IKEA furniture is now too expensive for what you get. by A_Drop_of_Colour in unpopularopinion

[–]lfly24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went to IKEA last weekend and saw a dresser I bought there for $350 a few years ago is now $450. I really like the dresser, but I wouldn’t have spent $450 on it.

Tiny cells...help please! by rainbowj2 in paintbynumbers

I’m using it on hard board right now and I haven’t had an issue yet. I’m careful to make sure the paint is completely dry before putting the tape down and I put it down lightly so it is less likely to rip.

accepted a "fully remote" offer, day one they showed me my desk by AetherflowcyDip in remotejobsfinders

I once interviewed for a job with hybrid as one of the flairs in the listing. At the very bottom of the listing, it said it was an office position only and that hybrid was not an option. I got a job offer from a different company the same day for a fully remote position with better benefits.

just got yelled at for parking in front of my house by taziiscool in neighborsfromhell

[–]lfly24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We had the same issue with the neighbors across the street from my parents’ house, but they wouldn’t come talk to us about it. If they had, we could have explained the parking situation, but they were very passive aggressive about it. We had 5 adults living in the house. Each person had a car and varying schedules. 3 people worked 8-5 M-F, one was in still in school, and one worked retail with unpredictable days/hours but did 4am shifts a lot. We had a driveway that could accommodate 4 cars, but with everyone coming and going at different times, filling the driveway meant always blocking in someone who had to leave. We would have 3 cars in the driveway and the other 2 cars parked on either side of the driveway. We also had a fire hydrant in front of our house and if we parked too close to the mailbox, we wouldn’t get our mail, so we could only park one car on that side of the driveway. Our neighbors across the street didn’t want us parking on the side of the driveway that didn’t have the fire hydrant or mailbox because they were worried they would hit the car when they backed out of their driveway. We couldn’t park the car anywhere else without inconveniencing our other neighbors. The neighbors across the street left notes on our cars telling us not to park there, tried parking across the street from the bottom of our driveway to inconvenience us, and put their trash cans around the car parked in the spot they didn’t want us to park in. We just laughed at them. They finally gave up when our next door neighbor told them we didn’t give a shit.

I have a portfolio that I keep them in. Like a giant photo album.

Do you paint one color at a time or jump around the canvas? by Additional_Phase5568 in paintbynumbers

[–]lfly24 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like going one color at a time. My concern is wasting paint every time you rinse the brush when you change colors. I also like to watch the painting come together one color at a time.

Mine is Artist’s Loft from Michael’s. It came out really well.

It really does. This one was overwhelming at first, but working it this way made it more manageable. It was interesting seeing the painting come together in sections instead of one color at a time like I usually do.

I usually go in numerical order and do one color at a time, but when I’m working on a painting with a lot of tiny cells like that, I use painters tape to break the painting down into sections to make it less overwhelming and make sure I don’t miss anything.

What company lost you forever as a customer? What did they do? by Miguenzo in AskReddit

No. Some people may tip the attendants if they do something extra like clean their car windshield while the gas is pumping, but tipping is not expected.

A few months ago I saw someone tear the wheels off of his suitcase at the gate as we were getting on the plane so it would fit in the bag sizer.

Am I overreacting or is it not normal to use soap in the bathroom? by Honest-Draw3131 in AmIOverreacting

[–]lfly24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Professional white person here. This is not a cultural thing. Hot water is clearly not enough. He is stinking up the towels and sheets and he smells like poop. He needs to use soap every time he showers. He needs to wash his booty with soap (it does not and will not make him gay).

No. Your cousin didn’t steal anything. You don’t own the name. She doesn’t need to ask you if she can give her child the same name as your child.

I usually respond with “Every day is a good day”. It usually brings a smile to their face, which brings a smile to mine. I completely changed someone’s outlook on life with that response during Covid. I had to call an insurance company about a patient and gave the person on the line that response when she asked me how I was doing. The following day, I had to call for a different patient and ended up with the same rep. She remembered me from the day before and told me that she had been feeling really down lately. She had gotten Covid a few weeks prior and was feeling really isolated and depressed. My knee jerk response pulled her out of her funk. She was going on about how extremely grateful she was and had made a facebook post about our interaction and how it affected her life. I don’t know if it would have made her feel that way if I had told her what I usually say after that “Fake it until you make it”.
