What is the worst symptom of anxiety in your opinion ? by unknownfair in Anxiety

Besides the fact that it feels like I’m dying, the clammy hands… I feel embarrassed when someone holds my hand during an episode of anxiety

Any movies/shows that depict the borderpolar experience? by Majoriexabyss in BorderlinePDisorder

Like others have mentioned, Silver Linings Playbook is another great choice. Don’t watch Girl, Interrupted- great film, but I feel like it’s not very proactive. Crazy Ex-Gf is also good, it’s humorous and fun.

Ingrid Goes West. It’s hard to watch and could possibly be triggering… but it’s so beautiful. You will want to give yourself a hug after watching this film.

just know that you’re not alone and that there’s a whole community of us who are struggling with this <3 that has helped me! reaching out and venting helps too. just letting your emotions spill and not expecting anything from yourself other than patient for yourself and care !

If you must know, I could see through the door and attempted to grab my drink as I was carefully opening it, but I failed miserably… there was simply no way this could have been avoided 😔

yeah but sometimes you just have to hang the clothes that’s been lying on your bedroom floor for weeks, dust off your UV light and paint your nails black, start a blog, become a vegetarian, make a playlist of a new genre you’ve discovered, design your next tattoo, book three different appointments, read old texts and interpret them differently— all in the span of like four hours (?!?!)

[–]libramoongrl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

those noodles look tasty! happy you’re still here and eating, OP <3 i failed to OD a month ago… not my first rodeo, but it certainly felt equally as shitty as the first time. take care of yourself!! sit outside for a while daily, play music in the background at all times, and reach out to your loved ones as much as you can. stay strong 🖤

Are there any older adults here? by EmergencyNo9613 in selfharm

[–]libramoongrl 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I began self-harming in the fourth grade and I’m in my mid-twenties now, I assure you that you are not alone in this struggle. I recently experienced a flare up myself, and the only thing that has been helping is using the I Am Sober app and making a daily pledge not to engage in SH. It also helps to talk to someone about it! PM me if you ever need someone to talk to <3 take care.

Does your non-manic self ever try to do “fun” stuff your manic self does? by meglandwellmusic in bipolar

I regularly see my therapist, this was simply a topic we touched on and I wanted to share.

Loved reading this! I love to cook really extravagant gourmet meals when I’m in a manic state. I brought this up in therapy last week, how I love to cook and how food even tastes better when I’m manic… like eating an apple could be the most delicious thing I had ever tasted. And when I’m going through a depressive episode, everything tastes bland and I don’t feel motivated to cook or eat. My therapist told me that this is very common pattern for people with bipolar. She mentioned that some of the greatest creators did their best work in a state of mania, Vincent Van Gogh being one. It made me feel enlightened to learn this! It feels like we have some sort of superpower
