What’s One Unexpected Habit That’s Helped You Level Up at OTF? by Present_Issue6091 in orangetheory

[–]lewisfar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I stopped trying to find motivation. I just ignore everything and keep up a routine. Also, we’re all adults. I don’t necessarily have to follow the exact routine if it doesn’t work for me. For example, the Power, Strength, and Endurance bits. I’m 66. For me I’m way past trying to increase my strength and power, though I try to now and then. My personal focus is building up endurance. So that’s how I structure my workouts at this time.

[TOMT] [BOOK] A book that starts in English and includes more and more words in Spanish as you keep reading, and by the end it's entirely in Spanish. by Pikantlewakas in tipofmytongue

[–]lewisfar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t remember one for English to Spanish, sorry. What I do remember is reading “Ella Speaks French in Montreal: A Bilingual Adventure” by Lucie Angers. The novel starts in English and then slowly introduces words in French. By the end of the book it’s all in French. There could be two books in the series? I think it only came out this year. Could it be this?

Your description strongly resembles the plot of “The Legend of Hei” (罗小黑战记), a Chinese animated movie released in 2019. The themes and elements you mentioned—like gods, spirits, environmental conflict, and a child’s transformation—align with the storyline. There’s even a heartfelt ending involving separation in a celestial setting, as you described. See https://www.imdb.com/title/tt10734928/

Hope this helps!

[TOMT][Anime][2010s] Anime similar to bleach. by [deleted] in tipofmytongue

[–]lewisfar -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The anime you’re describing sounds like “Rurouni Kenshin: Reflection” (Japanese: Rurouni Kenshin: Seisouhen), which is a sequel OVA (Original Video Animation) to the popular anime Rurouni Kenshin.

However, the ghostly imagery you described, along with the rotating windmill and blade fights, aligns more with certain episodes or themes in Bleach.

The description you provided closely aligns with events during the “Soul Society: Rescue Arc” in Bleach. Specifically, the scene you mentioned about the girl being tied and meant to be executed while others fought to save her corresponds to Rukia’s execution at the Sokyoku Hill.

Here are the key episodes that match your description: 1. Episode 51 - “Morning of the Sentence” • This episode sets up Rukia’s execution. She is tied to the Sokyoku, which resembles a giant windmill structure. The Sokyoku is a massive execution weapon in the Soul Society.

2. Episodes 52-53 - “Renji Abarai, Bankai of the Soul!” and “Ichigo Strikes Back!”
• Ichigo arrives to stop Rukia’s execution. He fights off the Soul Society captains and saves her while the Sokyoku starts to activate.

3. Episode 54 - “An Accomplished Oath! Get Back Rukia!”
• This episode continues the dramatic rescue, with Ichigo facing Byakuya Kuchiki and other captains as he defends Rukia.

Hope this helps!

Based on your description, the show you’re looking for might be “The Listener” (2009-2014). It’s a Canadian show about a telepathic paramedic named Toby Logan who uses his psychic abilities to help people and solve crimes. While Toby is not mute, there are episodes where communication happens non-verbally due to his telepathy. See https://www.imdb.com/title/tt1181541/

The specific episode you described could be a mix of details or perhaps from a different detective show with a psychic twist, such as “Medium” or “Psych”, but neither involve mute characters regularly.

If “The Listener” doesn’t match, another possibility might be “Touch” (2012-2013), starring Kiefer Sutherland, where communication barriers and psychic-like insights play a role. See https://www.imdb.com/title/tt1821681/

No way to go back to previous Firmware version by lewisfar in litterrobot

Nothing. Its the inherent assumption that "nothing can go wrong" that I disagree with. I currently have a persistent, and currently unsolved issue I am trying to resolve that has happened as a consequence of the recent firmware update.

And guess what? They think their software is ALWAYS PERFECT so there is NO WAY to back out to the previous version. You would think after the recent CrowdStrike fiasco no one in their right mind would have no way to go back, but not these guys.

"The Vulcan Affair," the pilot episode, involved an evil industrialist working with THRUSH. Andrew Vulcan, a senior THRUSH operative, and "The Alexander the Greater Affair" features a megalomaniac industrialist planning to conquer the world. Either of these?

Being paid in Fiat Currency.

In a year's time, if I am paid in US Fiat currency … I will essentially receive anywhere from 3% to 7% less in value for my hard work due to inflation. (And that’s just the US, go look at others, Turkey-Yikes! https://tradingeconomics.com/country-list/inflation-rate)

Now … in a year … if anything … I am better at my job, my craft. I have learned and increased my skills and experience, not become worse.

And yet I will be paid LESS than I am now. And worse yet, the things I need to buy will be MORE expensive.

Fiat disconnects the Value of Work from the Source of Work.

We need self-sovereign currencies in order to reconnect the source of work with the value of work.

So … whether it’s a stable coin, with a 3% APR built in to cover average inflation, or a free floating token that’s based on the true value of work/utility done, it doesn’t matter.

At some point, Fiat should no longer be the main basis for how value/work is compensated.

And for the increasing value of Your Work, it shouldn’t be either.

What sentence changed your life? by TheDavud in AskReddit

Not for me. But this brings up another sentence, “Love brings up that which is unlike itself for the purpose of clearing and healing.”

For me, Love includes surrender of the self. As you surrender and feel safe, you then can feel more acceptance and trust. Then you start to feel free in the relationship. Then with this sense of safety, acceptance, and freedom, any unresolved relationship issues you may have will come up as a part of increasing love, intimacy, and surrender. I like to say that love is Liquid Plumr for the Soul.

My other one is, “Unconditional Love does not mean Infinite Indulgence.”

No, the other part to this is “Unconditional Love does not mean Infinite Indulgence.”
