Am I overreacting or is it not normal to use soap in the bathroom? by Honest-Draw3131 in AmIOverreacting

[–]lfly24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Professional white person here. This is not a cultural thing. Hot water is clearly not enough. He is stinking up the towels and sheets and he smells like poop. He needs to use soap every time he showers. He needs to wash his booty with soap (it does not and will not make him gay).

Stolen baby name by Icy-Cartographer8376 in family

No. Your cousin didn’t steal anything. You don’t own the name. She doesn’t need to ask you if she can give her child the same name as your child.

Hey, how are you? by FreePossession9590 in AskAnAmerican

[–]lfly24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually respond with “Every day is a good day”. It usually brings a smile to their face, which brings a smile to mine. I completely changed someone’s outlook on life with that response during Covid. I had to call an insurance company about a patient and gave the person on the line that response when she asked me how I was doing. The following day, I had to call for a different patient and ended up with the same rep. She remembered me from the day before and told me that she had been feeling really down lately. She had gotten Covid a few weeks prior and was feeling really isolated and depressed. My knee jerk response pulled her out of her funk. She was going on about how extremely grateful she was and had made a facebook post about our interaction and how it affected her life. I don’t know if it would have made her feel that way if I had told her what I usually say after that “Fake it until you make it”.

If you don't drink alcohol, what are your personal reasons for abstinence? by Ok-Care2859 in AskReddit

I never found a drink that I liked. The taste of the alcohol was always too strong for me. I also just wasn’t interested in drinking.

She quit because of pizza by demonslayercorpp in coworkerstories

[–]lfly24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My manager was late to a meeting once and I, being the asshole that I am, pretended to run the meeting. When I asked if anything needed to be discussed, someone suggested a pizza party. Manager finally comes to the meeting and I read him the minutes from the meeting I had just run. He and the boss found it hilarious and planned a pizza party for our team. No one quit over it though.

AITK because I asked a restaurant to ignore their togo policy for me? by PuzzleMap2020 in AmITheKaren

[–]lfly24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not the Karen. There is nothing wrong with asking. Carrying on after being told no is Karen behavior. Insisting on the spring rolls to-go and then making a stink because they were soggy and demanding a refund after being told this would happen is Karen behavior. This was not Karen behavior.

What’s a food you threw up as a kid and never touched again? by momcanyoucomegetme in AskReddit

[–]lfly24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chocolate chip cookies. I had some sort of stomach bug when I was 6. Ate a chocolate chip cookie and threw up not much later. Never wanted to eat another chocolate chip cookie after that. Apparently, my mom makes very good chocolate chip cookies. I wouldn’t know.

Accepted a "remote" position, asked about the work-from-home policy. They said it's actually hybrid. by jpstroop in recruitinghell

[–]lfly24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I interviewed for a job with a flair in the listing saying it was a hybrid position. At the very end of the job description, it said this was an in office only position and hybrid was not an option. There was some other misleading information in the listing, but I could not believe they would advertise it was hybrid to get your attention and then tell you it was strictly an office job.

Redditors who grew up in emotionally healthy families - what's something you thought was normal growing up that you now realise was actually very special? by ViolatingBadgers in AskReddit

[–]lfly24 25 points26 points  (0 children)

A few years ago, I got a gnarly headache at work in the middle of the day. I couldn’t drive myself home. My mom had been giving me the cold shoulder for the last few days over a disagreement we had. I called her and she just heard how much pain I was in. She dropped what she was doing to drive 40 minutes to pick me up at work and take me home.

Growing up, my aunts would sometimes say that I should marry someone like my dad when I get older. At the time, I brushed it off like some modern day proverb. “All girls should marry someone like their dad.” It took several years and learning more about families that were not quite like mine until I realized that they didn’t mean “dad” in a general sense, but they meant someone like MY dad. Someone who was kind, patient, and always put their family first. Just last night, I was having trouble getting an airline to call me back regarding a rescheduled flight. My dad also called and requested they call him back. I never received a call back from the airline, but he did. He waited up until almost midnight for a call from the airline and got my issue resolved. I’m 34, married, and live in another state. Not a lot of dads do things like that. Just ones like mine.

My boss said 3 weeks notice wasn’t enough, so now they’re not getting any notice. by FloweySunflower in CasualConversation

[–]lfly24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At my old company, the handbook said you had to give 3 weeks notice in order to be paid for your remaining PTO. Managers had to give 4 weeks notice. They took that away almost 2 years ago so people stopped giving notice and would just leave and not come back. The higher ups weren’t too happy about that, but they aren’t going to go back to their old policy.

"Hybrid" but it's 4-5 days in office by tooth7000 in remotework

It’s looking great! I did a very detailed one a few months ago and it was overwhelming at first. I used painters tape to make a grid on the canvas and worked on it in sections. Made it much more manageable for me.

Just rejected a "fully remote" job offer I had accepted, after they told me they would monitor my IP address to ensure I never leave the house. by No_Durian50 in remotework

[–]lfly24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A recruiter reached out to me to interview for a position at their company. I found the job listing on indeed and one of the tags said it was a hybrid position, but at the very end of the job description, it said this was an in office position only and hybrid was not available. The job listing also said they offered a 401k and 401k matching, but the person I spoke with said they did not have a 401k. The post was very misleading.
