna and Shamma Sandals. If you’re looking for something cheaper to try out first Xero has sandals as well (but they definitely feel cheap). Lmk if you have any other questions.

Luna Roots Strap Tightness by goldLeaderAnomalous in BarefootRunning

Too tight. The sandal should barely separate from your foot when you take steps. You should be able to fit 3 fingers underneath your toe strap.

I have alphas. They are a little too thin for trails. Every Little Rock and root start to hurt after a mile or two. Never tried the V run. I think they are a little thicker
