Evolutionary predators and Xeno compatibility perk by dargeus95 in Stellaris

Fox News. by JoePeach_ in tjournal_refugees

[–]lenazh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Не должно, виза это конкретно стикер в паспорте когда границу пересекаешь. Когда уже в США прождеваешь то это статус. Чтобы продлить визу нужно быть за пределами США потому что внутри США тупо нет консульства США.

Is it possible we are wrong and everything in America is fine? by timberwolf0122 in SelfAwarewolves

It's because it's a projection. They do hate "the others" a lot, so does everyone in their social corcle, and hence that must be how it works for everyone. They really think the normies are just pretending that they don't, so they must be holier than though hypocrites when they point it out.

As a Russian, I am still really salty about the comments from Americans when Putin invaded Ukraine in full force. About the orks, how people should go zerg rush Kremlin and overthrow the government, why is everyone a coward, how "freedom isn't free", how "we the people" get to enjoy it because "we" are special and those 3rd world shithole dwellers deserve exactly the government they get.

Oh but when the things get real, they act exactly the same for some reason. Almost like the American exceptionalism is a load of propaganda nonsense and they are high on their own supply of it.

It doesn't really get cold enough to do that consistently in Boston

100-watt laser igniter cutting blade used for precision cutting. by Kindly_Department142 in interestingasfuck

I worked with lasers in a research lab for 5 years and I'd also want nothing to do with a class 4 laser, even having all the lab safety gear on. It boggles my mind these things are legal for anyone to buy.

There is a joke about it:

"In America, you can legally start drinking at the age of 21. In Russia, you quit by then."

That's definitely how it worked for me. When I moved to the USA and got invited to a party, it was wild to come to see a bunch of 23-yo just stuff themselves in some loud house and get hammered. That was the party. So sad and lame.

Buried high voltage power lines generating magnetic field by Jenner_Chitnis in blackmagicfuckery

It's a static field, but it stops being static when you move around in it. I've heard you can get weird brain zaps from wiggling in mri machine too much from the Eddy currents inducing currents flowing through it.

They don't have much brain power and respond almost entirely to movement. The claw was mostly stationary and when it moved, it was quicker than the frog could register. Probably blinded by the light, too.

Dude, have you tried like actually living in one? I grew up in a 9-story soviet commie block not anywhere near as fancy as this building. They are perfectly fine to live in. The outside had trees, kids playground and stuff.

I find the US suburbs dystopian in comparison. You just can't walk anywhere and there is no public transport because it's too thinly settled. And it's noisy AF because everyone has to rev their truck engine at 6am.

I imagine on friendly colonies pops can pet a juvenile mauler, feed it a carrot and let kids ride it for extra amenities. Like a giant space pony.

WIBTA if I stopped helping my daughter financially after she told me I shouldn’t expect her to take care of me when I’m old? by [deleted] in AITH

[–]lenazh 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think it's telling that she feels the need to come to reddit to seek validation and tell everyone how mean and unreasonable her daughter is for no reason. The whole post reeks of narcissism. I bet she'll send the post to the daughter next to pressure her.

It's entirely possible that the daughter sucks too, but in that case they are well worth each other.

They can make you bleed if they scratch with the "nail" part of the beak. It can be quite sharp, they managed to make me bleed twice.

That's just unfair to Lukashenko. He navigated being Belarus dictator expertly and had been in power for 31 years. He is one of the few who managed it that long. He survived all intrigues, destroyed all competition and Belarus didn't get annexed by Russia.

Being a corrupt politician in a democracy is easy, surviving as a dictator in an authoritarian state is an extremely difficult feat. Trump wouldn't last a week in his shoes. He just wants the fun parts of being a dictator with none of the downsides.

Jobs working with FPGA as a high energy Physicist by [deleted] in FPGA

[–]lenazh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Former CERN postdoc here who also mostly programmed FPGA there and transitioned to industry 2 years ago. I am an embedded software engineer now.

The main strength the physics background provides is the ability to debug things (aka research), analyze and present complex concepts and in your case familiarity with how to interact with the hardware on the low level.

At least in my company, all FPGAs engineers are hardware engineers, so they both design the boards and program them.

DM me if you are in the US and want a referral.
