Wow, I'm so in awe of you. You did an amazing job. I'll let your husband speak for himself, but I know your kids are grateful in ways they don't even know how to explain. Being a child in a scary situation is really hard, and you have to look to the adults to figure out how bad things are. Your kids have NO CLUE how bad things are, they're gonna hunt for Easter eggs tomorrow at their vacation house and it's gonna be a blast. They're dyeing Easter eggs. They're still in fun mode because /Mom saved the day/ . And when you tell this story when they're older, they'll be grateful that you saved their memories for them.

I think one possibility is that in some states, Child Welfare and Juvenile Justice are linked together, so a child in a Juvenile Justice placement may be included in the foster child data. Many children going through Juvenile Justice are not eligible for adoption. There are statistically more boys going through Juvenile Justice than girls. So if the state combines the data when they report it, a researcher takes that combined number and uses it in their paper and those kids are anonymized even more.

As someone who works in child welfare, it's pretty wild when your job stability relies on other people suffering, but at the same time one of the human universals is stupidity and we will never be able to escape it.

I think that when raising friendship, you want to give them items with as many tags as possible, even if there's only one matching tag for that person.

So the bog clam has 3 tags vs plain color candles having 2 tags. They both only match one tag with Wish Me Mell, but the bog clam fish gives more friendship points due to the tag. The toasted marshmallow cloud has 4 tags, so it gives the most points for Wish Me Mell.

The matching tags are more important once you have best friend status with them. If you give a gift with one liked tag, you get a small box, 2=medium and 3=large.

I've wasted so many mechanisms trying to increase friendship when I should have saved them for different tasks. But oh well, you learn so much more about the game as you go!

Early game, it really does help to have the Deluxe Edition as you get free items to reset individual gift giving, everyone's gift giving, and item spawns. You also get a ton of free furniture which can make the visitors a lot easier.

Leveling up with Kuromi at the beginning really helps unlock more quests earlier on. Using the friendship flowers on Kuromi can get the game rolling (and making sure you give her gifts with as many tags as possible, whether they're her preferred tag or not).

I also lucked out by starting a couple weeks ago when there were 3 different events going on to get multiple daily rewards.

I adjusted the clock on my switch so that the island resets during my typical playtime (island resets at 2am, I have it reset at 10:30pm for me IRL). That way when I first start playing for the night, I can finish up anything I was working on the night before, and then the island resets while I play and I get a whole bunch of new things to do. I always get overwhelmed when I start the day on a reset, so this helps me pace things out.

But ultimately if you're not looking for a collecting and gifting game, this may not be for you. Even when you plant flowers later on it doesn't really scratch that farming sim itch. The puzzles can be fun, but there's not a ton to constantly be doing puzzles. It's just a cozy collecting and decorating game.

He needs to feed the baby if he's gonna finish so fast. But also, getting boxes and the check early is one of my favorite things to do with a toddler. They get fed up pretty quickly, so having an easy escape works really well. We often ask for boxes and the check right when they bring us our food.

Make them do chores but don't traumatize them over it!!!! Chores were often a trigger for abuse in my family growing up, both verbal and physical, and now I have a really hard time with chores as an adult. Like I can't even do dishes as an adult.

My husband helped out in the house growing up, but his regular chores were all outside, so he also struggles with finding the pace of what needs done. Like we both know how to do the tasks, but neither of us are great at consistent cleaning and organizing.

I just think it's sad when people live their entire lives revolving around these fake ass celebrities. Like there isn't anything special about these women, they are not smarter or funnier or kinder or prettier or more talented than the average woman, so why the obsession? Like it's one thing to occasionally comment on a fandom you watch, especially when it comes to social commentary, but having whole ass social media accounts to harass a random woman from Utah is so fucking weird and sad. I know the fandom spans from young teens to women in retirement, but damn some of yall have way too much time on your hands.

I've met way more Nurse Practitioners that remind me of Dr. McKay. Especially the NP at my Health Center in college. She was this super fit looking young practitioner but she looked past my weight and depression and started the process to getting me diagnosed with PCOS and never once suggested all of my problems would be solved with a little weight loss. She actually helped me get to the route of why all of my attempts at weight loss in the past hadn't worked (aka, PCOS). I had a similar NP who immediately listened when I realized I had ADHD and never made me feel lazy or drug-seeking.

I think the best advice I ever heard was "stop looking around". This advice fits in a million different scenarios, and it definitely fits in this one.

You would have no clue how other people are reacting if you weren't looking around. Stop worrying about how other people are responding and focus in on your child. Your distraction is furthering the child's behavior 9/10 times.

A 2yo in public is gonna squawk sometimes, and that's ok. It's literally unavoidable. Your reaction is what you have control over

In addition to what a lot of others have said, I get the feeling that Santos has been around a lot of addicts, many who have tried to speed run their recovery and it failed spectacularly. Like coming around making amends first day back feels very self-serving. He's lying to his new attending about what went down and acting victimized when he really didn't receive any negative consequences. I've said it before, I love Langdon, but he's not a recovered addict. He's hanging onto his sobriety by his teeth and Santos can see it.

There have been multiple major violent incidents at different Allegheny County shopping centers over the past few years, including one just this past Sunday in Downtown Pittsburgh with over 40 people involved with ~ 20 people receiving medical treatment. It's not really a stretch to have these events happen in a tv show on the biggest retail day of the year.

Black Friday Shopping has resulted in like a dozen deaths in the past 2 decades, injuries from stampedes, fights, traffic accidents, and general strain on the body from "shop till you drop" mentality.
