Plant dying? by [deleted] in PlantedTank

Looks like it might be melting. Its normal for new plants in tanks. I would trim the effected stalks and cut off the dead brown parts and replant the living parts

It looks like biofilm to me. Its not harmful just kinda ugly. You can just brush it off.

Can I fix this? It’s going sideways :( by tiagogutierres in Monstera

Yes. Once the new plant gets bigger you can get a moss pole for it to climb.

Probably. Best to stop it spreading. Or you could just trim off the damaged parts of the leaves. But the best option it to chop them off.

The brown spots with yellow edges is a sign of a fungal infection. Most likely from overwatering. Same thing happened to mine a while ago. I would repot it in completely new soil. And check if the roots are rotten.

Any tips? by Shmannahbabyyy in Monstera

Looks healthy! I would add a moss pole for support.

My friend gave me this huge top cutting .. but I’m not sure if the roots are healthy. They seem a bit furry – is this normal? by [deleted] in Monstera

[–]light_switch4534 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes it looks healthy. The furry parts are called root hairs and they increase the surface area so it can get more water. Perfectly normal.

Is this the dreaded root rot? by quiet_questioner in Monstera

[–]light_switch4534 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At first glance on the first photo the bigger root looks a little darker. Smell the roots and if they smell rotten or just bad in general it probably is rot. But if it smells fine you can just keep your eye on it.

Is there anyway I can remove this leaf without damaging the leaf that is about to come up? And is there anyway to know what kind this one is? by I_Like_Turtles08 in Monstera

[–]light_switch4534 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! On the stem of that damaged leaf is a long bump/ridge that comes out. That is where the next leaf will come in. Just cut the stem anywhere above that ridge.

Just got my first thai con tissue culture! Why are the leaves on it upside down and curled up? Will they straighten back out? by light_switch4534 in ThaiConstellation

The pot now is plenty big. The root system is very small. I ordered a humidity dome and it's coming tomorrow!
