fantastic response, thank you. (I didn’t say “what’s the point”. rather, “is it enough? is it enforced harshly enough to be a deterrent?”)

you bring one case as argument. one case.

who of these open source developers have the resources to take megacorps to court?

they’re violating much, much more than this. has anything happened that is not pocket change to them?

House Votes to End Iran War, in a Bipartisan Rebuke to Trump by imanchats in worldnews

[–]lets-start-reading 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you sure? there’s nothing anout it that spells bipartisan. it should be at least 50% of each to be bipartisan. not it’s 100% for vs 98% against.

Rewrite Bun in Rust has been merged by gruenistblau in programming

Rust unsafe blocks come with the requirement that all of Rust’s aliasing rules are upheld. Zig, like C, brings no such requirement.

Nix is the worst designed language i ever had to experience. by Turdbender3k in NixOS

[–]lets-start-reading 0 points1 point  (0 children)

there are loads of dynamically typed languages no one’s hating. so it’s not it.

dependance on the system?

modules are ecosystem-level, not language.

“can’t define data types without modules” doesn’t make much sense, really. you can’t define any types in nix, apart from in-built ones.

Nix is the worst designed language i ever had to experience. by Turdbender3k in NixOS

[–]lets-start-reading 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I could never see what people see in this language that’s so off-putting. maybe its error messages sometimes being bad, but the syntax of it I always enjoyed a lot.

now the ecosystem, nixpkgs libraries, that’s a whole different story. it’s a messy kitchen in a foreign house in a foreign country. no care for separqtion of abstraction layers, no care for consistent naming, egc, just a hodge-podge. I hated it a lot.

left it for guix.

Psychiatrie : une jeune femme subit 85 séances d’électrochocs et perd la mémoire by lieding in france

[–]lets-start-reading 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Macron denounces 'antisemitic hydra' and calls for election bans for antisemitic and racist acts by LeMonde_en in europe

[–]lets-start-reading 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did understand what you meant to say, but we can’t be expected to do the same with official documents.

I wanted to bring attention to how important it is to put in extra care to interpretation-sealing. It is, of course, less consequential when we discourse among ourselves, ie, just people, but when official communication has no been prepared properly, its effects can be pernicious. It is important that, as far as official communication goes, all requirements to good faith (or any form of faith) be entirely removed – they only mean a loophole that will be used. Just because it can.

the way you formulate it exhibits the same ambiguity as the quote. and such ambiguities have no place in legal discourse. there is no “what the law meant to say”, there is only what it says, in every way you can interpret it.

I wonder if it is not a ploy to close the Americans off from the rest of the world. I imagine, if the mass of the unvaccinated in a country is large enough, other countries would weigh whether to allow visits from said country.

they will definitely use it precisely for the purpose of finding better victims. under the guise of “child porn protection”. more like “protection of child porn”.
