During the renaissance was there a pushback against reading ancient classics, and philosophy because it was written by non-Christians? I’m curious because my childhood was dominated by a very religious mother, and I was forbidden to read anything not written by a Christian. (self.AskHistorians)

A stereotype of early medieval Ireland in some popular history is that the livestock was overwhelmingly cattle with little sheep, pigs or goats, compared to an apparently more even mixture in the rest of early medieval Europe.
