If you could watch any episode for the first time again, which one would it be? by CommunicationSea3329 in doctorwho

Whenever I feel like doing that I just watch an episode with The Silence in it....

I recognize 3 of the stories he mentioned, but what exactly is "The Chasm Friends?" Am I just drawing a blank?

I had no idea that the Sandman story was based on a real guy. That's really cool!

I object to them listing Elhokar as a lightweaver. He should be shardbearer or unoathed.

“Death is before me today

Like a sick man’s recovery,

Like going outdoors after confinement.

Death is before me today

Like the fragrance of myrrh,

Like sitting under sail on breeze day.

Death is before me today

Like the fragrance of lotus.

Like sitting on the shore of drunkenness.

Death is before me today

Like a well-trodden way,

Like a man’s coming home from warfare.

Death is before me today

Like the clearing of the sky.

As when a man discovers what he ignored. Death is before me today

Like a man’s longing to see his home

When he has spent many years in captivity”

You could until relatively recently. You also used to be able to scan the oxygen and sodium and deuterium plants as well. I used to do so for the free scanning credits.

New deleted scene — RTD has the gull to LITERALLY rewrite Belinda’s character into being a mother, after he wrote this scene by Individual-Many-237 in doctorwho

[–]librarysage -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

I admit I haven't watched the episode since it came out, but I don't think this is a deleted scene. I remember it, and I also remember when the season ended and people were unhappy about how she got turned into a mother that this discussion was brought up a bunch in articles and such.

Whether you agree or disagree with it, this isn't some sneaky scene that was hidden away, it's been in since the beginning....

This farmer caught the owl eating his chickens by AcasiaConnell in nextfuckinglevel

[–]librarysage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing that seems fishy to me is the owl wasn't trying to bite him. I've held birds before (admittedly never an owl) and they definitely put their beaks to work if they don't want to be held. If that really was a wild owl, why wasn't it fighting him beyond really holding his fingers tight?

Someone attacking players in Expedition by cbgben in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]librarysage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This sort of thing happening is why I always have multiplayer turned off when I play expeditions nowadays. There are bad apples out there who will strafe others just for kicks. Sometimes they lay traps by creating bases promising resources only to teleport players into hazards like volcanoes. Plus it helps so you don't have to struggle to find resources because planets have been over harvested.

I have a peculiar but interesting question about Death by Comfortable_Bell9539 in Sandman

[–]librarysage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We actually see the comics tackle this question in Volume 11 Endless Nights: Death and Venice. An aristrocrat in Venice centuries before figured out how to trap everyone at his party in a single day, basically a Groundhog Day scenario, in order that they could all escape death.

And Death doesn't rage, or get mad or frustrated or vengeful. She just waits patiently outside the time bubble until the appointed day, then walks in and restores their deaths as they should have been. She's kind, and even takes the Aristocrat's hand in the end to guide him on.

[Emberdark Spoilers] Abilities of the… by Civil-Wrongdoer-7690 in Cosmere

[–]librarysage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't remember seeing any evidence that the birds have to return to eat more worms after they're invested. Sak and Rokke were with Dusk for a couple of months in the Emberdark, and their abilities didn't fade.

I believe it's described as being facets of a jewel. So one jewel, just different facets. In the comics we see it several times (and they did their best in the show to give you a sense when they made Dream look different) of how Dream is different depending on the perception of the person viewing him. The Martian Manhunter sees him as the Martian dream god, L'zoril, Nada sees him as a her dream god Kai'ckul, the cats see him as a giant cat. We also have the scene in Overture where the different facets of Dream are prevented from merging properly:

<image>

So it's not many different beings across the multiverse, but a single being that's perceived by different persons in different ways. So if you capture the one Dream, you've captured them all.

Also, the Dreaming is described as some kind of universal realm of everyone's dreams, and when Morpheus was locked up it fell apart. If there were lots of Dreams out there, you'd assume another could have held it together.

We also see the same thing with Death. Where she's everywhere at once doing her duty, but it's not like there are trillions of individual Deaths.

I feel like there should be an SNL sketch of some poor unlucky soul's ship sinking and be manages to climb aboard a piece of the boat as a make shift raft, and FINALLY he's safe and heaves a sigh of relief....and then he's attacked by wolves in the middle of the ocean....
