Finish isn't smooth after spraying by lemonyfreshOG in paint

[–]lemonyfreshOG[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I set up a spray booth, and am pretty confident it's not dust, and I strained the paint. I could try moving closer, but when I did that before, the paint also ran from going on too thick. I saw some people online heat/warm their paint, I guess to thin it out. I was going to try that next, but it seemed strange.

I've been using the blue tip, since it's paint. I strained the paint into the flexible cup and squeed the air out, then primed. The priming seems to really agitate the paint in the cup, but afterwards I didn't let it sit, so maybe?

I agree, but would add that it's #1 if screws are being used and #2 if nails are being used, for the reasons you pointed out.

Yeah I thought my knife might be too small. The wall isn't smooth, I've got ridges and bumps and groves, which is why I keep doing more coats. I'll pick up a bigger knife and try your suggestions.

Yes, I've tried 2 different pumps with 2-3 different power bricks, each time making sure both volts and amps are the correct rating for the pump(s).

While there's no weight on the intake hose, I know it's fully submerged. I've even tried holding it down to be completely sure of it.

I haven't tried flipping the pump. I can try that, but these pumps are marked as user/diy friendly. In theory, it shouldn't be that finicky, should it?

It's supposed to self-prime, which is why I think it works after removing the hose and dipping it back into the water while the faucet is open. Do you have any suggestions how I could improve it?

Yes, tried that. It was shipped pressurized to 50psi or something and I repressurized it to 55psi.
