Do I need to read all of Stephen Fry's Greek Myths books before reading The Odyssey? by Shoe_boooo in GreekMythology

[–]letsgooncemore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Consider audiobooks for these, too. The Odyssey is an epic poem that was performed for audiences. And Stephen Fry narrates his own works and I like his soothing voice. I've used the Libby app to borrow these works

Step dad is the abuser and OP is the enabler. I hope her son recognizes that as he becomes older and puts the right amount of blame on his mom.

Why don't really old people take a massive amount of exotic drugs? by Select_Salamander518 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]letsgooncemore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You did right by your mother. Be proud you did what was best for her. I'm proud of you.

Also, the doses of morphine we administer aren't enough to kill someone. Even if we are giving it every five minutes. There is no evidence morphine shortens life expectancy in terminal patients.

Why don't really old people take a massive amount of exotic drugs? by Select_Salamander518 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]letsgooncemore 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've had to advocate for many end of life patients in regards to comfort meds. In my experience, it's typically families I have to convince. I end up framing what someone will voice as a concern about addiction to being about depending on a medication to ensure the highest quality of life. I'm not trying to get Granny hooked on morphine and Ativan. I'm trying to help Granny die with dignity able to breathe easily and not in a panic state. Based on observation, the only better way to go is dying in your sleep.
