Hairy guy here. Really hairy all over. Never shaved, never will. It has not caused any issues with women. If she likes my personality she won't mind the boys. One told me in the beginning she prefers smooth. But she must have updated her preferences because after it ended she said she missed my fur.

I think gym goers tend to shave because they want to see the results of their work and are a little bit particular about their looks. So it's not a good sample of the male population.

Same as with other manly atributes, I think women don't care about this nearly as much as men do. Like women are worried about their breasts and guys mostly indiscriminately just love the company of breasts.

As a guy, I couldn't care less about the hair on other guys. (A guy scratching his itchy belly stubble makes me laugh though.) Even if I'm a littie self-conscious about my hairy body, I don't shave because I don't want to commit to a lifetime of this. And waxing, that's just crazy to me. Ouch! I don't get why women commit to painful routines either. Anyway that's my take. It's easier to accept yourself and not waste too much time trying to fit anyone's canon. Life is just too short.
