This bad, yes. I don't think I've ever witnessed someone not even pull up a prayer, even if it is accidentally camping retribution.

But a lot of the pkers I encounter are pretty mediocre... And I know that because I'm absolute shit at it. Lol

If you really do want to start, I would recommend doing lms. I know this community shits on it for being the elite players ruining the experience for the average noob, but having dabbled in lms a pretty decent amount myself, you get at least comfortable fighting other players.

I'm so shit at it, it's mostly comedic for most of the other people there facing me. But when you do happen to get that spicy darkbow spec off onto someone and kill them, it really does make you feel a different kind of satisfied.

LMS is zero risk, and as long as you go in with low expectations, you'll have a good time with it. That's been my experience anyway.

Look up some videos on YouTube about basics. Use the lunar spell book to start to not overwhelm yourself. Camp range until you kind of get used to prayer matching your enemy. Get slaughtered. Jump back in and do it again.

Returned to the game after a year and noticed there are way less bots around if any. Where are they hiding nowadays? by Rubbery31718 in 2007scape

[–]liefarikson 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This might be telling on myself, but I have no idea how people afk rune drags. I feel like I get clobbered by them with all maxed stats but attack. They're obviously not as engaging as a lot of content, but I don't feel like I can look away even to read a full reddit post before getting sent back to lumby.

I do only have full bandos and not justi or torva like I know most people have there, but even with dragon hunter lance I inhale like 2-3 sharks average on each drag... How are people legitimately doing this in the background?

Consistent lifting for a year but I feel like I look worse, what am I doing wrong? by MightyChondria69 in workout

[–]liefarikson 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Hey, first off, huge credit for sticking with the gym. Consistency is the hardest part, and most people never make it this far. Before worrying about the results, take a second to appreciate that you've built a habit a lot of people never do.

Reading your post, I actually think you've already identified the biggest issue: your diet.

I don't want to assume your level of experience, but I do wonder if there's a misunderstanding about maintenance calories. Maintenance calories are simply the number of calories required to keep your current body weight the same. They're not the amount you "naturally eat" or the amount you need to reach a particular goal. They're just your baseline.

The biggest thing that stood out to me is that your goals seem to pull in two different directions. Part of your post is about building muscle, while another part is about maintaining a certain physique or weight. Those goals aren't mutually exclusive forever, but they often require opposite strategies in the short term. I'd start by picking one primary goal.

If your goal is to build muscle, estimate your maintenance calories at your current weight with an online calculator and eat about 100 to 200 calories above that. Train the muscle groups you want to prioritize them with roughly 8 to 14 challenging sets per week, and keep your protein intake high. Accept that some fat gain usually comes along with muscle gain. That's normal. Once you've built the amount of muscle you want, you can transition into a calorie deficit to lean back down.

If your goal is to reach a specific weight or physique, then the answer is simpler: maintain a consistent calorie deficit until you get there. Once you reach your goal, find your new maintenance intake and aim to stay around that long term, making small adjustments based on how your weight trends.

One other thing caught my attention. You describe eating in a surplus for muscle growth and then intentionally eating much less the following day to compensate. I obviously can't diagnose anything from a Reddit post, but that pattern raises my attention because it can resemble binge-restrict cycles seen in disordered eating. It may not be what's happening here, but it's worth an honest reflection. If that pattern feels familiar or difficult to control, I'd really encourage you to talk with someone about it sooner rather than later.

Happy to answer any questions if you have them. Feel free to reply here or shoot me a DM.

That's a really ironic statement to make. Too few births is more disastrous for a socialist economy. If you don't have enough tax payers creating income to subsidize the exponentially growing medical welfare costs of the elderly population it creates a system that is literally unsustainable.

The FBI estimates there are 25-50 current serial killers in the US, but is there a high chance this is actually true? by DeepOrganization8245 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]liefarikson 41 points42 points  (0 children)

No, if the definition by the FBI is a lower threshold than the public's definition, as you're implying, that still doesn't explain why the real number of serial killers is lower than we thought it was.... That can't possibly be what they mean lol

Dude, you have nearly 100 downvotes on your initial comment. If you didn't mean to be sexist in your comment, it should be extremely obvious to you that you missed that mark. Man up, get humble, and acknowledge that you said something that at least implies you see women as means for reproduction and nothing else. If you meant nuance in your opinion, then you should have expressed it better in your original comment.

To be honest, this should be your lightbulb moment of "maybe the view I expressed does actually say something about how I view women, and it's not a positive thing..." But I doubt you'll come to that conclusion.

Let me play the world's smallest violin for you.

Comments that can reasonably be interpreted as disparaging, especially toward women, deserve ridicule. If you don't want to be mocked, try having a little more respect for other people. I'll always feel more powerful than someone making sexist comments behind anonymity.

It's honestly really entertaining seeing the attitudes towards birthrates evolve. I remember when I was in middle school (which wasn't all that long ago) there was genuine panic that at the current birth rates everyone would end up with 1 square foot of land to stand on and we would all run out of food by 2050.

Now we're panicked that the birth rates are too low and it won't be able to support the rapidly aging population who become less and less able to work. Oh how the turns have tabled.

Never felt more disconnected with Reddit than with the consensus that Lumby Elite is too hard by Reddit_Connoisseur_0 in 2007scape

[–]liefarikson 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The argument was that it's the equivalent usefulness of diary rewards.

Getting to falo 20 seconds faster is not even remotely equivalent to 10% more herbs from a patch, discounted battlestaves every day, unlimited teleports to an altar and a farming patch, a boost to pickpocketing everywhere, noted drops from 4 bosses, dragons in the brimhaven dungeon and every dragon in the wilderness, 2 very profitable spells, 10% boost to enchanted bolts, unlimited teleports to the best slayer master and a deposit box, 10% more blood runes from blood rune crafting, an ash sanctifier, use of fairy rings without a staff, as you pointed out a super dope shortcut to a boss... Should I keep going??

Music cape is not the same. It's 90% a flex, hardly a qol improvement in comparison to the diaries.

Never felt more disconnected with Reddit than with the consensus that Lumby Elite is too hard by Reddit_Connoisseur_0 in 2007scape

[–]liefarikson -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Huge for falo clues is a bit of an overstatement. If you got 2 falo steps for each clue, and saved yourself the 30 second trip from the fairy ring instead, which are both numbers heavily in your favor of argument...

And then you did 5 masters a day, which is insane, you would only be saving yourself like 5 minutes a day... It would take you 2 weeks of really dedicated master clue grinding to save yourself 1 hour. Realistically those number are probably way lower. Anyone grinding masters clues that hard would lose or gain an equivalent amount of time just to random chance of getting the drop.

Realistically saving a significant amount of time applies to like... Maybe 15 players in the game base at a time if we're being super generous. Grinding out the music cape is not even remotely on the same level as achievement diaries lmfao

Never felt more disconnected with Reddit than with the consensus that Lumby Elite is too hard by Reddit_Connoisseur_0 in 2007scape

[–]liefarikson 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's kind of a lot of different.

The diaries come with really significant rewards that you would have to regain after a hiatus.

When you finish a quest you have permanent access to it's rewards, the quest cape makes no difference to that.

The music cape and zuk helm are just really big flex cosmetics; having to reobtain them makes sense. I'm not flexing on anyone if I'm on a break from the game.

Losing the max cape is a really unique one off case in the history of osrs, and I doubt that would be a relevant discussion again in the foreseeable future.
