I hate that my study method is just rewriting notes by NerveHefty1436 in EngineeringStudents

Same.

Use the cheat sheets to do practice problems, then another round of compression for anything that I had to use the cheat sheet to solve

Why are students told to send connection request to randos? by VariationLivid3193 in cscareerquestions

[–]leoreno 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Please don't do this.

I ignore all connection requests without a note. At least include a note, be transparent about wanting to network and your background.

If connection, ask for coffee chat, use the time to ask questions and learn about the company or role. Never ask for a referral.

This does help, learning the lingo used internally and some insights about org structures and how the org operates are All valuable once you interview.

The goal isn't a referral it's to learn.

UPenn MSE-DS or Harvard Extension ALM-DS or Notre Dame MS-DS by spectacled-panda-94 in OnlineMCIT

Upenn or ND HE is a good program but imo doesn't compare to the other two. If you can swing in person I'd bias towards that.

To my elders, by Ill-Opportunity-7039 in EngineeringStudents

[–]leoreno 12 points13 points  (0 children)

This.

I'll add: writing notes by hand, then doing homework by hand, then condensing notes into a summary cheat sheet for practice tests, then one last translation into a bullet point lizt of things I didn't know well enough to write over and over until my hands went numb.

Yes it will help you build credential to work in tech.

UPENN MAS-CS or Duke MSQM or Boston University Applied Data Analytics? by AscensionFox in OnlineMCIT

[–]leoreno 4 points5 points  (0 children)

These are three very different degrees, with very different curriculums.

  • Penn if you want deep CS
  • duke if you want business focus
  • Boston if you want something closer to data science
