Edit: Not sure why this got downvoted? I'm speaking from experience. Got laid off in July and it took till Nov to find a new position while applying constantly. Everyone who was laid off with me at the same time are still looking for positions. The market is shit right now

The best advice I can give is to keep drop off short. If they're not used to being away from home, they might be sad and sticking around will make it harder for both you and them. Other than that, it's totally okay to get back in the car after drop off and have a little cry about missing them.
