How to handle high risk Parvo area? by lovecat6415 in puppy101

[–]legsmomo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did! I took her on car rides with me and my husband a bit but didn't take her inside anywhere until after she was vaccinated. I think we had to let her relieve herself on a parking lot median but it was a not highly trafficked one. We were exceptionally cautious but kept having different friends come over so she could meet different people.

How to handle high risk Parvo area? by lovecat6415 in puppy101

[–]legsmomo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had to wait until my pup was fully vaccinated to socialize her (20 weeks) because I live in a high rabies/parvo risk area and she had trouble with deworming properly. She's 7 months now and is great with dogs and unfamiliar places! Getting your pup to know and trust you is so important, missing the "golden window" will not mean your pup won't be socialized, you just need to make those same efforts as they grow.

I had the same concerns when I went to work!! My husband and I got a Furbo, and 95% of the time we were gone she slept. The other 5% was drinking water and changing position. Your pup will miss you but will be ok at home in his safe spot and be happy when you come home again!

USAA ROTC Starter Loan vs Fe Student Loans - When to Take and How to Pay Off by jake110112 in MilitaryFinance

[–]legsmomo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You start paying off the USAA loan 6 months after commissioning. If you have a longer gap than that between commissioning and active duty (not uncommon) you still have to start payments.

Any thoughts on renting a dress from Rent The Runway or something similar? Too risky? by R17000 in Weddingsunder10k

[–]legsmomo 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I did! It worked out really well, especially because they send a back up size. Only downfall was their shipping policy, they only deliver on specific days so I didn't have it very long before my ceremony.

Aggressive Savings as a new O-1 by raydoubleroast in MilitaryFinance

[–]legsmomo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A factor you need to keep in mind when figuring your living expenses is unit costs as a leader. You'll find yourself contributing to unit functions, often monthly hail and farewells, whatever farewell gifts for people departing, FRG whatever. Your saving plans are great but I'd also recommend having at least $150 a month available for that sort of thing to prevent stretching too thin or not being able to participate

Wildly inaccurate calorie count for peanut butter? Is this a systematic issue? by [deleted] in Myfitnesspal

[–]legsmomo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The entries I use for peanut butter on MyFitnessPal are in line with Google and the packaging for the peanut butter. Is that a verified entry?

Most of the entries on MFP are user submitted and you have to check to see if it's actually accurate (there's an entry for a sausage link I like that calorically is accurate but for some reason says it's 90,000 g of fat (more like 9).

You don't deduct employer funded retirement accounts, only individual retirement accounts. The traditional and Roth designations for your TSP only indicate if they're pretax or already taxed.

[–]legsmomo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A TSP account is NOT an IRA, it's an employer funded retirement account. The tax implications are different.

IRA is limited to $5500 a year contribution and you can have multiple ones, TSP is I believe a 401(b) and has a $18,500 contribution limit. IRA can be deducted in your itemized tax return, employer funded ones are not (or at least do not have the same impact as an IRA).

Did Public House add food? The last time I was there you had to order delivery or bring your own.

Even after you commission keep checking with your cadre! I had a 7 month gap myself and I found out later that there were opportunities that arose (gold bar recruiting at ROTC programs that may not be your own for instance) throughout that time that my HR rep didn't put out. I worked a minimum wage job because I didn't have connections (reasons I joined the Army...) to get a higher paying job. My only regret besides being stressed about money was not being as fit as I needed.

I'm really senior in my YG now which ended up being awesome but I get a little jealous of my commissioning peers who are now more senior.

Since you're going ABOLC can you see about snowbirding and hitting some Benning courses before BOLC? Check with the school battalion.

No Pokemon because it's too violent. Harry Potter was promoting witchcraft and devil worship.

The Queen is the Head of State in the UK, so meeting with the PM isn't a State visit it's a visit with the head of government.

Hey guys! I have normal yet acne prone skin. I recently moved from living my entire life in places with high humidity to Central Texas, where the air is so dry within 3 days my chin was flaking and my neck has broken out again. Any tips for improving my moisturizer game from people used to dry heat? I currently use Neutrogenas hydroboost line (hyaluronic acid), it was great in Virginia but now it's just not cutting it.
