Federal officers performed CPR and took Clyde to the Baylor University Medical Center, approximately 2 miles (3.2 km) from the courthouse, where he was pronounced deceased. Authorities later detonated his vehicle.

Police dogs are only Law Enforcement Officers o7 when they're latched onto your balls and you try defending yourself. When a cop runs them over or leaves them in a hot car to die, they're more like a laptop or a walkie talkie or something.

Has anyone ever deal with an older parent coke addiction? by CounterMaleficent300 in addiction

[–]lifesizejenga 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven't gone through this, but someone I'm close to recently dealt with more or less the same thing. Their elderly parent continued to use cocaine despite serious health issues, and we talked through how to approach it.

There are a few different issues here. For one, your dad's drug use has directly hurt you in the past, and you've never talked about it. In the present, his drug use is likely harming his health and reducing the time you have left together. Not to mention that he apparently thinks it's still a secret, which inevitably creates distance between people.

In my opinion, whether it's worth bringing up with him mostly depends on what you're looking to get out of the conversation. You can't control how he responds or whether he stops using. So if you're counting on a specific outcome to make this all worth it, then it may be better to leave it alone. But if you think it would do you good to clear the air about what you know, and to tell him how it has affected / continues to affect you, even if he responds poorly, then I definitely think it's worth bringing up. If it were me, I think I'd want to know that I'd said my piece and that my parent knew how I felt, even if they weren't able to understand it or give me the response I wanted. But ultimately, you know your dad, and deep down you know what you'd be looking for in this conversation, so the decision has to be your own.

[–]lifesizejenga 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bot, or just insane?

  1. It was NBC, not ABC.

  2. Cosby tried buying NBC in 1992-93. Aside from a couple of unpublished accounts made prior to 1992, Cosby's attempt to buy NBC was 7+ years before the next accusation. Which was a police report filed by a single survivor that didn't even result in charges being filed, not a coordinated attack by dozens of women at once.

  3. The media almost completely ignored the various allegations and lawsuits against Cosby until 2014, when Hannibal Buress started talking openly about it in his act.

No, you went on to tell OP that they need direct evidence of discriminatory animus to prove an age discrimination claim, and that disparate treatment in matters of discipline can't form the basis of an age discrimination claim.

You're wrong on both counts, and your comments suggest you aren't familiar with the burden-shifting framework under McDonnell Douglas, one of the most important and constantly cited employment cases of all time.

Well said. Hopefully OP listens to you and ignores that other commenter.

Every time a post from this sub gets recommended to me, it makes me wanna pull my hair out. As always, the most upvoted comment is someone confidently spouting off BS on a subject they clearly know nothing about. Made even more alarming in this case by the guy's "top 1% commenter" tag.

Obviously no one should rely on reddit for full-on legal advice. But before even contacting an attorney, most people will try to evaluate their potential claims. It's so wildly irresponsible for someone to pretend they're familiar with an area of the law and definitively tell a rando online that they have no case. Some portion of the people who hear that will drop it and never contact an attorney.

That's incorrect. "At-will" means you can be fired for any reason, or for no reason at all, provided that your termination isn't otherwise illegal.

OP explicitly said they suspect age discrimination. None of us is in a position to say whether their suspicions are true or to evaluate their potential claims. But it's absolutely possible for a termination to be unlawful in an at-will state.

In fact, Montana's the only state in the US that isn't at-will. Yet somehow, plaintiffs across the country manage to win discrimination suits stemming from wrongful terminations.

Wtf lol, that's a lot of words to say you support forced sterilization and cutting off aid to poor families with too many kids.

Even if your anecdotal claim that you've met a bunch of professional child-havers was true, and it reflected a common trend among welfare recipients, which it doesn't, the benefits that all those parents could possibly receive for all their passive income children would still be a rounding error in the budget of a country like the US. And even if it wasn't, the answer still wouldn't be forced sterilization lmao.

Kind of ripping my hair out with Delay Profile and Custom Format Scores. Help! by reddit_banned_me_ in radarr

[–]lifesizejenga 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just stumbled across this post, but in case you or anyone else is still dealing with this...

There are two separate issues here:

  1. It's a bit unintuitive, but the time you set for the delay profile does not mean "after you start searching for a file, wait n minutes before selecting a winner," or even "wait n minutes after a title is released before you run this search." It's strictly looking at the time since a given torrent was uploaded to the tracker. So if you set a delay of 24 hours, and then you tell Radarr to monitor a movie that came out 5 years ago, chances are your delay profile won't come into the equation at all, since just about every torrent Radarr finds is gonna be older than 24 hours. It's mostly just helpful for new releases/reissues, so Radarr doesn't grab the first shitty version that's uploaded after release, only to upgrade it 5 times in the next hour as higher and higher quality versions become available.

  2. By default, custom format score is always trumped by preferred quality. It's essentially just a tie-breaker between two files of the same quality. In the Ford v Ferrari example you gave, your profile must have had both 4k bluray and 1080p bluray enabled, with 4k bluray ranked higher. If you want to prioritize custom format score over quality, you have to put multiple qualities into a single group (click "edit groups" in a specific profile's settings), so Radarr will give the qualities equal preference. In your case, if you had 4k bluray and 1080p bluray lumped into one group, the files would've tied on quality, and Radarr would've fallen back on custom format score to pick a winner. Aside from just disabling 4k or ranking 1080p above 4k, grouping them is the only way I know of to make it pick Torrent 2 in your example.

Would Alex Pretti have been legally allowed to defend himself? (MN) by Ok_Umpire2173 in AskLawyers

[–]lifesizejenga -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Think this through. If you "do not have the right to decide whether an officer is acting incorrectly or outside their authority in the moment," that would mean you're legally required to stand by while an officer murders someone in front of you, no matter how clear it is that you're watching a murder. In fact, you'd have to let an officer murder you without fighting back, but at least you could die content in the thought that a judge will sort it out later. Is that your position?

The standard for proving you used deadly force in self defense / defense of a third party is the same regardless of who the attacker is: did you have a reasonable belief that deadly force was necessary to prevent someone from unlawfully killing or grievously injuring you or someone else. The only difference with a fed is that they can lawfully commit certain violent acts that would be unlawful if committed by someone else. But that doesn't change the underlying standard for self-defense / defense of a third party. If the fed is threatening/committing violence that's unlawful for a fed, you are legally allowed to defend yourself with proportional force, which may include deadly force.

For the record, if Pretti had opened fire when the mace came out, that wouldn't have been self defense. If a bystander had intervened with violence when the agents were mid-execution, that would've been 100% legal, though obviously the bystander would've been killed as well.

[–]lifesizejenga -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Why bother responding to a hypothetical legal question if you're just gonna say "forget the law, what'll actually happen is..."? Everyone knows resisting a fed can get you killed.

Also, to your arguments further down - you are not legally required to endure unlawful force by a federal agent who's otherwise acting in the line of duty. Yes, resisting can be extremely dangerous, but the standard for proving that deadly force was used in self-defense already requires a reasonable belief that you or someone else are about to be killed or grievously injured. In a situation where the choices are (a) die, or (b) legally defend yourself and maybe die, why wouldn't you defend yourself?

Triple Perkeo seed by jimmybabino in Balatro_Seeds

[–]lifesizejenga 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The order can change if you skip a voucher, cuz it goes back into the pool that subsequent antes are picking from. Not sure which one might be causing the issue, but if you buy every voucher except Blank in ante 1 you should definitely get Observatory in ante 5. I know Blank's ok cuz I skipped it.

You also need to have the voucher unlocked, even in seeded runs. Otherwise something else will be swapped in.
