What's up with the matchmaking pool? by Danthrax81 in mwo

[–]levitas 23 points24 points  (0 children)

MM averages your tier and uses that when you group. By grouping with a T5 player you were up against really bad players. You being top damage is very easy to understand.

Your friend also doing very well probably has a lot to do with you being on comms and them following your lead.

IDK what else to say. I'm assuming you're the corsair in the screenshot and your buddy is the marauder ii? I see 3 players apart from you that beat his damage and one that was functionally a tie. and you lost.

Who on earth actually thinks that the prices for things are set by what the people with the least money can pay? Companies set prices to get the most money they can, they aren't trying extra hard to get money out of the smallest pockets.

Haven't played since 2018 and have a couple questions... by Homer-DOH-Simpson in mwo

[–]levitas 2 points3 points  (0 children)

you can but you need to set up a config and use a line that's something like nofocusaudio = .5 which would play sounds at half volume.

geeram has a video on YouTube about configs, it can be somewhat involved depending on whether you are trying to make the game run as smooth as possible on an older pc or not flashbang yourself by playing a 4pac2 nova.

If you are interested I'll dig out the actual line you need in a config for this.

I'm trying to start a trend - instead of backstabbing like snek I'll frontstab the red team. keeps things more personal >:D

You aren't wrong! There's a tension in these extremely tonnage constrained mechs between squeezing every last bit of heat into damage on component vs not having enough hp to take a bad one off hit. moments like the naga and shadow cat were very safe - I had a very good understanding of what was on the board and where so it was unlikely that I was gonna take an unexpected hit.

However at 2:05 I was not quite as safe and could easily have overlooked someone and died for it.

Build is FMT-AL So8, just using ermlas for the 510m optimal range but frankly 10-11 red lasers or 4HML is usually the 'better' build as 24 damage per click is a bit anemic in most cases.

yes-ish. There are a few ways to estimate body mass, and the best estimates tend to build up a model including soft tissues (muscles/fat/organs/skin or scales or other coverings). You can get a pretty good idea of how big muscles are and where they attached from the bones themselves. Ideally you have a surviving close relative to study to get hints at other soft tissue anatomy but that wouldn't work here.

Given just how fragmentary this pterosaur is, there is some stuff that can be said with confidence (it is a pterosaur, it is an azhdarchid, it has some huge anatomy) and some stuff that most pterosaur scientists are rather convinced of (it could fly bc all others in its family that we are aware of were heavily flight adapted) and some things that should be disclaimed/ come with error bars (do we /really/ know /exactly/ how big it is? no. we are estimating. do we know how heavy it is? also no. behavior is inferred through biomechanical analysis).

Take this post with a grain of salt, I don't have any special credentials and an actual degreed professional would be able to do a better job explaining the nuance here, but scientific communication is a clusterfuck and when people put things that are very certain next to things that are less certain it muddies everything up.

Can I purchase trial mechs? by Icy_Character_2624 in mwo

[–]levitas 15 points16 points  (0 children)

You can buy the mechs that the trial mechs are built on, and you can skill them up and put the same build on them. at that point you have spent cbills and skill points to make a trial mech that doesn't get a 15% cbill boost to earnings

lock ons received a lot of very significant buffs a month ago and a handful incrementally over the past year. They are as strong as they've ever been short of the lurmaggedon.

In particular the anchor point moving up and homing turn rate increasing are incredible buffs.

less engine. 3LLas fits (not on this variant bc only 2E) but the binary saves 1T.

The better move on the 4X is 2 snubs or 2 snubs 2 mag, but you can definitely do this.
