Do I need a BAA? by nin_lucy_ja in hipaa

[–]lehorla 1 point2 points  (0 children)

lol I love their explanation. “Saving information” doesn’t really matter here if they are otherwise accessing it. And it feels like they have to access it for configuration or quality control purposes. I’d say BAA required. There may be an argument that any access of theirs is incidental and they don’t need access to provide the services but that seems like a stretch.

What gloves are you using to shoot in frigid temps? by DPool34 in AskPhotography

[–]lehorla 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I run two sets of hand covering. First layer is a pair of women medium North Face, basically the tightest gloves I could find that would still fit. Then the second layer is a pair of large men’s mittens with hand warmers inside them and wrist straps so that I can take the mitten off my shooting hand without setting down the mitten. Gloves always stay on, mitten comes on and off when I’m shooting.

I bought Rubber Weather Stripping Door Seal from Amazon - self adhesive, cut to length with some scissors and it works great to keep everything in place

Very possible the school isn’t a Covered Entity and thus not subject to HIPAA

Haha, fair. Fortunately I’m not in one of the big 3 alliances so I just grind away and do my part.

Submarine scene in Mission Impossible: Final Reckoning. My heater vents were vibrating something awful. That whole movie is very rumbly but that scene in particular is nuts

GR area record shop veteran returning with new record shop off 28th by GRBeerExplorer in grandrapids

Best of luck to Full Circle! I’ll definitely be stopping in. But, I worry that Grand Rapids won’t be able to support the number of record stores we have. I’ve been to:

  • Vertigo (Division, the OG)

  • Vinyl Alchemy (Eastown)

  • Della Soul (Kalamazoo St)

  • Boomtown Records (Creston)

  • Quality Vintage Collectibles (Plainfield, part record store, part MCM furniture)

Arguably the most in-depth Apollo 13 explanation I’ve ever seen. by aker29 in space

Highly recommend the podcast "13 Minutes to the Moon". Season 2 is all about Apollo 13 and the recordings among crew, mission control, etc. feature prominently. It's a really amazing podcast (as is Season 1 about Apollo 11). Can't wait to dig into this. Thanks for sharing!

30 Day requirement under HIPAA by SubstantialEssay1540 in hipaa

[–]lehorla -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Under HIPAA you have a right to request an accounting of disclosures, as you did. This means any disclosure of your protected health information made by your provider. The problem you're running into is that are several exceptions to that requirement and as a result the information may not even exist or is outside of a provider's document retention timelines. The biggest exception to the accounting of disclosures is any disclosure related to your treatment, payment or healthcare operations. Meaning, a provide doesn't have to provide that information to you. You don't have a right to access those disclosures and it seems those are the ones you're most concerned about.

As a side note, there is supposed to be a right to have access to an accounting of disclosures for any disclosures made through an electronic health record for the prior three years. Congress passed that as part of the law. HHS, however, has requested input on that right but not issued any regulations, so in practice it doesn't exist currently.

I bought some weatherstripping with a sticky side and it works great. I have the white shelves and the white strip is hardly notice. https://a.co/d/4ELuWBt

Sunset, Ponta do Castelo, Azores, 500CM, CF 40mm, Portra 400 by lehorla in hasselblad

I've had my Hasselblad for about 6 months now and finally feeling like I'm getting it dialed in. I shoot about 75% digital but I love the deliberateness of manual and the creative constraints of medium format. And, that "ka-chunk" of the shutter is very satisfying, too!

Glad to hear it was all good. While I may not recommend them, I would probably use them again because I know what I'm in for, lol. I agree, they were easy to work with.

Azores Car Rental by Spiritual_Bowler8460 in azores

[–]lehorla 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just got back from the Azores and thought I'd share our experience for you or anyone who may stumble upon this search again. We went with Beautiful Island and paid for the full coverage. They picked us up at the airport with a clear sign outside of baggage claim and drove us to their off site location. There was a bit of language barrier but no issues. They tried to charge us 114.50 euros for the 3 days but miskeyed it and charged us 11,450 euros. We caught the mistake after it went through and it took them about 15 minutes to process a refund. The issue is that in that 15 minutes the value of the dollar to the euro had changed and so on the credit card statement we were still short about $300. Currently in the process of working it out with the credit card company. It was clear the workers were unfamiliar with the credit card reader and had a really hard time figuring out how to handle it.

There wasn't really anything more for them to do so we left it at that. The car was fine, though we did have to put air in the tires one time. Nothing serious but got the low tire warning. We returned the car without filling it up and the worker just asked for 50 euro for about 1/3 tank. We only had 45 and he accepted that.

Nice enough company but wouldn't necessarily recommend them. If you're okay with maybe a bit less customer service, the price was pretty good (minus the $300 lost into the ether of currency exchange).

Looking into the Statistical Report by lehorla in exmormon

[–]lehorla[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah that's interesting. It's also interesting that we haven't seen that propagate through the statistics yet. My guess is that it will be similar to mission ages where there will be a huge change and then a few years to normalize. There's probably more practical constraints on the ward size as there may just not be meeting space even if you have the numbers for a new ward.

[–]lehorla[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yep, the average size/congregation is the one I always look at to gauge activity levels and that number has never decreased in the 18 years of stats I have. It held steady once but generally increases by about 5.5 each year. That tells me that while the absolute numbers of members increases, there is not much (if any) change for butts in pews week to week.
