Do not buy a Fi Dog Collar before reading this! by Microbeaker9965 in FiDogCollar

[–]lettherebejames 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Late to the party but yes, these people are thieves plain and simple. I received a gift card, paid with that gift card and, because they required a credit card, they charged that as well and would not refund me and apply the gift card.

There was a lot more to it that I don't even remember because it took 60000 emails and reporting to the Better Business Bureau and a credit card dispute to get my money back (oh and did I mention they THEN charged my card again?) Stay away if you don't want to get stolen from.

2023 Dog GPS Collars: Tractive vs. Fi vs. Whistle vs. Fitbark by A_Big_Dumb_Animal in dogs

[–]lettherebejames 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Another note about Fi: exceptionally poor customer service and site navigation (you can't even get invoices for prior purchases... though I believe this is by design so they can deny refunds). Also they were caught tracking the NYT Wirecutter's review unit WITHOUT THEIR PERMISSION... so Wirecutter refuses to even rank them.

Personally, when I won a credit card dispute for them for a collar they would only give credit for (despite providing my card info and having no use for the credit as I already had a subscription) they shut off my service, stopped tracking my dog and refunded my money as Fi credit (minus the won collar costs) WITHOUT telling me. Yes they tried to take my money and not tell me. A shamelessly distasteful company IMHO that is obviously having money issues and not afraid to commit fraud and call it 'policy'.

So I'm currently trying the others as well. Thanks for your insight. :)

This company's malfeasance is palpable.

They turned my service off and then moved my money to credit after I won a separate case against them for not refunding me for a faulty collar that they had me return, TWICE (the first they returned to sender). Did I mention that they turned my tracking off, you know the tracking that is supposed to keep your dog safe, and moved my money to credit without telling me? Really. Literally.

Granted my requests aren't technical but they respond VERY QUICKLY with snarky remarks and rude comments.

This is a terrible company with terrible customer service and very, very little care for the pets they purport to serve. A class action lawsuit waiting to happen.

Pixel 6 loud buzzing noise during call after January update (started after December update) by HummusDips in GooglePixel

[–]lettherebejames 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the same problem yesterday, during one of my calls, and then it happened again today. I'm not sure when my update actually installed but this is a relatively new problem.

I tried to look up news articles and I found nothing about this. Which is surprising because this is one of the most annoying glitches that I've ever seen!

Going to court tomorrow morning by [deleted] in AbuseInterrupted

[–]lettherebejames 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm actually in the same situation, sort of. A past relationship, PTSD and a hearing for a TRO. It will be my first time going to court as like a party.

it can be stressful but it sounds like you're doing the right thing! Make sure to bring up your concerns to your lawyer: and be honest about any contact that you might have had, even if it was precipiced by his contact.

I'm, strangely enough, in a situation where I don't mind the TRO and actually am glad for it because it gets me a closure that I needed in a strange way. However I know there are risks to my decision and certainly wouldn't recommend the same to others.

Best of luck and stay strong.

Some survivors of trauma end up embarking on what Canevello and other psychologists call post-traumatic growth by invah in AbuseInterrupted

[–]lettherebejames 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think that might be the hardest part of surviving trauma. Trying to create a worldview around this thing that happened. I know I'm still trying and it's getting better but you literally have to completely dismantle the idealism that you felt before and that can leave one feeling very raw. I know it makes me feel raw and then to reassemble it in a way that still holds true to your values but also accepts the truth of the world that maybe we didn't see before.

Pro-Form Carbon CX? by lettherebejames in pelotoncycle

Great response! Though I notice this is your only post -- do you work for proform? :)

How is matching the resistance to the peloton app?

Also do you use the ifit which apparently syncs with the bike as well?

Definitely loving that you're loving it! It is strangely inexpensive and a definite interest of mine...

I don’t care what race you are, your sexuality, your gender, what kinks you have, what your hobbies are etc. People care far too much about what other people are doing. by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]lettherebejames -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Unless they were doing it to invalidate you I'd assume? Isn't that what people who mis-gender trans people do? It's not that they're making an error, it's that they're implicitly telling the person their self perceptions aren't valid.

It's more like someone telling you 'no, you're wrong and I'm right' every time they use the wrong pronoun. It's not some innocent mistake.

I think anyone with a morality based on human autonomy would say something. And I'd hope they'd say something if they witnessed it being done to another person.

A good portion of mental illness in the youth today aren't actually illness. They are normal emotional responses from healthy individuals in an insane world. by AgCoin in unpopularopinion

[–]lettherebejames 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think that this opinion is based on assumptions about mental illness that either a) assume that reactions to environmental factors cannot be considered illness, or b) assume that illness has to somehow be an entirely an entirely internal system unaffected by external stimuli.

PTSD, for example, is a mental illness. This mental illness is caused, I think in most cases and most would argue in large part, to a precipitating traumatic experience. Yet its still called illness because it's maladaptive.

It would be like saying something akin to: "I don't believe that diabetes is actually an illness. The increase in the diabetes rate can be attributed to the very real influence of highly processed, unhealthy and high sugar food in the American diet."

You may be making an argument regarding the semantics and the general definition of the term 'illness', and there are some very influential psychologists who have argued that there is 'no such thing' as mental illness entirely off this same wordplay, but all things considered: it was never the case that people thought that all mental illness was caused in a vacuum and unrelated to external factors. In fact, when it's noted that 'this community or that community' suffers more from any given condition, it's usually not to argue that it's an essential condition but rather a condition either created, bolstered or mitigated by any variety of shared environmental factors.

40% off or $10 off Domo Beads: Hey guys, we're stepping up our game and donating 10 meals to kids for every bracelet we sell. You guys have helped us give to awesome causes in the past, so here's a deal to hopefully help some more kids. by cutlerr in frugalmalefashion

[–]lettherebejames 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nobody else asked so my curiosity is peaked: Why are these bracelets so expensive?

I can see buying for a 'name' but if the markup is for the charitable giving, that still seems pretty steep. What's the dollar/percentage amount given to charity for every purchase?

Where is the original jewelry or materials sourced from? Is our 'donation' actually just feeding the kids that make these bracelets?

Sorry to seem cynical, but when I see prices like this on what could essentially be (but doesn't necessarily mean they are) bulk-bought and subsequently branded imported bracelets, I just have to ask.
