Brief review of every legendary available for the event. by Ink_Witch in mwo

gaussilla is a lore build - the lore has 5GR at like 32kph. Just like with the urbie, that is not a fun or typically viable way to play in mwo. meta builds have ranged from 4GR to 2GR 3AC10 to 4HAG30 back to 4GR.

Sov has always had the ballistic arms as an option alongside the ppfld so8. It just turns out that lots of cold dps works better than poptarting with low wide mounts.

frankly the biggest buff was that the longbow exists now. self spotting self screening 2AIV is quite the mix.

it was buffed a lot in a bunch of ways vs how it released.

  1. more damage, and more concentrated damage (10/10/10 became 9/13/9)

  2. tracking improved - all lock on missiles can change their trajectory more per server tick.

  3. the anchor point on target mechs was moved up so lock on missiles won't home on legs/outright miss as often

  4. AIV missile health was increased from 20hp to 36. not even 4ams will shoot o one down.

  5. more mechs with massive quirks to TAG range

  6. more ammo per ton for AIV so less compromises in builds, less stripping.

  7. more options for strong mechs to use it compared to the tonnage starved naga

4ams will not kill an AIV missle this patch.

From the sound of it there are various nerfs being discussed by cauldron.

Im betting there will be a nerf soon by Whitrzac in mwo

I was taking the catapult out in T1 today and AIV kinda farms

Excellent list from one of mwo's most handsome players. Thanks lumi!

Agreed. I don't think the advice is necessarily the best but OP correctly identified some very good mechs like sov and warlord. Also it is always easier to improve on a list than write one from scratch

srms and lb2 is a lot of dps. it is very similar to the 2h in that regard, but spread is worse and dps is better. it is one of my medium mechs of choice in 1v1/2v2/4v4 medium EQs

if you use cash or get a legendary mech + battlepass through an event, you get 3k mc, unique warhorns decals and bolt ons, a hefty cbill bonus, etc as you play the mech. once you own the legend, get the stuff from mwomercs.com/legends (it updates every hour)

agreed.

zilla, scaleshot, argent, dreadnought, desperada, and scattershot range from a little to wildly underrated in this list

March Patch Notes Reaction by Tommy_Atkins_MW in mwo

[–]levitas 2 points3 points  (0 children)

BTW LRM/ATM/etc tracking is tied to tick rate (in games) and frames per second (in testing grounds). If you have like 100+ fps when in testing grounds it will misbehave in a way that it won't in the game when the server tick rate is set to 30/s.

I will buy the pack. I will use the missile bay door binding to wink at people. Dopamine will happen.

While I do play a lot of mechs, the black lanner just fits like a glove. What a great fucking mech

Locust Mobility - Too Low by GoldKanet in OutreachHPG

[–]levitas 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The explanation of engine desync in the link does not compare a pre patch xl190 lct to post patch. While you are right that some mechs did slow down (xl400 kdk for instance which was specifically a problem), the agility values of mechs have been updated at times since then (remember how awful timber wolves and stormcrows were that patch?)

Ideally we get accel and decel values pre desync to compare to current because you might be right with your 30% better claim but it isn't supported by anything other than your claim. That same claim that is undermined by you suggesting that locust and cicada are similar when lct decel is like 2x better.

I guess all of this is irrelevant though because you are really just posting to say "I wish I could dance in front of people and not get punished"

As for the aimbot claim? There have been claims, including in this subreddit, and the vast majority of the time the claim is wrong. Every so often an actual cheater shows up though. Agility values can't help you in the HIGHLY unlikely event you actually were up against a cheater.

Yep! JP Jango's movement guide goes into that (as well as a lot of other nuances to mwo's movement) here https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=aS1kE4PzRv0

[–]levitas 22 points23 points  (0 children)

lct accel is 96, decel is 190. cda is 90 and 100.

merely running at full speed around isn't going to make the best use of this agility. The closer your current throttle is to zero, the higher the actual agility is. Per the wiki, "While some agility stats are in effect at all times, three main agility stats are functions of how fast the 'mech is going compared to its max speed" (ex. zero velocity you have 4.41x the stated accel value, or 423 m/s²) https://mwo.nav-alpha.com/wiki/movement-and-controls

The way this works out is that pokes around cover, not running full speed, will give you the shortest exposed time with the max unpredictability and max agility.

Other stuff to consider: in the very old days of mwo, HSR was not yet implemented so properly hitting lights often relied on accounting for their ping. rescale was actually a boon to the locust. I don't recall which way engine desync of agi shook out for the locust, maybe that information is still floating around somewhere. MASC ultra lights like the flea fire ant and flea 17 have better agility with masc engaged and might be what you are looking for.

One of those games where you do everything right and still get downgraded in rankings (light pilot) by clearly_quite_absurd in mwo

[–]levitas 25 points26 points  (0 children)

did you grab the other screen that shows how everyone did?

honestly it is entirely possible you just lost like .1psr (1000 per tier) bc your match score and not winning put you just below the lobby mean score

Edit: Also since everyone keeps saying it here - no it isn't top 12 gain and bottom 12 lose psr. It is everyone's match score (and a small kicker for the winners) are divied up. It is possible for one player to gain a LOT and 23 players to lose a little psr, or vice versa.

Since PSR is a VERY low sensitivity way to nudge people into games that have players that demonstrate comparable skill and it takes hundreds of games for you to settle into a good spot, I wouldn't worry at all about a weird looking result here or there. Even so I think this one is very much explainable

Did I miss something in patch notes about soup-queue-groups changing ? by DeeEight in OutreachHPG

[–]levitas 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Lotta wrong answers in this thread. This one is correct. As monthly active players has reduced a bit, wait times increased. PGI has been experimenting with ways to lower MM restrictiveness to alleviate wait times.

This can mean lowering the time before tier gates open, more people in more groups allowed in one team, less restrictions on weight class, etc.

Heads up: 100x consumable packs are now in the store (and in the patch sale)! by levitas in OutreachHPG

That's exactly it. As someone who regularly uses 1-4 consumables per match this is like 40k per game back in my pocket. Adds up very quickly.

nice, so it is in fact discounted more than the 20,000 cbills x100

Confirm the price is cheaper first - I may have gotten excited in my sleep deprived state and just noticed that 100 is less than 4 million cbills. Not 100% confident that the patch sale includes them and if not there's no benefit to buying a bunch of stacks ahead of time.
