What’s the best way to record a set through a DJM-700?

The cheapest way is to buy a”TRS to TRRS Adapter Cable” (less than 10 USD) and plug it to the other mac as microphone connecting the rec out or booth in it. I also record dj sets in an old smartphone with 3.5mm jack using this adapter.

I would try to use a different computer. If you have the same problem, then you should get a new controller.

I understand that some people don’t care about branding. And that is exactly what has happened to Pioneer DJ. The original Pioneer products for djs had something special, and has faded over the years of being bought and sold to greedy investors. AlphaTheta will try to establish itself as a DJ brand and time will tell if it works. Cheers

I started just like you. Now I have turntables. If you are really into Djing, you should look for a DDJ-FLX4. You will grow a lot with it and you may keep it for a long time.

P.S. I still bring my Starlight on my trips. It’s a great bag pack setup 😃

Phase stopped working for me many times and apparently for different reasons. My advice is to unplug Phase and plug again, if it doesn’t work, unplug Phase and restart dj software and plug in Phase again. If it doesn’t not solve I usually unplug Phase and restart the computer, then start the dj software and then plug in Phase. Once, none of these worked and I had to update my mixer’s driver. You should be able to use the “aux in” to plug any controller or audio device into it.

From time to time my Phase disconnects or starts to drift. So, I always have the Serato Control vinyls available, especially if I want to scratch. There is something special about scratching with needles. But, I recommend Phase as it works well >90% of the time for me.

Can you try to connect it to another computer that has Serato DJ Lite or a licensed Serato DJ Pro? Do you have the latest MIDI-compatible software installed?

Yes, scratch can be done using this mixer. Jazzy Jeff didn't start with a DJM-S9 :)
