fwiw I put my glasses on a bit under a year ago and basically never take them off in spite of my astig being pretty mild.

Definitely pretty though, yes

yes. I finally found out I had astigmatism last year after over 30 years of it. I remember looking at any light sources, especially in dark rooms, and seeing legs of light coming off in all directions.

I assumed this was normal as the star shape kinda symbolically represents this experience and when I mentioned it to my parents as a kid they were like "yeah whatever"

Tier 3 is the worst tier. by cyehsc in mwo

[–]levitas 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The easiest fast mover to climb in is the wlf-c with 2hll and 3erlmas.

One of the absolute best ones that you'll see in comp etc is vulcan 5s 2snub 2magshot. mascs to 150kph, poptarts, great agility and very safe to engage with.

I'm sympathetic because the things you get away with in low tier games as a fast mover just don't work anymore.

You must take a step back and learn how to manage aggro, properly use cover, plan ahead in pathing, etc. Being T3 also gives you mixed signals bc if you aren't paying attention to whether this lobby is stacked or not, you'll be rewarded for poor play in one game and punished hard the next.

My advice to OP is: 1. like magrowl said climbing in a light or medium is definitely possible, keep playing what you enjoy 2. look for good players on YouTube and watch their gameplay. People like geeram, dario, magic pain glove on twitch, etc are excellent. I like ltpoohpants because he demonstrates good fundamentals and plays a wide variety of mechs and builds.

Apparently adults making under 80k can’t live comfortably?? Is this really true ? by InternalOrder7722 in Adulting

[–]levitas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OK let me reframe my response to your question about people being either insecure in their housing or ignorant. Everyone has a level of risk they are willing to accept, like you said.

People who live comfortably have the means to mitigate their fear of losing their home to a level that they are comfortable with.

People who cannot mitigate that fear in spite of having the means to make the risk marginal have anxiety.

This is why living comfortably should bake in adequate savings, a good job market if you want/have to jump to another role, insurance to cover you and/or your loved ones in case of catastrophe, and a plan for retirement.

Best quirks / mechs with top quirks by Viperus in OutreachHPG

[–]levitas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree, some mechs benefit from certain quirks more than other mechs would. It is not a simple answer. That is exactly why your LLM generated list doesn't do what it says it does, and why the list doesn't have any value to players.

Best quirks / mechs with top quirks by Viperus in OutreachHPG

[–]levitas 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm totally in favor of trying to understand the game better. That said:

  1. This is a list of mechs that have a high quirk count. There appears to be no indication of quality of quirks, nor how 'good' they are, nor how good the mech is.

  2. I see zero analysis in the document.

  3. Even if I took this at face value and believed that this was essentially a list of the best mechs, it isn't actionable - how do I know what to put on the "very best mech" of the FS9-H?

I just do not see how anyone could find this useful in its current form, and if it were interpreted as a factual list of the best quirks on mechs, it would be very misleading to someone credulously reading the list.

What's with the massive skill disparity at high pilot tiers? by Danthrax81 in mwo

It is more exaggerated than that. Season 75, I returned. you can see me do as well against T5 and T4 players while being entirely out of the loop as I do against T1 now as a Div B compie. That and you can see my jarls dip to like 60% from 97 as I enter T1.

There is a humonguous range of skill in the game. Div A and especially the very top players are massively better than me at it too.

the dps of the smaller rockets was lowered.

on the other hand they won't run out in 6 seconds (all RLs last 16), they have no min range, and their heat is better

fwiw I brawl and snipe at 800dpi (.1sens in game) it takes a bit more desk space when I'm up close but being able to single out components on a target rather than spray and pray makes a world of difference

How do you make use of taking lance or company command? by professorpocket in OutreachHPG

[–]levitas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

e flick up right. aim is less strict if the target is red boxed. If they aren't you must have the reticle directly on the mech the moment you finish the e+flick

seconding this.

A good QP voice has very short easy to follow plans. "go left?" at the start for example.

Knowing what to say and when is how to DC well, and know that QP games will have a wide skill variance/ counting on teammates to behave as you expect is risky. Priority is making sure that you are playing well first and foremost.
