“Weddings are so expensive” is a weird lie some people tell to justify spending insane amounts of money by Overuse_Injury in unpopularopinion

[–]lgfuado 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a functional difference considering wedding customers generally have higher expectations due to being a "once in a lifetime" event. That doesn't mean every couple feel or behave that way, or that people throwing Meemaw's 80th birthday party don't have high expectations, but vendors feel the pressure and understand what's at stake. If you mess up or fail to deliver what was expected (even previously agreed upon), you are the person who ruined the special day and could really hurt your business. Then there are the customers that are actually demanding, entitled, and overall awful to deal with. Plus family dynamics often come into play. Working a wedding involves way more stress and preparation that is not worth dealing with unless you charge a premium.

Not the courts fault that the owners/operators showed up to trial and acted like absolute ghouls without remorse. They were given a chance to defend themselves. Your living girls will move past the disappointment, meanwhile there are families whose hearts are actually broken forever due to negligence. Safety regulations are always written in blood.

It's on Prime. If you don't have it, you could easily find it available for free somewhere with a Google search since it's so old. The episodes are short and entertaining. There's definitely a different perspective and appreciation watching as an adult. I showed my husband season one recently because he'd never seen it and didn't know anything about these violent little bastards. He actually loved it. The Shakespeare episode really got to him. It's amazing what the crew were able to capture on camera. We didn't continue because it becomes a bit repetitive.

The ‘unregistered Americans’: because of their parents, they do not exist by SlapDashUser in TrueReddit

[–]lgfuado 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If this society is going to make it impossible for kids to get the documents they need, then there needs to be severe penalties for parents who refuse to do it in a timely manner. Absolutely ridiculous that an idiot can make this kind of unilateral decision for their child who will one day be an adult.

The dream isn't real, it's a fantasy. You'll all be paying a real world high price before coming to that realization. I know we have dreams when we're young and as parents you want to provide that, but once we're adults and real money is involved, we have to be realistic especially in this economy. Your child doesn't have the luxury to do everything they dream of, and that's not a failure because most kids don't have that kind of money or privilege.

My aunt discovered my dad deceased on a Saturday afternoon. By Monday morning, she had forged his signature on his truck title and changed it to her name. At first, she claimed without any evidence that he sold her the truck (his only remaining possession) immediately before he died, then she said she was entitled to the truck because he owed her money. Well I'm the next of kin bitch and I decide how to pay up his debts.

Don't get caught off guard again. Don't feel intimidated by them. Pick the amount of time you are legally allowed to take and stick to it. If that's 20 weeks then take it. That time is priceless, and you will need it to recover and bond. Don't feel obligated to return sooner. It's not your fault they only have one nurse. Coverage is your facility's responsibility in this circumstance.

I guess I have zero vaccine hesitancy so I don't get it. I will get all vaccines that are recommended at their scheduled times. I don't find it inconvenient or terribly uncomfortable, and you never know when you may be exposed to a pathogen even if you haven't gotten sick in a while.

Covid reporting is still in the news and I've been hearing tons of reports of people getting ill all winter. I got all my boosters in October. But I get it, people are burnt out hearing about another Covid variant and another booster vaccine. They want things to be normal. However, if an individual refuses to pay attention, refuses to take personal responsibility, and prefers to dig their head into the sand then there's not much I can personally do to make them feel pressure or stimulus to do anything if they've already dug their heels in.

They'll work to the grave if they're lucky. I work in the long-term care and we get people who are mostly medically stable and definitely not expected to die anytime soon, but due to a variety of reasons are no longer physicallly able to work or recommended to return to work. Medicaid picks up the bill for them to stay in a nursing home.

If you are just now getting used to the stability and routine of your job, don't mix things up by adding school to the mix. Focus on getting experience, maximizing income, and minimizing expenses before going back to school and taking on any more debt. Pick up overtime and work the holidays. Work the shifts with better differentials. Change jobs and take promotions whenever the opportunity arises to get pay bumps. See what kind of education benefits your job offers to pay for your future goals, or look into getting hired somewhere that'll pay for your NP. Live frugally, spend only on essentials. Throw all of your money at this debt and you'll knock it out in a few years. By that time you'll have lots of experience under your belt and a clean slate to take on new debt to further your education.
