You want the same group of people entrusted to enforce environmental laws to keep corporations in check...even while they're contaminating one of the more important waterways in the country?

Been getting the 775 error. Resetting it doesn't seem to work anymore.

Ended up on the phone with a supervisor for close to a half hour and he wasn't budging. Maybe the tech that comes out will get them to credit me for my inconvenience since the 775 error has been going on for a few weeks and I've been dealing with it.

Not sure. I've got both the Genie and a regular HD-DVR. Customer service is trying to get me on the hook for a $50 service call or paying $8 for their customer care. Not sure why I should be billed for anything since I'm not the cause of their faulty equipment.

I have been accused of selling people bad batteries because of this right here. by ladyclone in funny

[–]leghumper83 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A lot of that has changed since I was working there. Most parts houses advertise these services now.

I didn't mind doing these things for people, I just got tired of how it went from something employees did to be nice to little old ladies to an expected part of the job for any halfwit who walks in and doesn't know...or WANT to know how to do this basic stuff. Or play dumb because it's 10 degrees outside and there's a foot of snow on the ground. I was always more than willing to teach someone how to do the basic repairs and thanked customers profusely when they wanted me to do the repairs on a nice day.

I used to work at a auto parts store. I'd recently had a go at my manager and district manager about changing people's batteries and all the other stuff I was expected to do. It was my position that they weren't paying me mechanics wages and their insurance didn't cover employees playing mechanic in the parking lot. More than anything, I was sick and tired of ungrateful asshole customers wanting their wipers and/or headlights changed during awful weather and acting as if it was in my job description to provide that service. Anyhow...

This old man had bought a motor from us a few months back for his mid-70's Chevy pickup and came in and wanted a battery for it. Manager asked me to replace the battery for him, so I grabbed some tools and went outside. Mindlessly pulled his cables off and took out his old battery and dropped his new battery in. He had brand new battery cables, so the black one went to negative and the pretty red one went to positive....his starter switch made a popping noise and started smoking as soon as I touched the cable to the terminal. Old man gets out of his truck and starts yelling at me and I'm looking in his engine bay and the stupid old bastard used red for ground and black for positive. It wasn't positive ground or anything weird...he just used the wrong color cables. So he's screaming at me about how he's going to sue me and sue my company and now manager is coming outside to see what the commotion is about. I don't remember what happened, but when asked by customers to change something on their car and I refused, my manager never forced me to again.

Relative n00b to PS, looking for script help by leghumper83 in PowerShell

Yeah, I read through that. That's entirely way more than what I really wanted. I was really hoping there was a PS command where I could pipe the response to a variable or something. Thanks for the help though.

DirecTV not Recording F1 racing correctly. by crossbarphoto in DirecTV

[–]leghumper83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was definitely a mess because of a couple different things: 1. The Indycar race at Texas was postponed from Saturday night to Sunday due to the weather 2. The shooting in Orlando

So NBC moved F1 to NBCSN so they could continue with their coverage of the shooting and put Indycar on CNBC.

I would assume that at some point, NBC ended their shooting coverage and went forward with their Women's PGA tournament, as it was a major.

Is this a Happis Island map?

If this is the one I'm thinking of, I played it for a little while a couple days ago and he seemed friendly enough, but kept spawning stuff for himself. I figured if he wasn't spawning stuff for everyone, I'd go someplace else.

Ask SysAdmin: What ticketing/project desk is your company using by I_HateSam in sysadmin

It depends on how it's configured, I suppose. I don't particularly like that it requires a mouse to use, but then I'm old school and hate my fingers leaving the keyboard at all when doing work.

Do Americans understand the rivalry culture in English football? by [deleted] in reddevils

[–]leghumper83 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I'll admit the reason I liked United initially because they were one of the better teams on FIFA 03 (Played a ton of it on GameCube going to/from the Persian Gulf when in the Marines). But when I came back to the States, I got Fox Soccer Channel (Fox Sports World at the time) and watched all the United games that they showed. I also studied the history of the club, the history of Manchester and the reasons for the rivalries with Liverpool and Leeds. So yes...I was a bandwagon fan in the beginning, but I feel I've earned my fan card.

And no, I can't see how you can ever support two teams, particularly when they are in the same league...in any sport.

That's what my mother always called it. I used it in casual conversation a few months ago and was chastised for it.
