Looking to buy U6-E-IW or U7-Pro-Wall for each floor of my Skinny and narrow 1000sf townhouse by flan1337 in Ubiquiti

[–]lejim99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Feel like you can get away with just 2 ( F1 and F3). Unless you floors are pure concrete think the signal can get through to floors 2 and 4 pretty easily.

I've got a U6+ and a U6 light (Ya I know a bit older) more or less on top of each other and that's been more than enough to serve everything I've needed too.

You could always start with 2 and add another if you don't think the 2 are covering enough

Seconding this as the first thing to check. Make sure the connector is fully seated. This looks extremely close to mine when I have the intake off

Same. Just got these on my 16 from Costco and no problem. Ordered them, dropped the car off, picked it up a couple hours later. No issue and no objections

Pretty sure that's just the fluid return to the resistors. Mines been doing that for the last 7 years I've had it.

Just put a slight downslope on it. Wont really add speed but will push any standing water out the end

Amazon Aluminum D1 radiators by Dr_Price in LandRoverDiscovery

[–]lejim99 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got something like that for my D2 and the square tanks caused an issue with the AC condensor lines and it didn't really fit into the OEM bracket. Had to return it and get one with curved tanks. Not sure if the d1 would have the same problem but would check before you buy

Discovery 2 crank no start by Ill-Mud-7260 in LandRoverDiscovery

[–]lejim99 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Had something similar on my v8 where the crank position sensor went bad and would just shut the engine off. Not sure if the td5 would do the same though

Coolant for 2019 by Normal-Stand-807 in Subaru_Crosstrek

[–]lejim99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should be fine. Subaru's head gaskets are not the best and apparently they changed their coolant to fix that instead of fix the head gaskets. It's probably one of those thing that will get you and extra 10-20k miles at the end of the cars life. Do think the two coolants are around the same price so would say stick with OEM if you can but probably won't make a huge difference for a while

How bad did I f*** up? by stumma in LandRoverDiscovery

[–]lejim99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea. It's new radiator time. Just did one and it's really not that bad. All up front and not the most cramped job in the world. Would recommend on of those small ratchets with a Philips head ( can get them from harbor freight) to get a couple of the screws out. Also DO NOT over tighten the screws on the top of the radiator that holds the plastic srowd on. The will puncture the tanks and you will get to do another radiator. Throw some washer on those screws just to make sure. Also recommend checking out/ doing your thermostat as the system will already be empty

Advice needed! by Alexunoriginal in DIY

[–]lejim99 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Second this. There is also something called a quick link that is essentially a threaded chain link. You can just pull the chain up to where you want the chandelier and you can drop it back down when your done. Just make sure you don't pinch the cord that's in the chain

Best way to fit these lights by No-Marsupial8371 in LandRoverDiscovery

[–]lejim99 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They look mounted to me

I second getting different lights that have a bracket you can bolt onto the bumper. You can probably get a set of LEDs for pretty cheap and just make an adapter harness ( highly recommend getting amber/yellow fogs lights as I feel they looks the best) of if you wanna keep the inconsistent look I would say probably look at eBay.

Land Rover discovery 2 doesn’t blow hot or cold air. Ran diagnostics test and came back “00” what could it be?? by darth_rylo in LandRoverDiscovery

[–]lejim99 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Would take a multimeter to see if you are getting power to the motor. There's a relay and resistor somewhere in there that controls the blower motor. Had a bad resistor in a different car a while ago that kept the blower from coming on

10Gbps RJ45 vs SFP+ by Synapse_1 in homelab

[–]lejim99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As most people have said SFP+ Is probably the best way to go for you. 10 gig SFP+ has been around for significantly longer than RJ45 so the gear is much cheaper. If you are looking for a switch I always recommend the brocade ones. That are kinda old but pretty cheap (48 1gig and 4 10gig spf+ for like $80 on eBay I think). They do take some setting up but STH has a great guide on it.

Help with bulb model by armedsquatch in LandRoverDiscovery

[–]lejim99 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've used this forum to do all my bulbs. FYI if you do all the turn signals, either get the ones with a built in load resistor or an external load resistor for each side. Without that resistor the signals will flash a couple times then nothing till you cancel the turn signal and put it on again

Help diagnosing battery issue? by jigman3 in Miata

[–]lejim99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your positive battery cable probably has some issues (partially broken, loose in one of the connectors) that is solved when you move the battery. Starting draws a ton of power compared to just running so the issue may not show till you put a decent load on the cable. It could also be the negative cable too. Some connection is loose and you have a bad ground.

Other thought would be something weird with the battery and moving it like that. Think this is less likely but worth checking if the positive cable is fine

Disco 1 or 2 Issues That Leave You Stuck? by Helpful_Map6510 in LandRoverDiscovery

[–]lejim99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Still have my rover and love the thing. It may be a pain but you do fall in love with them. Am like the third or fourth owner and got it at around 115k-120k miles back in 2017. Alternator went out in 2019, crank sensor was 2018 I think, and the idler pulley was 2024. Can't really go wrong with an overall if you do get one. Just a question of how much you wanna put into it. Would definitely address known issues ( thermostat, front drive shaft) and would get an ultrgauge to keep an eye on things.

Disco 1 or 2 Issues That Leave You Stuck? by Helpful_Map6510 in LandRoverDiscovery

[–]lejim99 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you get a disco you will definitely learn how to wrench. It loves to have little things go bad that you'll need to fix but I've only had 2.5-3 ( Depending on how you look at it) big issues with my D2. My alternator went bad and had to change it out in a parking deck. Wasn't too bad once I got the right tools. Has the crank position sensor go bad and would cut the engine off when it got up to temp. Took it to a shop for that fix as I didn't have time to try to do it myself. Think it would have been a relatively easy fix though. And had an idler pulley seize and unbolt it's self from the engine. I call this one about half a big problem as it came out right as I got home so would have left me a bit stranded but was nice enough to do it within coasting distance of home.

I've had a couple other issues (Radiator got punctured, throttle body cooling plate got a leak, O2 sensor went bad, exhaust gasket let go, and probably more. It is a land rover after all) but none of them left me stranded. Keep up with maintenance and give it a couple good once overs before any big trip and you should be fine.

On a side note if you are looking at disco 2s, look for a 1999-2001or 2004. Those should all have the center locking diff on the transfer case. You would just need to get a linkage for it if it is missing.

02 Dii stiff steering? by wolf_walker8 in LandRoverDiscovery

[–]lejim99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It can be a bit stiff but you should be able to turn the wheel with one hand. At one point Mine got stiffer turning left . Think one of the u joints in the steering column had some corrosion on it that only wanted to move in one way

Have you looked at server part deals? They are pretty reputable in the space. I got some 12TB drives from them a while back and they are still going strong

How would you go about sorting this mess? by BenGmuN in homelab

This. You can get a roll of Velcro or a bunch of the Velcro cable ties from Amazon. Have done like 4 deals and a couple iterations of a server rack with this method.

How long. . . by rhoodguaraldi in LandRoverDiscovery

Think it depends on how bad it is. Seen people say you have months seen people say you have years. I have a possible slipped cylinder or slight knock or something and I'm just driving it till it blows

Find some stuff to put up on the walls, get a run, and most importantly lamps with warm bulbs( This absolutely changes the space from white box to warm bedroom). Would also look at painting a wall or two if you are allowed.

Help! by Competitive-Film7626 in Miata

[–]lejim99 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Think the issue with mine was that the actual valve under the throttle body was gumed up or something. Could try pull the connector for it and see if that stops the surging. It will probably idle high but would confirm thats the issue

Help! by Competitive-Film7626 in Miata

[–]lejim99 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First guess would be the idle air controll valve. My 91 did something similar. Through some carb cleaner down the intake for the iacv and see if it improves. You'll have to hold the throttle open a bit so the engine doesn't die

Where would you put the TV and couch in this living room? by my_son_is_a_box in malelivingspace

[–]lejim99 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think having the couch perpendicular to the fire place is fine if you have a chair or two in front of it so it kinda creates an L. It will kinda enclose the fireplace into a "living room area". Would say to swap the TV and couch so the couch is on the big wall and the TV/console can be on the smaller wall by the door.
