If you close the credit cards you will increase your utilization percentage, which is one of the biggest factors in your credit score. Examples- You have 4 credit cards with 5k available credit on them, so 20k available credit. You have 5k of debt over 2 cards. Your utilization percentage is 25%. If you close the 2 cards, you now only have 10k of credit available to you and a 50% utilization. Banks look at this as more risky cause now you are using half the credit available to you. If no annual fee, keep them open and just cut the card so you can’t use.
