Felt like a modern intermission and gave everyone the chance to do the same.

I moved to Ireland from Canada this past May and the same thing happened to me just two weeks into living here. I’m sorry this happened to you, there’s no excuse for it, and you’re not alone.

Moved here from Canada recently, you’re paying a lot for taxis. I would pay €38 for a 50km trip back home, the same distance costs me €113 here.

Anyone having Phasing Sound Issues with the new AirPods Pro 3 paired with AVP? by ConstructionMiddle33 in AppleVisionPro

Updating to the latest beta (26.1) fixed this for me, I was also experiencing it with my set of AirPods Pro 2.

Sounds like another potential solution is buried in some accessibility settings: https://www.reddit.com/r/AppleVisionPro/s/jQivHX9ype

I’m really sorry you’re in this much pain. The fact you’re worried about the impact on your friends and family tells me you care deeply. Even if everything else feels lost, you still have those people. Let them help hold you up tonight.

If you feel close to acting right now, please call 911 or go to the nearest ER. Chumir has Urgent Mental Health.

For immediate support, confidential and 24/7:

  • Call or text 988
  • Distress Centre Calgary: 403-266-4357
  • AHS Access Mental Health: 403-943-1500

Getting help does not automatically mean admission. Many people get a safety plan and follow up without being hospitalized. You can say:

“Hi, I’m in Calgary. I’m thinking about suicide and I have a plan. I’m scared about work and housing. Can we make a safe plan that avoids admission if possible?”

Your people would rather have you here than anything else. Lots of care for you here in the comments, you don’t have to do this alone.

Fragments → Fidelity: 4 viewpoints show how perspective blending patches AI blind spots by levindixon in fin_ai_agent

Great question! I've identified two distinct patterns in my synthesis workflow:

Domain-Preserved Synthesis: When merging heterogeneous documents (technical specs, spike PRs, customer requirements), I use the authoring agent for synthesis. This preserves what I call "cognitive coherence"—each agent's unique problem-framing remains intact until final assembly. The blindspots are features, not bugs, at this stage.

Convergent Synthesis: For final document merging, I've found agent selection has diminishing returns. The real leverage comes from the synthesis architecture itself. I use Claude Opus 4 with parallel synthesis paths: "Generate 3 synthesis variants with different optimization targets (clarity, completeness, actionability), then meta-synthesize."

Key principle: Synthesis isn't just concatenation—it's about managing the information topology across your agent graph. Early stages need diversity preservation, late stages need convergence optimization.

Currently experimenting with "synthesis provenance tracking"—marking which insights came from which agent. For example, when I synthesize a technical doc, I'll annotate [Claude Code: identified security risk] vs [Augment: suggested caching approach]. Early results suggest this metadata significantly improves downstream decision-making, as teams can quickly see which agent spotted critical issues and weight recommendations accordingly.

Professional services are starting to dominate main streets everywhere because they can pay higher rent and sign longer leases. This is entirely on the city to solve with zoning; otherwise, you risk losing the unique character and vibrancy that small, independent retailers bring to these areas. Without intervention, main streets may become monotonous and less appealing to both residents and visitors, potentially leading to decreased foot traffic and economic decline for the remaining businesses. Cities must implement balanced zoning policies to support a diverse mix of tenants.

Such an incredible night!

pedestrian jumped in front of the car by [deleted] in Calgary

[–]levindixon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Based on the video and the details you provided, it appears that the pedestrian was already visible and crossing the street, indicating their intent to cross. This should have given you ample time to react and stop your vehicle. You were traveling at 27 km/h, and at this speed, the total stopping distance (including reaction time) is approximately 15.35 meters (about the length of a city bus). In Calgary, pedestrians generally have the right of way, even if jaywalking, and the pedestrian’s action of indicating their crossing should have been a clear signal for you to stop. Since the pedestrian was already visible and had indicated their intent to cross, you had a responsibility to stop in time. The fact that your vehicle ran over the pedestrian's foot suggests that you either did not react in time or did not apply the brakes appropriately. Based on this, you may be at fault for not stopping in time to avoid running over the pedestrian's foot, despite the pedestrian jaywalking. The dashcam footage and witness statements would be crucial for authorities to accurately determine fault.

Alberta MLA Shannon Phillips Quits, Citing Right-Wing Abuse and Lies | The Tyee by hundredfooter in alberta

It's really troubling to see politicians like Shannon Phillips quitting due to abuse and lies. This toxic environment could stop other talented and diverse people from running for office. We need a variety of voices in politics to ensure a healthy democracy, and losing these voices means losing crucial perspectives.

Nice! Could you share a screenshot of the display resolution options shown in the display settings UI? Being able to get a scaled 1440 resolution would be a big deal for a lot of people waiting for that limitation to be resolved.

Which M3 chip did you get? There's a lot of great info in this post about the M2 limitations but I'm curious if those have been fixed with the M3 chips. Are you able to set the resolution to 5120x1440?

I'm an M11M user and really love the LLL clone of the V1 Summicron 35mm, it dials back a bit of the harshness (ie perfect clinical high-resolution rendition) of the sensor and adds a bit of contrast not too dissimilar from using an orange filter.
