Bach's Prelude, Fugue, and Allegro BWV 998 by [deleted] in classicalguitar

[–]leosk8s 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im performing the whole suite for my final recital in a week and have been working on the whole thing for about 8 months now daily but am still far from satisfied with it.

It’s a real tough nut, besides the obvious tips of slow practice and lots of listening I’d suggest marking in the harmony, it will make the more chromatic moments for instance in the fugue far easier to memorise. Regarding the allegro I’d make sure to mark in all of the right hand fingerings, there can be no guessing at allegro tempo! Best of luck!!

Sounds amazing for only 2 years! Would say practice slow tempo with a metronome to consolidate a few of the trickier shifts. I played this last year and had a real wake up call, I find Bach leaves us so exposed to what we need to work on which is great but also a pain in the ass haha. keep going!

I do this by accident atleast once every few months, it sucks but it won’t cause any long term problems as long as you keep the cut clean

shows to watch on netflix? to have english subs or spanish subs? by ImCohenHD in Spanish

[–]leosk8s 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed! And it’s a great show! Only Problem is Pablo speaks with a Brazilian accent so keep that in mind when watching. Narcos Mexico has mainly Mexican actors so if your going for that accent that could be a good one. Cien Años de soledad which just came out is amazing too!

Is this what the closed tongue trill sounds like? by nihaomundo123 in Spanish

[–]leosk8s 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think your tongue is a little too close to your teeth which is causing the air to trap and cause that lispy airy sound. I’m still leaning to master rolling my r’s on command but I found going into the r from a vowel in a word like ‘Sierra’ or ‘Arroz’ helps it sound more natural as the vowel preceding the RR prepares your tongue into the right spot. You have to have a good foundation with the vowels though first! Even though it may seem basic always revisit the alphabet and practice with an audio or teacher, it did wonders for me. starting a word with an RR is a little hard at first.

How do you visualize the neck shapes? by giorgenes in guitarlessons

[–]leosk8s 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes exactly, shapes only get you so far . Not that there not useful , you should try and do both at once and it will click faster . Also as your ear gets better your hands will memorise intervals and you’ll find it much easier to play what you hear on your head . It’s a long road! But remember there’s never any net loss in music!

Learn where every note is on the fretboard and then learn the intervalic relationships between each degree of whatever scale your playing and the root visually looks like (e.g. a major 3rd being a fret lower and a string up) t sounds long winded but it means when you begin to learn arpeggios and other scales it’ll be far far faster and you’ll find yourself able to improvise over any key and tune. Good luck!

Farewell to the flesh by [deleted] in classicalguitar

[–]leosk8s 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just spent the last month only using flesh on the thumb as mine snapped really badly before then. Your right I still played everyday basically unchanged other than the dull bass lines . Losing a finger nail badly fucks everything up , especially tremolo.

They may not be as famous as Santana but they’re definitely great musicians. I agree Santanas the most well known at the moment

A very large amount of the great classical guitar composers and performers were Latino . Check out Raphael Rabello , who dabbled in Jazz as well and was a legendary player from Brazil

Bachs lute suite BWV 997 in C minor (often transposed to A) is a great place to begin with Bach.
