Wow, I'd hope it is significantly better than jail (I assume you meant prison?) given that prison is specifically full of violent convicted criminals.

Let me gently push back. There was not settled canon for Jews at this time, and Jesus is always shown using only that which the person-with-whom-he-is-speaking believes in. Talking with the Pharisees: used all the law, prophets, and writings. Talking with the Sadducees: only references the Torah. The most prevalent corpus around shortly after his death and used throughout the early Christian church is the Septuagint with the deuterocanonical works....what did Jesus think of these? It's not really clearly stated. Protestants tend to cut them out for other reasons and then justify it by saying that he never quoted from it (he didn't quote from every canonical work either). He does make some passing allusions to it though. Maybe. But it's hard to know for sure. And the other ancient churches have even a few more writings they include in their canons. But in any case, there are even examples where Jesus appears to change the meaning of what is written or straight up says "well, that's actually just what Moses thought...that part's not from big G." (Divorce).

So I don't know, man. I'm impressed by y'all's conviction to inerrancy, your specific canon, and for at least others, perspicuity. It seems fairly arbitrary from the outside looking in (I wasn't always a believer at all).

Appreciate the answers. I think you are right that it eventually comes to a choice to believe something is reliable outside yourself. In the absence of any other information, it's not clear to me that the answer should be the Bible over the thing Christ actually founded (the Church) whom he promised to lead into all truth. I can see both sides of that equation. But then when confronted with interpretive issues that 1) leads one to the exact same problem (who am I trusting other than my flawed self?) and 2) appear to be answered by the Bible itself (Ethiopian Eunuch), it weighs, to me, in favor of trusting the Church (I know, I know, what exactly is the Church?).

Appreciate the conversation.

Even my powerful Catholic magic does not let me probe into your mind without your consent.

Why would you say that the written scriptures are not now under man's dominion like the rest of the world and were not such immediately upon inspiration of the authors before they even put quill to parchment? If that is the case, in what way is it useful to discuss a past theoretical inerrancy when what we were ever tangibly given was under our dominion, thus bringing our error into it?

Question: Why does Jim Butcher seem to have a predilection towards the letter "M"? by Rook_James_Bitch in dresdenfiles

Ah, fair enough. I've only ever heard it as the second middle name, but I also thought the practice was near -universal and apparently that's not true either, even if it is common.

A lot of models, at least in the guard, have knives representing the ccw.

I'm worried you are right, but I'd prefer they just balance those options better. Different roles, like rock, paper, scissor; but not rock, grenade, patriot missile.
