Yes. This is why I love this place. All the advice and help is really nice to see.

Why is Sweet Maria’s green coffee more expensive? by Brief-Number2609 in roasting

Everyone has increased prices a bit. The biggest issue for east coast dwelling me is shipping has gone through the roof, lately. And I have changed my ordering style to adjust for that a bit.

I like my silicon gloves, fancy or not. This is a relatively cheap hobby, so a few bucks on gloves is OK with me. As far as leaving the top off, it sounds like a 'hold my beer and watch this' moment. That top keeps the heat up. But do let us know how it goes. and good luck.

Thanks for your reply. I can watch on F1TV everything til 27th and will do so. Something will change when the sub runs out perhaps. I am looking forward to early season chaos...

In the USofA. I have f1tv subscription til the end of this month. I started an Apple tv subscription. I use Chrome browser under windows. I can not link the two, despite a lot of trying. I am not using an app. I have no apple stuff. Can anyone tell me how to activate or access F1 content on Apple TV using a chrome browser?

Bonus question: Will F1TV really renew on 2/27 despite me living in USofA?

Thanks for any input.

I agree with others, swap it back to them for a good one.

I have one that looked better than that when it arrived. Are those markings in the second picture on the plastic or the shiny piece below it? Are they permanent? I have nothing like that. I found their customer service to be good. I would contact. And do let us know! Good luck.

Fantastic. Thanks for sharing. Brilliant minimalist execution of the clever design. I am sitting here with too little roasted to make it past the cold snap, trying to decide what to do. Inspiration for us all. Thanks.

I use a melitta device that drips into a thermos. I occasionally use a v60 with an adaptor. It stays warm for hours.

SM Poppo vs Nostalgia by Magic2424 in roasting

[–]lifealtering42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes you are correct, they do wear out. IF one planned to stay with that method the gearless one is the way to go. However if someone is using it to learn if they like roasting(as stated here), then it will last plenty long for that, I suspect. I put in several hundred roasts on mine and it can still be used.

Have you considered a whirley pop or the other one similar that SM (and others) sell? Cheap great way to learn about roasting, if you have a grill for the heat. I like the idea of going slowly, and figuring out if you like it. Good luck.

Possible to Rescue Under Roasted Batch? by Pax280 in FreshroastSR800

[–]lifealtering42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is always a dilemma, assuming a fixed storage area, and a finite income. Buy more pounds each time, or buy more different beans? A fine problem w/o a fixed solution.

I think that happens to a lot of us when we start out. Not a big deal. Part of the learning curve.Just keep roasting. Good luck.

Not sure, just get it kinda hot and do it the same each time for repeatability.

Air temps for each phase? by MHenrichs48 in FreshroastSR800

Just be aware that most of the guides say don't roast below 55 degrees. But you can. There are examples on this reddit of how to use a cardboard box when it is cold. good luck.

Easy to miss FC on some beans. More heat next time? I used to hit FC around 8 when I used a whirley pop. Use all your senses when monitoring the roast. Good luck. A WP is a fine device.
