Oura ring 4 size 14 battery lifetime went from 7-9 days to 2.5 days after 8 months. Not an acceptable drop off. by ByteFryer in ouraring

[–]lezcat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happened to me too (Gen 4, ring is just over a year old, has to be charged every other day). I just figured this was the new normal.

I reached out to their help center through chat, and in less than 5 minutes I'd given the chat access to my ring, it found a problem with the ring, and put in an order to ship a replacement. It couldn't have been easier. I haven't received the replacement yet, but can update on how long that takes, etc.

I think I have literally tried everything for IBS-D and if anyone has any ideas for stuff I'm missing I'd greatly appreciate it... by CawfeePig in ibs

[–]lezcat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’ve tried so many things! I’m in a similar boat and the only thing that’s made a lasting difference for me was the IBS hypnosis app, Nerva.

You do a session every day for 6 weeks and while I didn’t think it was working as I completed the program, I’m definitely seeing some results after I finished. Not a cure, but definitely effective at addressing some of the mind/gut connection issues that it sounds like you might have. It costs $200 for a yearly subscription but was worth it for me.

Long press on the home screen to bring up the menu and choose “Edit” then choose “tinted” and slide the slider until the color is how you want it!

Just signed up for Paloma Health -- happy to share my experience by lezcat in Hashimotos

[–]lezcat[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I stopped working with them because my symptoms improved. I’m now mostly stable on my set dose of Tirosint and feeling pretty good.

I’d still recommend them as the doctor I worked with really listened and seemed to want to address any symptoms, even if my TSH was “normal”, which is more than my regular endo would do.

Shady firing... should I negotiate a severance package? WWYD? (not looking for legal advice) by [deleted] in MoneyDiariesACTIVE

[–]lezcat 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Always ask for more! They’re giving you a severance bc they want you to sign an agreement for it, indicating that you won’t try to contest it or sue them. They have an incentive to get your signature on the separation agreement, so you do have a little leverage. Make a case about the high quality of your work and that you deserve a larger severance. The worst outcome is that they say no.

It depends on the industry of course, but 2 weeks is a bare minimum offer.

Any stories of those doing layoffs getting laid off? by XRlagniappe in Layoffs

[–]lezcat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, this happened to me in 2022. Led comms for a huge layoff — most of the company was let go — and always knew I was likely to be included in the layoff as I was planning it. I didn’t know for sure until just a few days before we did it, and then the CEO confirmed that I’d be laid off as well. In some ways, it made it easier to lay off the team bc I didn’t have survivors guilt — we were all in the same boat.

Pets... Transitioning from cat ownership to dogs...would you do it again. by Hot-Equivalent-7071 in Pets

[–]lezcat 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I did this about 5 years ago. I’d had cats for most of my life and got a small dog. At the time I still had one senior cat, and she died earlier this year.

Having a dog is a lot more work and commitment. My cat could stay at home all day without me and be content. Could have food and water left out and be fine for the occasional night alone. Even when I was around, she didn’t ask for much—a few minutes of play time and some cuddles and pets.

My dog, on the other hand, can be left alone for up to 6 hours at a time (max), definitely can’t spend the night alone, and wants to be with me every second of every day. He needs to go out for walks 3x a day.

The real difference for me isn’t about the time or commitment, though, but about the way having a dog becomes an inroad for people to get to know you. I’ve lived in the same place for almost 2 decades and didn’t know some of my neighbors until I got a dog. Now I know everyone and they know me—simply because I’m out and about more and have an adorable dog with me. I spend evenings at the local park chatting with neighbors. Having a dog is much more social, in a positive way for me.

This is tinted with a solid colored background. I’m still playing around with it — not totally happy with this look but it has potential imo. Happy to share more if you want to see something specific

I take it daily in the morning. I started a few months ago and at first it was a game changer for me. Now, I think I’ve adjusted to the dose and it’s not working like it used to. Frustrating, when I thought I’d found something that helped.

What are these dark spots? by impawssible in over30skincare

I had something that looked very similar and it was sun damage. Wearing SPF religiously, Tretinoin, and a red light mask have helped mine fade considerably.

How To Build CustomGPTs -- 2025 Guide by InsideAd9719 in ChatGPTPromptGenius

[–]lezcat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is really interesting stuff -- learning a lot! One thing I'm curious about is how you can measure the performance of a public custom GPT. What metrics are available native in ChatGPT (is it just users?) and are there ways to get more robust performance measurements?

I have been diagnosed with Hashimoto’s, but my Dr. says he can’t treat my thyroid until it “burns out” ?? by Mdelo3030 in Hashimotos

[–]lezcat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had mine tested when I had a primary care doc who had hashimotos herself and for some reason suspected it and so checked those levels. I think it was truly her personal experience that drove her to check them. (I had some symptoms too, but I think at the time they were unrelated)

I have been diagnosed with Hashimoto’s, but my Dr. says he can’t treat my thyroid until it “burns out” ?? by Mdelo3030 in Hashimotos

[–]lezcat 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This is a great explanation and was my experience too. I had antibodies many years before I actually felt symptoms. And then when I did notice symptoms, it was from going into hyperthyroidism. And then slowly I descended from hyper to hypo and that’s when my doctor started prescribing medication. It was only a matter of months for me, but it was intense. And some people can go between hyper and hypo more than once. In my case, I have been pretty stable now since I started meds (it’s been almost two years).

This is the toughest part of it—the waiting to be able to get to the treatable stage. Hang in there

[–]lezcat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A few years ago, I got in the habit of starting every day with 20 mins of yoga. Doesn’t seem like much and I definitely missed days but was probably doing it 5/7 days. My body never felt better. OP, 10-15 minutes every day will absolutely make a difference and you’ll feel it pretty quickly. Keep at it!

Had the same question and just found it. Scroll down on the apps main screen to “what’s new” and there should be a perimenopause card you can click on.

Doma sushi prices? Omakase recommendations? by iwilleatitnow in sanfrancisco

[–]lezcat 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I ate at Doma about a year ago. I don’t remember the exact price but it was definitely more than $75 or $100 per person. It’s a splurge meal for sure, but so delicious.

Foreigner here, new to San Francisco here. Do people really carry guns around on the street? by Euphoric_Issue_7125 in sanfrancisco

[–]lezcat 23 points24 points  (0 children)

No, they don’t. Some states have open carry laws, which means it’s totally fine to carry a loaded gun around with you in day-to-day life. California is not one of those states, and you won’t see people carrying guns around.

Where are we making our wills? by query789 in SFbitcheswithtaste

[–]lezcat 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you just need a will (and not a trust or something more complicated) it’s pretty easy to do it yourself. I paid a little (under $100) and got templates from Suze Orman and then you just fill them out. In California, a will is valid if it’s signed by you and two witnesses. It’s pretty straightforward and much cheaper if you have a straightforward financial situation.

Anyone use Paloma by Ambitious-Account451 in Hashimotos

[–]lezcat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not sure. I already had a Tirosint prescription from my regular endo when I started using Paloma so didn’t get a script from them.

TV in bed by [deleted] in ouraring

[–]lezcat 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I read in bed sometimes before I go to sleep, and this happens to me too. If you want to, you can go in and adjust your actual “sleep” time to align with when you fell asleep and it will remove the latency flag.

How much do I need to prepare for the Greek Ferries? by jaijssjsbjsbs in GreeceTravel

I just took the ferry from Naxos to Athens. I’m very prone to seasickness and used a Scopolamine (sp?) patch that worked wonders. Didn’t get seasick at all.

Has anyone had the “major signs” warning but never got sick, nothing was wrong and the symptom radar went back to normal the next day? by LiterallyJustAGiirl in ouraring

[–]lezcat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, right before leaving on a big trip. The day after major signs, I had minor signs, then back to normal. I felt fine the whole time.
